David Beckham: A pathetic joke footballer

This thread was stupid then and it's stupid now.

Indeed. Legend7

At least that Milan game (home and away) proved to a lot of the idiots who were posting earlier in this thread that the majority of reds understand that Becks is a United legend.

I've never understood this Beckham hate by some of the Manchester United fans.

When he was with us, he was terrific and always gave his all. I haven't ever seen him slagging off in public, he has been pretty complementary about us and fergie in the media ever since he has left. He has had a terrific career(100 caps for England, playing for Spain, England and Italy's biggest clubs) and always comes across as a genuinely nice guy.

He'll always be a United Legend for me. The only shame that his career with us ended on a sore note.

This.

You know this Scholes and Giggs are loyal business is a bit unfair, neither of them had the star system thing like Becks or Ronie (and dont say they chose not to, Its just to do with looks, handsome & talented footballer etc) and you dont know how they would have acted if Real or Barca persistently offered them millions and a chance to spend some millionaire years in sunny Spain

Loyalty at Manchester United may also entail turning millionare years in sunny spain down. BTW Giggs could have easily became a star like Beckham. He had the looks, he became a first teamer with United at a much younger age and with all due respect to Dave but Giggsie had much much more talent then him. Ryan preferred to turn his back to the glamor of Milan and concentrate on his career at United. No wonder why at 37 he is still at United while a younger Becks is playing soccer with mighty Galaxy.

Some embarrassing shite being spouted in this thread. Deary me.

Beckham was fantastic for United and clearly hurt to have left the club. He is one of those rare players who would have been a lifer, in the mold of Giggsy and Scholes, had he got the chance.

As for his career? I very much doubt he will lose any sleep over it.

I don't hate Becks but with all due respect, if he was so hurt of leaving the club then why he acted as a cnut (in his last years with us) forcing the boss to sell him up? Or is it the case of SAF being wrong while Becks being right?

I treat Becks at the same level or Ronaldo (not talent wise of course, the latter was a much better player). With the slight difference that as a homegrown talent and a supposed united fan I expected him a bit more loyalty and commitment from his part. Lets face it, if it wasn't for United he would have probably been nothing.

I have been lucky enough to meet him and I could not believe someone as famous could be so polite, approachable and sincere. A legend off the field as well as on

Is anyone else not really comfortable with a thread popping up at the top of the page for everyone in the world to see on Redcafe called
David Beckham: A pathetic joke footballer ?

Because I'm not

How can we get rid of it, join me in a petition to the powers that be

This thread is such a joke, I just read it through thinking it was started as a wind up.

Acting a cnut and forcing the boss to sell him?!!

What the feck are you on?

I've always said Beckham is a great ambassador for United. Every time he's interviewed he has nothing but good things to say about his time with United.

I did disagree with him being in the England team a few years back as i thought that he was past it and the amount of younger right wingers England had they should get a chance. But he made me change my mind on that and showed that he is still a great player to have in the squad, and it's a shame he's been dumped the way he has.

But he was a great player for us, left before he really began to dip, and we wouldn't have been the team we were in the late 90's without him.

His clashes with SAF and his unwilligness to commit himself with a long term contract was the reason why he was sold.

A footballer at the top of his game unwilling to commit on a contract ? Money ya think ? Surely not in the modern game !
As far as the 'clashes' go, even after a boot to the head Beckham still says that Fergie is a father figure and he has the upmost of respect toward him.

Believe one side of every story you're told do you? How much do you actually know about it?

I know for a fact there the club wanted to sell him and bring in Ronaldinho as early as November, well before the boot incident and any supposed new contracts. I was told by MV Magnier 6 months before he was sold, so it always makes me laugh when people trot out the club line..Though I can't blame them....However even if it was true, Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand have both held out for new contracts and don't get tarred as unloyal cnuts.......not to mention that every single interview and action regarding Becks ever since paints him in a light that makes him wanting to leave seem unlikely at most, and not cut and dry at the least, and hugely respectful and loving of the club in the extreme...No such thing as bygones to spastic fans it seems...even if the things regarding him were all true....

But by all means, believe what you think paints him in the worst possible light and ignore everything else so you can mumble on like a spastic about what a "cnut" he is.

Ha, this is like the Roy Keane threads but with a change of name. Always had a soft spot for Becks, such a likeable chap.

So you're saying that SAF allowed Becks to end up in this frame up? Keane and Rio held out for new contracts but ultimately signed long term deals and none of them were homegrown talent who owe the club everything.

I don't care what Beckham says in his interviews. What I care about is that thanks to his attitude and his money pinching tactics, he ended up being sold. He didn't even let the club make maximum profit out of him (Barca's offer was better then Real) and that was after the club made him rich and protected him even when his beloved Ingerlund fans wanted him dead and buried.

I dont think that Becks is shite and I definately dont hate him at all. I wouldnt have minded to see him return at United at one stage. I mean if a former Liverpool great who's a mere shell of what he used to be can end up wearing the red shirt then why not Becks. On the other hand dont tell me to treat him at the same level of Scholes or Giggs. He simply dont deserve that.

Even if he isn't what you class as a Utd legend, why would you have contempt for a player that was magnificent for you and a massive part of the 99 season and still obviously holds affection for your club?

Absolutely mental.

why would Bobby Charlton say he refused a contract?

why would Bobby Charlton say he refused a contract?

Cos Sir Bobby is a liar and Mockney has 'inside knowledge' ;)

Please dont get Mockney started as I will then have to put him straight and it all end in tears!!!:lol:

must we all go through this again? Even Im being restrained since this thread was bumped cos its all been said before.

Anyway, Becks came back to United, got his farewell game and a lid has been put on this subject since.

please let me see Mockney in tears ;)

A player, who has shown so much love and respect for United whilst he was here and also after that, definitely deserves more love and respect from us than what has been shown in this thread.

Hmmm...Ok then. Put me straight then. I welcome it. Cos I'm completely sure you know exactly what you're talking about.

Bullshit. Rio got rightly slammed on this thread countless times for his contract issues, especially the first contract stall shortly after his suspension.

Yep, he was also booed in an end of season away fixture for flirting with Chelsea.

It's annoying when even a Scouser has more brains than some of you lot

Booing aside, Rio, Keane and Beckham have all gotten shit on here about their contract negotiations.

I don't understand it at all. Fair enough getting frustrated while the talks are dragging on but Rio and keane both ended up committing to the club and I don't believe for one moment Beckham wasn't willing to do the same. It's the end result that matters, not the speed of negotiations.

Sammsky: A pathetic joke for a poster.

That is my suggestion for a new title! ;)
