Darren Bent

Not even close to being good enough for United, and no-one will ever convince me otherwise.

Bent will never belong in the calibre of player we should be looking at. He'll end up at Spurs, or Newcastle, or perhaps one the strikers Liverpool buy and then wonder why they are 20 points off the pace.

didn't cole play for newcastle and yorke for villa before they came to united? judging by the base of your analysis neither of these or owen or shearer would be united quality. in fact only the home grown lads would be united quality. that is one critically retarded comment to make. players prove themselves at other clubs to such an extent that they essentially outgrow the smaller team. they end up leaving to seek self-improvement and to get a better chance to win medals and recognition on the world stage. muppet. players do improve at bigger clubs you know. i have absolute confidence that were darren bent come to united he'd be a huge hit with the faithful by his effort and goals delivered. don't letthis one get away guys. he'll be another missed opportunity. look how many shotson goal he's had in his developmentalyears. how many goals he's scored as well. his record is closely matched to eto's when at real m and look how in smacked it at nou camp.
personally i would rather we went for bent harry and nani for the wing with cash saved for january if it is evident we need a player.. we don't HAVE to spend All the cash available to us now.

We could have done with him against Milan, he could have done the whole ball holding up thing, in actual reality not just theoretical like Rooney.

Maybe the only game of our season we needed the ball held up.

No, we've had strikers doing that for most this season, Saha, Smith and Larsson started 44 games this season out of something like 60.

I ain't arguing with you about this in this thread mate. I didn't mean literaly.

I was right. That Bilbo lad seems like a arrogant child who merely wants a big name signing to spend lots of money so that he may brag to his mates "we signed 30m eto'o. who the feck did you sign?"

geezaaaaaaaz

Come on now, DB has had BARE shots on goal, as did Berba at leverkusen and look at the pokemon now. imo Bent can have the same impact - 20-30 goals a season striker, the one we've been searching for...

Bent is not good enough for United. Everton/Tottenham standard at best.

You may not make yourself understood to many posters, especially foreign posters for whom English is a second or third language, if you use slang.

Just a helpful suggestion.

Oh, and I don't like Darren Bent. And United, barring two exceptions, have never had 30 goal a season strikers, nor do we need a prolific striker if Saha gets fit.

:p, ok coo.
But what if we could get a productive striker who could fit into our system>?< a different kind to Saha but just as effective..

Oliver Holt has brought up Bent and how he might want to move. Downing and Young were a big reason for him to sign for Villa and now they look to be off. I know he's ex Spurs but I think he'd be a great signing for Arsenal. Probably too expensive though for them, and they look to be getting Gervinho.

Well he only moved in January for a reported £24m I think it was so would think he has got atleast 4 years of a contract to run anyone wanting him will probably have to break the £30m barrier I would think. Good striker who will get goals but I'm not sure if anyone will pay that kind of money for him.

Surely Villa will have to bring in some decent replacements for Downing and Young, keeping Bent happy in the process. They'll definitely need to bring in at least one winger. Provided they have some cash they could be in for players like Bentley, N'Zogbia, SWP, maybe even a cheeky attempt to bring Milner back.

I think Ireland is a quality player, if he gets his head and fitness together he could provide great supply for Bent. They also have a few quality youngsters in Albrighton, Bannan, Delfouneso, Delph, Clarke and Hogg.
