Darts

Total mental issue, it's basically a mind block, you go to release but feel that you aren't going to hit where you are aiming for and so you can't release the dart. That's why Aspinall re-grips often. His is more a grip issue, he manages to release the dart once the grip feels right. Some players literally seize up in their release and can't let go of the dart.
It's a mental thing imo. Never had it in darts but I did have the snooker version of it - just couldn't push the cue through. I got over it in the end by hitting every shot as hard as I could.

Didn't make any sense to me as I was always rubbish at snooker so it wasn't a pressure thing. It didn't come back though.

Hope Dobey just plays the game now, he has zero expectations now, just play darts don’t worry about the occasion.

Of course MvG comes out playing like Pikachu for the 2nd set  it's wild how they can go from not missing a thing one set to not hitting a thing the next.

I like MVG’s approach. No fist bumping his opponent after every big checkout, engaging with the crowd, singing his walk on song, no smiling whatsoever. None of that happy nonsense. Just pure anger celebrations. Class
