David Moyes West Ham Manager | Gone (pedantic sod Sarni)

We'll never know.

Except we do cuz he failed based on results. And then failed in Spain. And then failed up North.

He's a midtable, old-school grafter, and there's nothing wrong with that, but he should never have been given a majestic club like Manchester United to run, and only a WUM of the highest order would suggest otherwise.

What I will say about Moyes at West Ham, though, is that he has actually made decisions there and been bold with them...

What he's doing with Arnie is really, really impressive and the way he's got them linking midfield and attack through Lanzini and the lovely triangles they're playing is a job well done.

And it's good to see him have something go right for him.

But don't mistake, this is his level - a well stocked mid-table side who should be finishing 10th-6th.

Oh look, you put WUM in capital letters

Sorry Mr. Nostradamus, but we don't

Be serious mate you don't need to be able to predict the future to know Moyes if by some miracle had not been sacked by United at the end of his 1st season wouldn't have lasted much longer into his 2nd season. And sure as shit wouldn't have won anything. He hasn't won a top level trophy his entire managerial career, and he quite likely never will.

I'm old school, you made this mess, you bloody fix it ;)

Christ even if the board had sacked him in the off-season it wouldn't have been so bad, as it played out it was as though they couldn't wait to get him out the door which even if you think the decision was right(and celebrated long and hard), didn't reflect well on Manchester United.

I don't think he knew how to fix it he was just completely out of his depth. And i also don't think it reflected on the club that poorly at all, no other top club would have waited so long and let him completely sink a season before pulling the trigger. How it was leaked to the press wasn't right no doubt, but not the timescale.

Once he failed to meet even the minimum performance in his contract there was no real need to wait around until July to sack him. Part of that was no doubt financial, and part of it was probably because at that point he was a destabilising presence around the club.

If the stories at the time were to be believed, he was not a popular figure among the club staff. And he rubbed lots of people the wrong way up to and including Ferguson maybe.

I think he knew how to fix it, but he just wasn't given enough time, it was obvious Rio, Vida and Evra were all but finished at the top level and needed replacing asap, Moyes spent all Summer trying to sign Leighton Baines to replace Evra, yet of the 53 matches that season Evra started 44, and Rio and Vida combined played 53, so Moyes was constantly mixing and matching at the back with Smalling, Evans, Jones, Rafael and Buttner in and out of the side, hardly ideal not being able to get a settled back-four - the foundation for any successful season.

Then factor in the continued absence of Darren Fletcher when he should've been coming into his own, meaning Carrick basically had to carry the midfield.

And it's funny that although Moyes had a reputation as a defensive Coach, all the strikers(Rooney, van Persie, Chicharito and Welbeck) had good goal returns.

We played some good stuff at times, but it was always the defence that let us down, and i'm not sure anybody(SAF apart)would have done any better with that collection of has-beens, wannabes and never will erm bees.

ps. Moyes still had the chance to qualify for the Europa League, something Ryan Giggs failed to do, so would it really have mattered if we'd given Moyes the last 4 games to at least try and achieve that, as apposed to binning him as a failure - and yes I know to most United fans being in the Europa League is considered failure.

pps. Hearsay about him not being popular, but there were a few people(no names needed) that distanced themselves from Moyes when he probably needed them most.

Right i'm off to see if I can find a I still love LvG thread, surely to God there's one around here, somewhere ?

You must be an eternal optimist mate, even his biggest defenders almost all concede he was out of depth and had little chance of ever turning it around.

Martin Samuel has strongly condemned Moyes in the aftermath of their FA Cup exit to Wigan.

The last two sentences stood out: ''Moyes lost Saturday's game when he treated that glory as inconvenience. If he had ever won a trophy, he might not be so dismissive of what those rare and wonderful moments mean.''

That's journalism? Reads like a fan's rant

Edit: Maybe that's because he is a fan and it is a rant.

Hardly surprising the thought of winning a trophy is an alien concept to Moyes. He never prioritised a cup win over finishing 1 place higher in the league in 12 years at Everton.

fecking hell, are there still Moyes apologists out there? :wenger:

What is this? A propaganda for ants?!

Without even checking I know who you're talking about and I think you're right.

I've had him on ignore for months because of it.

Quite possible there's loads of WUM's on here, but they could also just be nuts.

Haha, there have been a-few LvG obsessed nutters on here alright, and they're all banned now. But that posters' defence of Moyes smacks of a WUM.

I don't think I will ever understand the Moyes/LVG apologists.
I wonder what these people make of Jose, who won more trophies than both LVG/Moyes managed in 2 years at the club.

Hang on...they got banned?
When did this happen?
And surely that seems a bit "off". If they truly believe that LVG built foundations, etc, then they should be allowed to say this. As long as it's contained in it's own thread, I don't see a problem with that.

Well I'm talking about that KinderBueno lad and Home&Away. They polluted numerous threads with LvG bollox and both are now banned.

Samuel is a West Ham fan..so that article is influenced by hurt.

The funniest thing is those who keep saying Moyes and LVG needed more time and should have got patience and keep repeating that FA cup, are the same who can't wait to tell us how Mourinho should leave ASAP and consider the 2 trophies last season as 2 minor ones and that no progress happened. Like how seriously?

Contradiction in its finest.

My ears are burning, and I can't speak for everybody, but that's crap, i've never once said any Manager of Manchester United should leave.

Yeah there's a few of us still left, we meet once a month in the back of a taxi to reminisce, there's still room for a little un' if you want to join us ;)

Not a fecking chance, Moyes managing United was my worst nightmare come true. From the moment it was first mooted, maybe 3 years before he arrived, my reaction was immediately:

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Did anyone else find it amusing that West Ham have today signed Jordan Hugill from Preston North End?
Classic Moyes.
