Day 11: England vs Panama, Japan vs Senegal and Poland vs Colombia

Makes it very hard to judge both England and Belgium, and I expect that game to be a non event, with not much on the game and the familiarity the teams have with each other. Could be a problem if you suddenly go into a proper WC fixture.

How often are the best teams in the group stages the best teams in the final stages? Surely less than half.

That's true, but there is definitely something about this England team. A level of confidence and belief that sets them apart from our previous teams over the years. Whether they can sustain this level of performance throughout the competition is up for debate, but at the very least they have proven a great many people wrong. Hardly anyone gave them a chance.

I may be wrong, but VAR can’t be used to turn over marginal decisions. The intention is to cut down on controversial mistakes.

Also, what’s the actual definition offside? I thought you need to be fully ahead of the defender I.e should be able to see an actual gap in between. But I don’t know for sure.

Its a shame Kane will be spending his peak at Spurs, would've loved to see him at a bigger club playing with the best.

Am I being too negative by being annoyed thay Rashford has not come on. Maybe I'm just biased but I'm the only Brit in a Turkish bar jumping up and down (and I'm sober!). Getting some concerned looks but 6 nil! This don't happen so often. Its Panama? Who cares this is the world cup and anything can happen. Belgium got 3 second half goals against them!

Start shouting I love Greece. The Turks will love you then for sure!

Beautiful finish from Kane

England are absolute pros at corners and set pieces. This is just not something I comprehend as a United fan.

Yeah, a part of the body that can be legally used to score a goal must be clearly offside.

Christ, Panama v Tunisia ....the World final for the biggest cheating cnuts

People getting way too carried away with England.

Tunisia and Panama is like playing a friendly. Listening to Mobray and Murphy you'd think we're thrashing a proper team.

I think a real awakening could be in store when the real games start.

I hear what you're saying but you really can't compare Ronaldo's performance to this one by Kane.

Who is comparing the performance? I agree with you anyway.

Ron didn't need a hattrick to be the best player in that game. Kane scored a hattrick but is not the best player today. But in terms of golden boot both scored hattricks.

I doubt Lukaku is motivated by personal glory. It's about the teams and which team can go the furthest.

Every player is motivated by personal glory. It’s those who can temper that desire with what’s best for the team who are usually the most successful.
