Day 17: England vs Germany | Sweden vs Ukraine (Ro16 7&8)

Kane dropping deep there and almost creating something. Shows how wrong Southgate has got it. Kane operates best as a deep lying forward with wingers bombing past him, just like with Son at Spurs. Instead, Kane is operating as a target man and is ineffective as a result. We have the wingers to cater to his style of play, yet we start Sterling and Saka. They've both had decent tournaments, but it is clearly not the right setup for England

No service to Kane, hence why he's absent. If he drops back, then nobody is ahead of him through the middle. He's made some runs, but no ball/service.

It's indicative the fact that there's nobody running of him or him being able to link up, aside from wide players. So you either play the ball early to him via cross or ground pass, but neither are happening.

Agreed criticism is harsh. Jenas following the long English tradition of scapegoating the star attacker / captain. Aside from Saka no one's done anything in attack, and there's nothing in midfield

Underhit by Trippier, that was good movement by Kane.

The sooner Bellingham starts for England the sooner we’ll look like an international team from back to front. He should be on now, I don’t care how old he is, he’s our best CM by a fecking mile.

I think Grealish should come on. He can dribble through them and win more freekicks.

Which is?
"I keep hearing things about Declan Rice, but is he a better player than Scott McTominay? I'm not sure; I think with McTominay, Paul Pogba and obviously Bruno Fernandes, we're in a good place in the middle of the park."

Get Bellingham on. I don’t trust either of those two clowns in midfield

That was close to a red now....both England CMs on a yellow so nulified. Henderson will be first sub for sure for one of them.
