David Beckham, the most unlikely return in history?

Just a pointless one then or did I miss something?

Missed the part where I said I keep forgetting he is actually playing football these days. Largely this is down to my own ignorance over MLS though so it wasn't a serious suggestion.

I do think he would be more beneficial to United off the field than on it but obviously that isn't looking at it from Beckham's own personal perspective.

China or one of the arab states seems likely given the money they could throw at him, you'd wonder if his kids would be up for it though. Paris possibly with his family staying in London but he'd not good enough anymore really

Its all nonsense anyways, he'll only be going through the motions for a year no matter where he ends up. The only exception of course would be if he came back to us where i've no doubt he'd bust a gut but there's more chance of SAF signing me than him tbf

Had his final chance at europe last year, not gonna happen. This grandad needs to retire.

Much as i love him, i hope people are joking about him being able to play here anymore.

Might as well stick around and tarnish his legacy further then!

China anyone?

Take brand Beckham to the next level.

No way could he cut it in a real league anymore.

I'd die a little inside if we lined up with Scholes, Giggs and Beckham in midfield in 2013.

I have to ask: do many of you watch him on a regular basis in the MLS?

I don't, I'm very honest about that, I just see a few videos now and again of him scoring belters with his right peg. What I said about wanting to see him back at the club is only down to nostalgia, as I said, and not based on what I think he would bring to the team (although we could use his passion and spirit). So my question is: to those saying he's past it and couldn't cope with the pace of the PL, is it due to seeing him playing regularly, or just because of a combination of his age and the fact he plays in an admittedly weak league?

Age, standard of the league he plays in now, the position that he plays in and how complete lack of pace will affect him there. No way could he be good enough for us anymore.

I havent watched him play of late, as i think is clear from my post.

Has anyone actually seen him play recently? He won player of the season award in the MLS, over Robbie Keane and Henry who both looked decent when they came back. Not suggesting we sign him, but how much of a player is he nowadays?

He's still a player, great passer of the ball that never ever relied on his pace anyway. He just doesn't give 90 mins like he used to. Could still certainly do a job for someone. I have no idea why many on here think Scholes and Giggs can do it at United and that Becks who's the youngest of the 3 and was always the fittest of the 3 isn't good enough for the league anymore.

Him, Giggs and Scholes in out central midfield will outmach even Barca.

Seriously no, a great player he was for us but that's it.

It would be great to have him as a subsitute. Whap him on for the last 20 minutes with Hernandez, and watch the latter head in all the magnificent crosses Becks puts in

To bring him back just to play a few games to boost the team would be brilliant.

No way this will happen, he's fairly past it.

I'd absolutely love it if it did though

This pretty much. He's still so awesome in so many ways. Being a premier league footballer maybe isn't one of them, though.

Havent seen him play for a while now so maybe someone who has can correct me but i really doubt he isnt good enough to play in the prem altogether. Not good enough for us i agree but the prem isnt full of quality players.

He's 37, younger than Scholes & Giggs and he has always been fitter than both. He delivery/passing is still second to none. Those who think he wouldn't be a good signing the likes of QPR are absolutely clueless.

Exactly, people massively underrating him because of the league he plays in.

This thread is so funny.

The cafe spends the entire weekend in meltdown because our great manager had the termerity not to agree with them and pick Ryan Giggs over more youthful midfield options. Some of the views were an embarrassment.

And yet here we are, with more than a few seriously desiring that we sentimentally bring back a 38 year old who has not played PL football for 8 years back into our team.

What nuts. Still I guess you can all sign him in your FM13 squads and play him to your heats content there!

Let's have a look at the last week on the Caf.

In a few threads, we've had people who can't understand why Ferguson starts with Giggs in midfield(who's too old and we've got better options).
Ferguson is too sentimental, they said.

And then we have the Ronaldo thread bumped that he should come back to United, and another one in which people write about Beckham and how cool it would be to have him back at United.

Hehe.
