It's probably figured into every international transfer to or from Spain, but he's decided to mention it this time so it'll seem like he knows what he's talking about.

Of course it is, Balague meant that the figure already contains VAT. Otherwise it would mean we have to pay over 30m.

And just to clarify: I don't believe a word he says.

tonight of all nights, when we have just seen the impact that a top class goalie makes to a match, in the shape of VDS, and people are still questioning whether it is worth spending £20m on one who is rated very highly, and as likely as any to become a top class keeper for near enough the next two decades.

Tonight of all nights you come in here to complain about transfer muppetry?

Tonight of all nights...

Just wanted to point out that while Ballague is essentially useless and you'd be silly to believe any of the transfer rumours he comes up with, he did get one right and thats David Villa to Barcelona.

I was commenting that having just seen VDS put on a world class performance which arguably won us the game last night, people are still questioning whether we should be prepared to spend big (or even "medium") on a new goalie.

How that is transfer muppetry im not sure, but whatever floats your boat.

21m for this lad is fair to you? Who are you? Bill Gates's son?
The lad is 20 years of age, has already played in an European final, has experience in one of the two best leagues in the world, has a 20 Million EUR buy-out clause and is one of the brightest goalkeeping talents out there who could give us 10-15 years of service. Yeah, I think a price between £17-21m sounds fair to me for that kind of acquisition.
We need a top class keeper when VdS retires, he's potentially one of the very best and already pretty damn good. It's not like we're signing him from some lower league team either, Atletico are current holders of an European trophy.
Exceptional talent does hardly ever go for peanuts - exceptions like Oezil just prove the rule.

Can't help but agree with you. 20m is not that much anymore, and he's an already good goalkeeper with incredible potential, whom Atletico are in no rush to sell.

He is just after saying last night was Torres' best game for Chelsea....

Looks like a mouthy fecker too, which suggests he has the assetts to command a back line in the up coming years.

How is his English? Communication is, after all, vital for a 'keeper.

you guys can seriously expect a 20y kid to be United keeper.

Cech was 22 when he became first choice keeper for Chelsea. Not saying you get plenty of young keepers who become first choice for top clubs, but it does happen and from time to time an absolute huge talent with strong mental ability can do that.

Ronaldo to Madrid. Told people it was agreed... We all laughed!!

Reina was 22 when he debuted for Liverpool as well.

He did mention that a million times and finally got it right at one point. Nobody could see that transfer coming:p

I like De Gea but a De Gea/Lindegaard goalie tandem seems a bit inexperienced.

I think it's exciting. Like what I've seen of Lindegaard too. Feel MUCH better about Lindegaard than I've ever felt about Kuczcak.

Age is not the barrier.

Hope this deal goes through, if not then where do we go next? Neuer is off to Bayern and hes the only other candidate of genuine quality we could get.

Lloris maybe? then again trying to negotiate with Aulas of Lyon is a nightmare, Reina? would love it purely just to see the scouse reaction/suicides but dont see it happening, Stekelenburg i really dont rate nor Adler.

How about we feck em all off and give edwin another 5 years!

PIG would take up a place on the 25-man squad and I don't think it would be fair on him to stay as no. 3.

De Gea may be young but he's got the experience of playing in La Liga & has played in Europe winning the Europa League so I don't think inexperience would be too much of an issue.

Which is likely to contain Rafael, Smalling a fair number of times and probably Fabio a lot more often than we've seen so far to give Evra a proper rest every once in a while.

We could really do with someone who is ready to be a top keeper right now, but if Neuer is not available then De Gea is a great choice.

Yes, but chances are the defence in front of him will contain at least one of Rio or Vidic which is as reassuring as you can get for any keeper.

£20m is terrific value providing we have him nailed as no.1 keeper for a least a decade. And I don't think he'll be 'dreaming' of Madrid either considering he's an Athletico lad.

Barca on the other hand.. :nervous:

Kuszczak could very well be included in a transfer deal or sold outright. I'm sure more than a handful of clubs would be interested. He's good enough to start at many clubs throughout Europe.

I have a funny feeling Barca will go after Reina. If they can get him and add another classy defender to the side, they'd be about as complete a first XI as possible.

Why? Lindegaard has played against a non-league side and a third division side, so far and that's it.
