Day 1 | Germany vs Scotland

This performance from Scotland is up there with Brazil in 2014, just hopeless

I've been watching football for 25 years and I've never seen a Scottish team that was good or even passable.

I know it's a small country but Wales, NI and Ireland have all had good sides in my lifetime. I don't understand why Scotland are so consistently poor.

It’s even stranger when you consider that Scotland are the only one with a league where teams regularly qualify for Europe

I know Scotland are poor , but can see why Nagelsman was a popular choice to replace ETH on here. Like his brand of football.

Some of these players shouldn't' be playing at this level, very embarrassing

That's cause they expanded the euros to 24 teams from 16 back in 2016. Now you get these - "it's the taking part that counts" nations in the group stages.

Pretty clearcut offside there, dealt with quickly. Unlike in the prem where last season that would gave taken 5 minutes

I like McTominay so feel a bit sad about the scoreline but then see Andy Robertson and all is well in the world.

Did teeth gap dude get a drunken hair cut, a dare, a drunk barber, or did he go full Ronaldo?

True, I am happy that we have simply gotten to a tournament considering that we’ve never progressed past the group stage. I appreciate the sympathy.

Absolutely fantastic atmosphere at the Allianz Arena. At least one thousand times better than the Etihad.
I always root for the underdog and don't like to see everyone trashing Scotland although deserved. I sincerely think you will get a result next match. Players have pride and will react after this abysmal showing. If not better not even go back to Scotland and go straight to vacations.

Scotland are pretty consistent at least. They’ve shipped 4 goals to the French, the Dutch and now to the Germans.

I mean, this game is more about Scotland being fking awful than Germany being great.
They are definitely a great side and contenders to win the Euro but this Scottish side just let them do whatever they want. Any top team would look this great against them tbh

That's cause they expanded the euros to 24 teams from 16 back in 2016. Now you get these - "it's the taking part that counts" nations in the group stages.
Another move that has made football worse. 16 team euros used to be better quality than the WC, at times.

Normally I’d get riled up by the snide smug English comments about how terrible we are…

…but I’m so apathetic I actually agree with them. There’s nothing to defend here. This has been horrific.

I’d have thought having the best left back in premier league history would count for more for scotland

I do not see any weak link in Germany. They have everything to win this tournament.

Reliable elite goalscorer is the one. I think when the margins are at their tightest, France can just give the ball to an Mbappe and get a goal even without playing well.

Getting Italy euro 2021 vibes from this game. Italy looked like winners from that first game.

I don't really care who wins, but it's quite satisfying seeing Andy Robertson getting destroyed.

80 minutes in and still not a single Scottish shot of any description..

I'm only half watching, but I feel like the closest Scotland have got to the German half in the last 30 minutes has been kick offs.
