If he kept it out it would have been seen as an outstanding save. He was left exposed by the defence so had no chance. Amazing that he had any time to react at all really.
Keepers get hit on the head/face by the ball all the time. Occupational hazard. If you're lucky enough to deflect it away from the goal with your bonce you claim it as a wonder-save.
I just want to post Evans' opinion on de Gea.
Good to hear that English is not a problem for him.
I disagree with you. He is already better than what he was at the beginning of the season.
I still say at the present, he is going to cost us more games than he helps us win.
Then you are an idiot if you believe that.
He is indeed an idiot, wasn't too long ago he described de Gea as "simply shit".
Bordering shit? You have got to be kidding me!
He does not inspire me with any confidence, and he makes me absolutely nervous, whenever the opposing team get within 30 yds of our goal. The opposing teams have scented this too, why do you think they jostle him at corners and shoot at every opportunity??
Shooting at him whenever they can hasn't exactly proven to be a good tactic, given how excellent he has shown to be at saving attempts like that recently. He's clearly still weak on crosses but I can't see how that leaves him as "bordering shit".
We'll just have to see if I'm wrong. Hopefully I am, time will tell.
Well, you're obviously wrong about the shooting from distance bit, so...
Why, because he's made 3 good saves, 2 of which any keeper worth his salt should be stopping in his sleep.

No, dummy.
That he hasn't conceded many from outside the box. Ergo, he isn't weak there.
Or in other words, a sample taken from one (season) is poor statistics (and never, ever listen to what Redknapp tells you without putting on your critical specs. Even though he's on Sky and whatnot.)
It's nothing to do with that, he's only conceded one from range which was the Dzeko shot therefore you are wrong.
Admittedly he has only conceded the one, but he spills too many of the others, which in itself could lead to a secondary chance. We will just have to agree to disagree I'm afraid, or we will be going around in circles for days.
Yeah now you are just looking for excuses to make him look bad at every turn.
VDS gifted the opposition a goal in a Champions League final when he was 25, I think we can survive De Gea making a few mistakes in the PL when he's 21.
Depends how the keeper reacts to mistakes, a few mistakes completely destroyed Ben Foster at the top level. Luckily De Gea looks like nothing phases him, I mean I don't remember the last time a keeper got the same treatment he's recieved from the press over a long period.

De Gea looks a good prospect and has improved of late.
My issue is the fact we were not looking for a good prospect we needed the finished article and at the money we spent that is what we should have got.
By that arguement, are you saying Phil Jones is the finished article? Comparative price tag? I do know what you are saying but 18 mil is a snip when you conscider how good this kid can become if he is nurtured the right way and United are the club to do that(although we have a bad record with keepers)
