David Moyes Unemployed | European Champion

Yeah I had my eye on tonight's game for this reason. I think whatever happens now they won't be going absolutely hell for leather fighting for their very survival.

That said Southampton had nothing to play for and beasted us in that second half, so maybe it doesn't really mean shit.
Southampton, for lack of anything better, found their motivation in trying to beat us and City and to be fair did a good job of it. West Ham's motivation has been survival. Now that the job's pretty much done I'd be surprised if they didn't lose a bit of their edge. They'll probably give us a game, but they won't be fighting tooth and nail like they have been recently.

That being said, I'm being optimistic here. Our recent form against West Ham is atrocious. We're 1-1-2 in the last four.

You lot clearly don't know Moyes. He is the master at getting wins when the pressure is off.

Nepotism is by definition favoring your relatives to give them jobs.

Nepotism - mid 17th century: from French népotisme, from Italian nepotismo, from nipote ‘nephew’ (with reference to privileges bestowed on the ‘nephews’ of popes, who were in many cases their illegitimate sons).

Family or friends in every accepted modern definition.

While you've got your dictionary out, have a goose at 'tedious' and 'pedantic' though...

Some people still defend his tenure here. United fans, not opposition ones.

What a nutter... what about the fact that he inherited a title winning side that won the league at a canter! Don't buy the whole ageing squad argument, a squad doesn't burn out that fast and to that extent.

Ole inherited shit.

If we'd given this idiot more time we'd be in the Championship now.

The difference is, put Moyes in charge of this squad now and we’re nowhere near 4th let alone fighting for it. He wouldn’t have a clue how to get the best out of the likes of Martial and Greenwood.

With Smalling and Rojo “nice and solid” at the back, Januzaj getting to the byline three times a game, and Rooney still starting up front.

He just needs another couple of years though, then he’ll have us competing with Brentford.

Moyes was terrible and a ludicrous choice to replace Fergie. He had so much at his disposal and messed up horrifically.

The one area where he perhaps was unfortunate was just how good the top 6 were that year, by their usual standards.

Arsenal came 4th and got 79 points. Tottenham finished 6th on 69. Both of those would have strolled into top 4 this season, and there's a decent chance that 64 points (the amount we got that season) will be enough for top 4 this time around.

He's basically always performed when he's fit in whatever the position. Good player.
Glad to see Moyes stick with Antonio despite the record signing Haller was fit and ready, and the decision has been paying off so far.

You'd think there'd be more of a difference (then just being given time) between a manager who has coached since 1998, and one who has only coached since 2011.

And in that short time, he's won two titles and an FA Cup equivelant. Moyes' honours list in 22 years is a League One title and the Community Shield, which even he was humble enough to say doesn't belong to him.

Quite a significant difference really.

West Ham have been in good form recently, people said the same about Southampton being easy until they rocked up and played us off the park.

Moyes is a plonker but he knows how to setup a team as an underdog.

I struggle to find the correct words to describe just how much i loathe him.

Hopefully Moyes get overzealous for this game and either...

1. Making some ridiculous costly tactical and player selection decisions to prove his geniuses and that he's better than Ole.

2. Had a last minute falling out with his key players after telling them to play like Lingard, pressing X to pass and square to shoot, plus special education of 'to win games, you need to score'.

Or both.

You can argue that we really won the last title without a midfield and by the brilliance of RVP. That still doesn't explain how he fecked up our world class back 4 that could have played another two seasons. Every single manager after SAF had some kind of redeeming quality except this guy.

Vidic conceded a penalty and got a red card in his competitive debut at Inter, then he made an error leading to a goal after his return from suspension. He made so many mistakes that he was heavily criticized and widely labelled as a flop. He later became out of favor and was released.

Ferdinand struggled at QPR in very much the same way and retired pretty soon. Evra enjoyed a better spell in Italy but he was no longer the tireless fullback we knew, and the intensity and pace in Serie A were much lower. Young is currently a regular starter for Inter but is he good enough for us?

Fans tend to be so emotionally attached to these title winning members that they are very lenient when they judge their performances. I appreciate their efforts and it's sad to see them leave, but there's no evidence suggesting that they could have played another two seasons.

So what? The D is not only a group of players but a cohesive unit. A unit that won the league. You can't really judge defensive players like wingers mate

The team he inherited maybe champion but we couldn't ignore that the team is actually a team in decline, no top midfielders except Carrick, and other problems. De Gea is the only good long-term while the young defenders at that time are suspiciously suspects even during SAF years giving no indication of good future.

Fergie influences is really huge to cover that team.

Still doesn't justify the huge drop in league position by Moyes letting it happen, and it doesn't change the fact Moyes could not manage that team and had no idea how to freshen up and rebuild the squad. Rubbish two transfer windows with only two good squad player recruitment that doesn't fit well with the other players and one promising youth. Also everything else that are just pure rubbishes from Moyes eg. tactics, instructions, etc.

Almost everyone hates Jose and Van Gaal.
But Moyes is the person that is the most bitter of all our ex-managers after Fergie.
This is the person you should dislike. Feck him. Beat them 8-0.

They will be compact and tought to beat. We meet them at the wrong time. His late Everton side was a nuisance.

I hope we are at the races, it can be a long evening otherwise.
