Film David Lynch R.I.P

That’s lovely. Great Trent Reznor quote too.

Inland Empire is the one I just couldn’t hack. The Digital style on top of peak Lynch weirdness was too much for me when I watched it aged ~20 or so. Does anyone on here strongly recommend it?
Inland Empire has an even better jump scare than the one in the opening scene of Mulholland Drive.

There are many great directors who have a nerdy fetish and nostalgia for film. It’s only a “real film” if it’s done in 35mm, has minimal cgi, etc but a true visionary like Lynch saw digital as new material.
The great visionaries are often misunderstood in their own time.

Sorry I know it’s a Twitter link, not sure how else to post it.

While the Oscars ultimately don’t mean that much, he got robbed for Best Director on Mulholland Drive.

I went and found the episodes of Louie he did this week. and they still make me laugh especially some of his lines which feel like he wrote for himself.

Just started rewatching entire Twin Peaks saga again, but in chronological order so started with ‘Fire walk with me’.
God, it is so disturbing, even fully aware what’s happening scenes with Bob and Laura’s screams give me chills.
Can’t wait to get to S3 again

Yep, a super guy.

Room to Dream and Lynch on Lynch are two great reads.

the first thing that came on my mind the day Lynch died was to rewatch Twin Peaks, so that's what I've been doing for the last two weeks. I'm nearing the end of the second season, it's my second watch and I was wondering how would I feel about it now, but if anything, I'm enjoying it even more.

it all comes down to the fact that the older I get, the more I realize how far I am from experiencing something like this again. there are soooo many people working in this industry, but the simple truth is, no one is going to bother and imagine all this stuff for me (the way Lynch did) any time soon.

there's nothing even remotely as deep, charming and iconic on the menu, there's nothing coming out these days that makes it age badly or dated. there are plenty of bad shows, there are plenty of good ones, but there are veeery few shows you get in love with.

it's simply out of place and time in any year, and it's going to remain like that.

I did something similar a couple of years ago. Had very simlar thoughts after Fire Walk With Me. He was unique. He seemed to have direct access to my lizard brain where he'd make the most bizarre stuff but it felt more natural than reality almost.
