Day 18: Croatia vs Brazil | Netherlands vs Argentina (QF 1&2)

Are Brazil the ones in white and red right ?

The inconsistency based on what side of the bed the ref got up on is infuriating.
I don't think there's any referring decision as ingrained in my brain as Nanis red. Everytime I see a high foot not given it reminds of that decision. Peak ref decision rage.

I do.

Nothing personal though. I just think he's a bit overrated. He's getting the Pirlo treatment. Pirlo was always brilliant but then in his mid 30s suddenly everyone just couldn't get enough of him and he was getting put into conversations with guys like Xavi and Iniesta despite clearly not being at that level. Same thing with Modric.

For example, look at the post you're quoting. Class in every move apparently. Does that exclude the terrible pass he played straight to a Brazil player earlier in the game, who, if his touch wasn't so bad, would've been through on goal with numbers in support?

Always interesting to hear other opinions, even the wrong ones.

Danilo playing pseudo DM in the build up phase allowing Casemiro to be CM. Good idea but Danilo is not good enough. Pep did the same with Lahm and Alaba which worked as they are better with the ball

Modric: has an easy pass there to Sosa in loads of space, refuses to play it, then a few seconds later he does try it and scuffs it so bad that the full back has to sprint back 10-15 yards just to stop it going straight out for a throw in.

Everyone: Modric! So good!

I wish we bought Modric when he was fannying about with wanting to leave Spurs. Real Madrid got a bargain, probably pound for pound one of the most value for money transfers in recent footballing history.

That was the epitome of applying a rule without any common sense.
I see so many high foot challenges like this one where the player sees his opponent which Nani didn't which is key. Robbed.

Kovacic’s black eye came from an ‘incident in the gym’. Of course it did.
Who do we think he pissed off in training then?

For me it's the lack of accountability. Do ref performances get officially reviewed? Did that ref even have to answer for it? If so, are there sanctions of some sort for terrible brain dead decisions that have massive impacts on important games?

Yo LVG might have been onto something when he called Brazil a counter team. Look how deep Neymar is coming for the ball.

Has Juranovic been playing with weights on? Out of nowhere man's everywhere on the pitch this game.

First good game I've seen Juranovic play. All previous games he looked pretty suspect, including in the WC so far. Today he's showing why Celtic fans rave about him so much. Would need to see it more consistently for him to be an option for Utd but good to see.

Brazilian players are too soft so far, too lethargic, they get decent positions on occasions but can sustain the impact they face.
