Of course you could also be a man, strip naked, and go feck up Havel and get his ring to help with your weight load
Im slightly ashamed as id rather do it all solo, but it's not too bad.
Im nervous about some of the stuff coming up though. Shrine of Armana seems to be something that gets mentioned a lot.
Any gear tips? Most of my gear is Dreaglic (whatever it is). Needs Twinkling Titanite to upgrade
What @Redlambs said below: your equip load determines your roll speed (and stamina recovery). Over 50% equip load you "fat roll", between 25% and 50% you have a slightly faster roll and below 25% is fast roll. I recommend the latter (Havel's Ring and the Ring of Favor and Protection both help a lot if you want to wear heavier stuff and keep it below 25%). You level Endurance to increase your equip load (and stamina).I'm playing DS1, what should I level up? What effects how fast you move? I'm running around like a fat bastid, roll like one too. Can't remember what stat that was attributed to in DS II.
Or if you have a STR character then you can use the Dragonrider Bow But definitely prepare some ranged option because otherwise you will hate your life, you will hate From Software and probably hate mankind in general. It's important to be able to fast roll for Shrine Of Amana (as with the rest of the game, really!) so light gear is a must, as you will be dodging lots of magic projectiles. If you prefer blocking to dodging then bring the Watchdragon Parma or Magic Shield
Spell Quartz Ring +2 helps with this area also, it is available in a chest after beating the second boss of Drangleic Castle.
If you have a DEX character you should bring along a bow and plenty of arrows as ranged attacks are very helpful here, the Hunters Blackbow is found in Drangleic Castle and is one of the best bows in the game.
You're missing out, man. It feels really good to kill things from afar in this game. Useless against most bosses but still. Always have ranged options. To this point I don't think i've used a bow at all. In fact, whenever I have tried (despite having arrows equipped), nothing has happened

And @Siorac I take it the Undead Burg is the first place I go to, yes? Because that bastard one shotted me (Havel), so I avoided him and went the other way, got raped by some demon boss on a bridge. Didn't help that there was two shits shooting me with arrows from above.
Yeah, he'll do that no matter what, so go naked and doooooodge!
Maybe try after the demon bridge boss though and get a little further into it. Oh and if it helps, you can kill those archers first and maybe you might find an advantage from way up there
Kill stuff near the big golems that hold bowls.I just can't get into that bloody castle. There's so much going on outside. And it's a hell of a trek from the Shrine of Winter.
Do they ever plan to remaster the first Dark Souls? I have the PC version but find i'm much more committed when I have the console version.
Fair enough. But weird though when you can just add graphical mods to the PC version and get a updated 60fps version anyway
There's two reasons really.
My PC sounds like a chainsaw when it has to do any sort of work, which becomes very irritating when trying to play a game.
And since I started doing my Freelance work ive tried to rid my PC of as many distractions.
The huge irony of all that is that I run my PS4 through my PC monitor anyway and the work in question puts just as much of a strain on my PC
If you're a knight, focus on strength, dexterity and endurance. The quality build (40/40 in strength and dex) is a good build for your first run.Started playing the remaster. Bloodborne was my first of these type of games and loved it and with DS3 coming soon I thought I'd better try it out. Was tempted to pick a mage but I've seen people say in the past it's cheating a bit so went with knight as my class. Any tips or things I should know going from BB to DS? I'm not very far just into the forest area. I went the other way first but some massive fecker knocked me off the edge so I grabbed my souls and went back. Any tips on what to level up first?

To be fair I'm playing the PC version of Dark Souls right now and it's a bit annoying. Like I'm playing at 30fps instead of 60 because apparently there are a few glitches if you play at 60. Not to mention you have to install a couple mods just to get it to play at 60, and fix a bunch of glitches that weren't present in the console version. Not difficult to do by any stretch but it might turn some off.
Even then, I still can't get my ps4 controller to work with it. Works for every other game I've tried, but not Dark Souls. So I'm playing with a crap aftermarket x360 controller, which isn't ideal given the difficulty of the game.
Long story short, it's annoying how half assed the PC port of Dark Souls seems to be.

Thanks will do that
Don't forget adaptability, it seems to be the common early mistake ignoring that.
I have been upgrading that so that is good to see.
I'm having a pretty tough time with this Pursuer bastard. Weird as I found the giant too easy but this fecker has killed me 8 or 9 times now. One big difference I've noticed to Bloodborne is it takes a lot longer to heal and you have to stand still? Makes it very tricky when you are getting relentlessly attacked. Really enjoying it though I'm actually surprised how good it is. I expected it to be more clunky for some reason probably down to watching videos of it on the last gen consoles.
Adaptability helps with the healing time I believe, it affects animation speeds of a lot of things.
For the Pursuer, the best way is to practice his moves and learn to parry him. If you can do that, you can hit him with one of those giant bows (if you are fighting him after the giant in his area of course) which makes it a lot easier. Otherwise, he's the prime example of patience as you hit him once every so often
Or power up and take him on later
How the feck do you beat the Pursuer? It hits me once, drains half my health and then wallops me again while healing.

Loving this game I've been totally addicted to it. I just beat the scorpion lady. The area before was a bitch with all the mist and stuff.
I could never once pull that off. There doesn't seem to be enough time, simply enough. Eventually it was far easier to just keep dodging him and whittle his health down one poke at a time. Those giant ballistas in the arena aren't just for decoration...

The best time to attack him is when he did his super telegraphed dashing attack. You can easily sidestep that if you just move to the right and then get in a quick hit. Rinse and repeat. That early with the weapon you're likely to have it's going to be tedious but not as tedious as dying 10+ times because he's never in the right place for the ballista/you can't get the button prompt quickly enough and end up stepdancing around the ballista, swearing, until he recovers from the parry and destroys your sorry ass.
Did you free the bird-lady smith in that area? Note, you need a fragrant of yore.
She appears later in the game and you can trade boss souls with her for some awesome looking weapons.
Well I found it nigh impossible. What is screaming frustration for one is a breeze for someone else in the Dark Souls games, that's part of the beauty of it. I found Artorias very easy, didn't even recognize he had a power-up move, I thought that was just an explosion that you had to get the hell away from. But I raged at Quelaag and the Pursuer. It's a lot easier than you think, I've done it a few times and you can even hit him twice in the same move if you get him in the mid-ground area.

'Where the feck did you go, bastard, don't play hide and se.... oh, you're dead, aren't you?'Yeah, I raged pretty hard against pinwheel
