Television Dark - Netflix TV series

Has anyone found a really good season 1 recap anywhere? I thought it was brilliant but just started watching S2 and have not got a fecking clue what’s going on. I have a terrible memory for names/faces.
I had the same problem. There's so many levels and characters a recap video won't help too much but what I did I had a jpeg of "Dark family tree" open in a browser tab while watching season 2 so I would pause the show and look up names and faces each time I didn't know who was who or didn't recognise the name(s). Worked well for me.

EDIT: Watch out for spoilers if you look for the family tree images!

On another note, my wife initially tried to watch Dark with me but around the 6th or 7th episode after the you know what starts happening a lot, she almost instantly went from 'this is somewhat interest and I can try to enjoy it' to 'What !@#!@ nonsense @#$@#'!?'.

Also, sometimes I like to make that humming/buzzing (?) sound that's one of the main background sounds of the show, just to annoy her.

Good times.
Feck, I really don’t  Can you spoiler what you mean? I only recently rewatched 1 and 2 but this show is pretty complex.

Anyway, very keen for season 3! Probably the best show in what is largely a sea of garbage on Netflix.

Can't tell if you genuinely want that spoilered:D

I genuinely do! Now you’re making me think I need to rewatch yet again... I’ve clearly forgotten something crucial around ep 6/7...
Haha I was just making a general statement rather than anything specific. But it's a wonderful show isn't it? Please please please maintain the quality in season 3.

Ahh okay I think I misunderstood you. Agree though, great show.

The first time I watched the second season was a long time after the first. Now I've watched the two back to back and it made such a huge difference. I feel like I've almost lost parts of season two the first time around just because of how much time it took me to remember who was who.

So, ready for season three tomorrow.

Recap of seasons 1 and 2. I’m still going to need to google some stuff but it brought a few things back.

Early reviews are good.

On another note I've had no time and hence haven't even begun rewatching season 1 and 2.

Jesus what a head f*ck.

So Jonas is now in a world where he doesn’t exist so I guess now he can do things to stop the apocalypse without worrying about himself disappearing.

Everything is similar but slightly different. Ulrich is with Hannah but cheating on her. That cop no longer has an eye patch but a missing arm?

Very confused by the end. Obviously whatever old Martha was saying but mainly young Martha goes back to 1888 where middle Jonas is in H G Tannhaus’ place I’m assuming trying to make some time thing work. But does that mean she’s gone back to 1888 in the original timeline? Because middle Jonas is surprised to see her alive and she mentions she’s not his Martha.

Surely middle Jonas knows this because he’s currently experiencing that as young Jonas.

Currently rewatching season 2. Will have to come back to this thread next week once i am done with season 3. Have a feeling it will be epic

I assumed it was a third timeline where Martha #2 doesn't appear after Marta #1 dies, but does that mean the middle Jonas we've seen all along is actually not our original timeline Jonas, which begs the question is Adam our Jonas or the other timeline Jonas.

Basically I have no idea, but it took me until the two cleft lipped characters mimicked each other before the garroting to realise they were the same person, so I may just be a bit dull.

Martha in the yellow coat

Just finished it.

what a series this has turned out to be. So many things that ill probably understand in detail after watching some videos or reading about them. The plot was relatively straightforward though, in relation to S1 and 2 Dark. This was a more of a neat tying together of the ends and the middle pieces.

My biggest gripe of the series has almost always been the inevitability of actions and consequences in a pre-determined cycle, which tbf the show owns completely. S3 provided a subversion but a bit too late and rather hurriedly I felt.

Also, the cleft men had potential to be a really powerful agent of chaos but they were a bit of a damp squib finally.

Have to say I preferred the first two simply because I was more invested in all the characters and their fates. Great finale though. 4/5

All the females in the other world have bangs now.

Things not looking good for the 2020 survivors. We knew Peter died from what young Noah said but damn that was brutal. And now Katharina killed by her own mother.

Obviously this season is about the light and dark. Jonas vs Martha. Feels very LOST-like.

That was a nice call back to what Bartosz says to Martha in S2 about there being dead/drowned women in the lake. Also, feel sad for Ulrich just waiting there for Katharina to come. His entire arc is pretty sad.

Finished it.

Think the season started well, then got a bit dragged and redundant in the middle but picked up towards the end. Last couple of episodes were great and ended things quite neatly.

3 episodes into the third season and I've little idea what's going on. I know who is who and where they are, etc (expect for that weird cleft lip trio, but I don't think we're meant to know who they are), but I don't really get what's happening. Like what are their motivations for what they're doing.

Enjoying it all the same.

Also finished it.

Its been a fantastic show and I think I got around 90% of it which was enough.

I don’t think it was as good as seasons one and two, and it kind of got too convoluted for its own good at times. I mean half of the season was just rewatching the same plot points happening in a slightly different world. It did lag a bit in the middle of the season but they tied it up nicely.

Found myself checking the family tree a lot and also sometimes being confused as to why certain characters were in certain times and why things were possible with the laws in the show (Tronte popping up now and then, there seemingly being 4 Marthas, older Jonas managing to go back to after he shoots her to change things even though that never happened? Probably a lot more and I’m sure there definitely are plot holes in a show of this nature) but I mostly got it and enjoyed it.
Very annoyed we never found out about Woller’s fecking eye

Also the cleft lip trio. Why were they killing people? They seemed a bit pointless in the end.

Also was nice to hear Bloc Party in episode 7. Unexpected!

Does it manage to not suck completely in finishing things that were started over the first two seasons?

I remember enjoying the first season but even whilst watching it, I kept getting confused with the characters. So when the second session came, I was completely lost and gave up.

Shame, as it looked really good.

It does a solid job of it though it does get quite confusing at times. Helps that they planned for three seasons from the get-go.

The more I think about it the more I realise I didn’t really like this final season. Everything kind of lost it’s importance. There are so many different versions of the same characters that anyone dying basically completely lost all meaning and every scene seemed to end with someone about to do something until a door opens and it’s Future/past/younger insert character here to announce/do something and keep things on their course. And in the end both worlds don’t exist so none of it really ever happened.

It's obviously a monumental effort when compared with the chaff that's on streaming channels otherwise but yes I agree in essence with the first 2 being my picks over this one.

Binged season 1 and 2 early this year. Turns out I’d already forgotten stuff and am utterly confused after watching 1st two episodes of s3

can anyone recommend a youtube summery of everything from s1 and s2?

Fantastic show. Season 2 was the best, but i also liked the ending. Pretty much everything was explained.
It wasn't super spectacular, but i knew the beginning had to be something different than it was claimed all the time. If you watch season 1, 2 and 3 at once, it is really a great expereince, much better than if you only watch season 3 and have forgotten half the things from previous seasons.

Great show. Had to watch season 1 and 2 again but season 3 was worth it. Shows what Netflix can do with proper investment. Seriously hoping Netflix sees the light and stop wasting money on stupid movies and shows and do more stuff like this.
Netflix India is really throwing money in gutter by producing rom com stuff. Hopefully with Dark trending number 1 in India it will change. Come on Netflix we want shows like this and not the rubbish that you are producing as local content.

Though you do realise their larger target demographic watches teen trash and soft porn...you're a minority who has already subscribed, you're going nowhere.
