David De Gea

Straight swap for Claudio Bravo if you guys like. Pretty please?

It's pretty normal that he would prefer to leave. Our last 4 league campaigns are either a calamity or a mediocre at best. What I don't understand is why Real. Didn't Real stop the transfer back in 2015 or I am missing something? Why would you want to transfer to a club that didn't want you before for one reason or another? Doesn't him have some pride or ego? And it isn't like the then manager didn't want him so now that they have a different one he can go, as only the president has the power to decide for transfers and he was against his transfer and he is still there.

I'd be wanting to move to Madrid too. Lovely city, lovely lifestyle, lovely weather, and a team to grow old in. Sounds like paradise.

Not arsed, sick of hearing this shite every summer. If he wants to leave, get some good cash or a player we need in return and be done with it. He isn't as essential to us as he has been in the past. Would prefer we would keep one of the World's best keepers, but under Jose conceding goals isn't my worry.

He wants to be with his girlfriend and is at an age where he's thinking about starting a family, I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to leave.

He perhaps stayed longer than most footballers and we have not challenged for league in last 4 seasons so you can understand why he wants to go. At least with Jose we will get top dollar rather than exchanging him for a packet of crisps like certain players why have left lately.

If we get Champions League and he wants to leave that's fine, i would much prefer if he stayed and was jewel in our crown for 1 mor season but he's been an absolute stalwart between the sticks since SAF left and he owes us nothing imo. What's the release clause 60 mill? I'm sure we can acquire a top class talent and nurture another world class keeper (Bernard Leno) and even a top CB to partner Bailly.

That's certainly possible, but do you think we would really have done that? He was benched whilst he wasn't fit to play on a mental level. If it was nailed on that he was leaving on a bosman, I don't think we'd bench him for a year, knowing how good he is and what he can give us.

Unless, of course, he'd been told "sign, or you're training with the kids until June", but I really can't see the club treating him that way. I predict we'd do with him what Dortmund did with Lewandowski, and play him until he goes. Perhaps I'm being optimistic, but I just don't see the club acting so vindictively towards a player.
You're pretty naive if you think the club didn't air the possibility of that happening during the contract negotiations, in the aftermath of Madrid fecking up the transfer on deadline day. Would we've done it? Impossible to say, I'd expect us to be pragmatic. If we thought his contributions would outweigh the negatives connected with "losing out" to player power, akin to Dortmund, I think we would've played him.

I think he's as good as gone this summer. I don't blame him really, he's been a great servant for us these past few years and we've had our money's worth out of him but a young GK approaching his prime needs to be playing at the highest level and for the past 4 seasons, we simply haven't been giving him that level of football.

I just feel his head hasn't seemed 'all there' this season anyway, like he knew this was the do or die season for him in terms of deciding where he wants to be for 2017/18.

As long as we get a hefty fee for him from Madrid and sign a solid replacement, I'll be fine with it. Romero's been good but he's not a top-level GK. If he decides he wants to leave too, then we need to sign a cheap/free transfer veteran (30 plus) who'll be content to be a substitute or even give Pereira the second choice slot.

Wasn't Kasper Schmeichel at the game last week? Gotta admit, if DDG does go I would love to see a Schmeichel in our goal...

Forget sentiment mate - you need the best you can get

Hopefully the paper saying he had put his house up for sale is either lying, or it is a complete red herring.

However, we'd cope better now than the last time it looked like we'd lose him.
At times he was keeping us in games single handedly, and now he's a spectator for a lot of games.

I kinda get the sense he is off this summer as well. I wish it wasn't Madrid tho.

I don't think he'll leave this summer, Jose will just tell them to feck off

And what if de gea wants to leave?

He wanted to leave before but didn't make much of a fuss about it. There's a big difference between agreeing to leave if two clubs agree a fee and forcing a move.

I think he will go this time. I said elsewhere we should got for Jordan Pickford but the guy I actually meant was Jack Butland (if we decide to buy rather than pick Sergio)

latest I've heard is there is no release clause so we will ask for £60m, which I'm sure Real with say they wil pay and then like Becks give us £5.25p in five installments

we hold all the cards why should we let him leave? i doubt he wants to sit on the bench for the next few years because thats what would happen if he try to force a move. we dont need the money and we have a solid keeper behind him.

Why are people wishing that we sign some average keepers like Butland, Pickford or Schmeichel?

Last summer there were a number of posters who thought we should replace De Gea with Valdes. The argument was repeatedly made that if you have a top class team you don't need a great keeper. I don't understand it either.

Agree with this, we simply have to get a huge fee for him and invest it wisely in the squad.

£5.25 in 5 installments  Hay if we're lucky we might get a set of nets and a copy fo FIFA 17 ha! As quoted by Marca "The goalkeeper then signed a new deal at Old Trafford until 2019, with the option for an additional year, but Marca claims there was a buy-out clause of 60million euros – currently £51.6million – inserted into the contract". That seems to be the rumours quoted by various news outlets after the contract extension. If he goes he goes, be a sad day for us but no name on the back of the jersey is ever bigger than the crest on the front. 60 million or one of Varane/Casemiro/Morata and a large lump sum or no dice. No interest in James Rodreguiz

100% mate. Champions League is a must to secure top talent and we only want the best. I'm all for giving the youth a chance and Jose gets flack for not playing the youth for some reason......(Pogba, Shaw, Lingard, Bailly & Martial all under 24??) But we need a competent ready made players to hit the ground running. We need a CB to partner Bailly, Jones and Smalling aren't good enough and have had ample time to prove themselves. Rojo is a squad player and can be a liability at times ( I wouldn't like to be relying on him in a champions league final agains Juve,Barca etc). Blind is playing oop but i like hes versatility. Carrick and Rooney need to be replaced and i'd go so far as to say Ibra as well

If Real Madrid are intent on getting him and he wants to leave, we should demand £40-50m and Nevas. We'd be robbing them blind. Nevas is quality.

Navasis a good reflex keeper but i feel we would be in big trouble once teams start abusing him on set pieces and crosses
