Danny Rose

Your entitled to your opinion mate.

What has Shaw ever done to prove he is better than Rose? Rose at full fitness was really good for 2 seasons, Spurs still miss him imo as he is a superior player to Davies. Shaw was average in first season, broke his leg early in the second and has been very disappointing since.

Signing Danny Rose to solve our LB position problem, looks like one of the dumbest ideas we've had. And we made some appalling transfers.

I don't think Rose is the same player since his injury - he may just need more time but it's certainly not an investment I'd be making.

He was genuinely the best LB in the league last season, attacking wise at least. That player would have been a great signing - Serious red flags with him now. That injury was obviously worse than initially reported so tough to know what damage it may have done.

Mail saying we want to give them Shaw in exchange.
I think Shaw should go. I see no point in keeping a LA the manager has no fair in.
What I can't get is, Rose hasn't played at a high level for over a year now. We need someone to hit the ground running.

Who is the journo reporting it?

I think under the right manager Shaw can become a top-class fullback, but it’s pretty obvious Jose isn’t that manager, so it’s best to part ways.

Rose has been poor this season, but I imagine that’s primarily due to his lack of motivation/consistent game time after injury; I feel he wants United. At least he’d have a blank canvas next season upon which to discover his best form again.

I can’t see both both Alderweireld and Rose heading to Manchester this summer, with Martial perhaps going the other way with Shaw as well. If you want Mourinho to win, he has to have his players; Martial, Shaw and dare I say Pogba don’t have the character to succeed under him.

How do you group Martial and Pogba in with Shaw? What is the evidence that they lack character? We've been playing both of them regularly. Martial has only played more football as the season has gone on. Pogba has had a bit of a blip in form, but to write him off is incredible. I have been a big supporter of Shaw, and I still think he can develop into a high-quality footballer, but there is no comparison between him and the other two based on their contribution to the team.

Psychology varies from manager to manager; Shaw needs love to flourish, not tough love. Plus playing fullback under Mourinho is different to others. You sense Shaw is constantly playing with the handbrake on under Jose, whereas Pochettino would encourage him to raid forward at will.

Some words of truth there, but with regards to Shaw specifically, lets not forget that Van Gaal & Moyes both had issues with Shaw's professionalism.
He has also been called into question in the England camp, and if I'm not mistaken, was also called into question as far back as his Southampton days.

Shaw's definitely not becoming a regular here, despite that "I see no better left backs" PR line from Jose.
Otherwise a veteran winger wouldn't be keeping him out so easily.

Not sure we can take the risk that Rose will get back to his top form now though. He's basically treaded water for a season, like Shaw has.

Proper interpretation of the story: "Danny rose and agent hope Manchester united will be interested in his services."

We are not interested in a player who has struggled with injuries through the season.

I don't think Shaw has been as bad as some people are saying. Sure he's not been perfect but neither is Young. Youn was good against the scousers but before that his form was not that great. I still think Shaw has a future with us. When Young was injured I thought it was 50/50 whether Shaw would remain a starter when Young got back. Don't think we can rely on Young for much longer though so would love to see us sign Sessegnon.

I think all those pieces are just there to make us angry
Next it will be a straight swap for Martial.

Danny Rose has declined. He's injury prone. He really really doesn't want to be there. He's lost his place to an OK left back. His value is way down. And we don't want him (I hope).

Absolutely. He's lost his place at Spurs, and if he was fit and £40m better than Luke Shaw, he'd be playing. Levy can keep him, and continue to pay a player to sit on the bench... the shrewd businessman that he is.

Don’t care about this news. Spurs wants to sell danny rose because they need money for salary.

Just what we need. Swap an injury prone left back for an older injury prone left back.

Not sure why the papers keep linking Rose to United, but surely Jose himself can't be that stupid himself to sanction such a deal?

I just totally don't get the Rose link, yeah we need someone in that position, but he's not exactly young, and he's a total sick note. It would be a shocking bit of business from us.

He's had a good season overall mate - and especially before Liverpool. Had a long run of good/United-standard games where he was sound defensively but also brought in some good crosses and goals. To compare his season with Shaw is kind of strange to me.

I agree he's been a bit tired/not so good in the last 3-5 games though. And we need a replacement for next season, as he's only getting older.

My guess is that we were interested last Summer which was understandable, but the media now can't let that go. Can't see there being any way we're interested in him after this season, certainly not at anything like the suggested amounts.

£40mil and he's hardly played this season? They must think we're some kind of poppy show.

I trust Jose to find a better option.

If we sign Rose it’s because we need a left back and we can’t keep signing foreign players. I think people forget this sometimes. We need homegrown players and those who are available and of any use are few and far between.

I'd be raging if we sold Rose and replaced him with another mega crock like Shaw. I would glady see Rose sold though.

Homegrown players isn't something we lack.

I'd rather stick with young if the LB we're signing is gonna be Rose. Injuries aside I don't even rate him that highly and for 40m+ I would not go near it.

Shaw hasn't been injured since August, just out of favour. Not that I think there's any truth to the rumour.

Hopefully its just newspaper bumpff....
I mean £40m for a crocked reserve is daft to begin with but then to also throw a 22 year old that we paid £30m for into the deal....
So a total of £70m package..???

He would have to be head and shoulders the best LB on the planet to even consider a deal like that..!!

Maybe because they've been tipped off.....?

Could be right.

I do always find with these stories if a player is linked to a club through multiple newspapers someone has been tipped off from the club off the record somewhere down the line.

It's same when rumours of a manager getting sacked gets leaked in 3-4 papers and it usually then happens.

What's clear is Mourinho has stated he wants new FBs (similar to Pep last summer), Rose seems to be a player he rates and you also have Shaw wanting out and Pochettino being a manager who got excellent form out of him so potential for deal is there I think.

Homegrown players isn't something we lack.
It will be if we sell all the players people on this forum would like us to. Carrick is gone in the summer, Shaw likely to be gone and people want Smalling, Jones and Young gone.

Jones, Smalling, Tuanzebe, Young, Lingard and Rashford are all English whilst Pogba, McTominay, Fosu-Mensah and Pereira all also class as homegrown players so we’re fine on that front and better off than the large majority of other clubs.

Why we aren't going for the likes of Alaba I don't know. He has everything we need on that left side. A good balance between attacking play and defensive ability.

I know he is a big player at a big club and won't come cheap, but that's where we are at in the transfer market nowadays right?

If you want the best, dig deep and pay the money
