Danny Rose

Nope but saying Rose being out is why Alli hasn't been great this season so far is just as wrong, he has since being in the Prem had stronger 2nd half of season than 1st

That's not what I said.

I'm sure there are a number of variables that have contributed to Alli's poor form this season, Danny Rose being injured among them (in my opinion) but clearly not the defining factor, though.

He hasn't been all that this season with young performing to a much higher level and we decide to splash 50m quid on him? There are much better alternatives out there.

Yeah, 50 million is too much. We aren't paying that.

Throw in darmian or blind. Juve going to need a replacement lb. darmian is better than anything than can find in Italy

Darmain is rated pretty highly in Italy - i reckon if we offered him we'd get a good shot at Sandro. Better than any cash only deal anyone could provide.

I am curious how much spurs fans rate him? Better than walker? Nothing special?
And yes- we should go for sandro

Can't see it, Glaston told us Spurs will never sell to a direct rival

Guys why is Ben Davies not the target here? He has been one of there best Spurs players for the past year and is consistently performing at a high level (unlike Rose who looks a shadow of his former self) he is also the better defender of the two (OK not as good going forward maybe) plus he is younger and we could probably get him for a lower fee.... We will end up paying 50mill for a guy with a lot of question marks hanging over him if we sign Rose...

My thoughts too. Pretty sure Ben Davies has had a pretty high end product too. Good amount of assists compared to games

Matt Richie doesn’t play for Spurs so the analogy is sadly stupid. Trippier replaced Walker in the same position, same set up, same team. He started doing so from the latter part of last season.

“Stop obsessing about stats” is the classic response to someone using stats to augment his argument. I’ve watched Spurs plenty, their wingbacks play very well and have drawn praise for basically every pundit too. The reason Spurs are not performing to last season’s standard is not because they are missing Walker.
Is it? You're using stats to say why a player is not missed. Surely playing for a better team would lead Matt Ritchie to even better stats.

Stats are the refuge to which the clueless cling to.

IMO very good fullback, very solid in defence and while doesn't get a great deal of assists or goals he stretches the play and creates space in the final third. Is yet to be seen if he will get back to his best form, but honestly don't see any reason why he wont. On the negatives, as you all know he has a bit of a mouth and ego.

He is under contract until 2021 so being English and all the I say Levy will expect £40-50M for him.

Honestly think people underestimate how much he would transform our team. Really, really hope we sign him.

In my opinion, Ryan Bertrand is just as good, a few inches taller and far less injury-prone.

Would be happy with him, Sandro or Bertrand. They would all be an upgrade.

Thanks. Tell me, as spurs fan, you rate him more than walker? And his technique? Is he good in that?
Don't get me wrong, i watched him a lot of times but i just realise that i never pay intention to him. My opinion was quick and good crosser. That is it.

Don't know what to think about this - is he that good?
Not sure.

Good technique on the ball and IMO a better footballer than Walker, obviously doesn't have the physical qualities Walker possesses but for his size he is as strong as a bull. His crossing is good yea, he was a winger in a previous life.

Rose wants to leave, Davies is someone who Spurs want to keep.

feck you, now i want him:)

So with Shaw impressing tonight, especially offensively, is selling Shaw for about £10m and buying Rose for about £50m a smart move?

Yes because one game makes a big difference on whether we should sign players or not.

Also signing Rose doesn’t mean we need to get rid of Shaw. We could move Young to the right as competition to Valencia. But Shaw has a lot of work to do to stay at the club. One performance isn’t going to cut it. He has to back that up in his next game.

That's not really a decision you make based on one dead rubber CL group stage game.

Personally I'm not too keen on Rose but we definitely need to sign a LB, preferably in january if possible. It's obvious Mourinho doesn't trust Shaw.

Good yes

It’s his fitness record which would be most worrying. He’s only breached the 30 game mark once in his career I believe? Bearing in mind Spurs have been in Europa League runs, cup runs etc over the last few years.

I just don’t see why we’d replace a super crock with a mild crock at a premium rate.

Agreed. I was only going off reports that I read that have suggested that Shaw would be the first full back out of the door if Rose was to come in. I think Shaw really needs a few more chances, like Mourinho has suggested he will get, to show his level before we make a decision in the January window.

Of course 1 game is not enough to judge but, at least in the first half, Shaw's dribbling and overlapping runs were more reminiscent of his form before his leg break, rather than his level last season. So, the question I raised will definitely be more interesting in a months time, whereby hopefully Shaw would have had more game time.

His defending wasn't great though was it? He seems easily beat to me at the best of times.

I don't want him (too expensive, coming off an injury, young is doing well and Shaw may come back strong) and I don't want AG7 either. Young, exciting and talented please and thank you. We are fine now. The team is turning the corner and we actually have plenty of quality and experienced players who can help younger players bed in. It finally feels like are getting fairly close to being a good team again, whatever happens against city.

The only time I remember him having a defensive lapse was when he let Fernandes through without tracking his run that led to the goal, but the fault didn't solely lie with him. Apart from that, I can't recall another defensive mistake and he most definitely wasn't easy to beat.

If Shaw gets more opportunities it'll put the shackles on this possible signing.

Top form fit Rose would be a terrific signing.

At the moment though it has everything up in the air about it.
He's hardly played for a year, the Tottenham/Levy issue, Young playing so well currently, and the Shaw conundrum - you buy Rose, and Shaw is 100% finished.

You don't get many big Jan signings anyway, so the only sensible situation seems to be reviewing in the summer.
But will we know by then if Shaw can be our left back? Or will it always be just one more year. It was like that for Jones, and we have been rewarded to some extent in our patience.

For 45-50m for a full back then it needs to be a solid gold signing. I don't think Danny rose is that. If its a case of just getting a player who's a bit better than we have then its a waste of money. 25m will buy you that.

There are rumors that Tottenham might be interested in Mkhitaryan swap for Danny Rose...... I think this might be a good idea considering his price tag.

What you guys think?

Rose is a crock so i hope we look elsewhere.

If this were true I'd offer Mkhitaryan + £15m in a heartbeat. Would genuinely be stunned if they considered some kind of deal with Mkhitaryan as a make-weight.

I think its probably bs considering the news outlets, but I just looked it up .... and apparently it has the highest chances with bookies..lol... according to Daily Star and of interest according to Daily Express. Initially heard about it from an Armenian friend that plays in the International team with him (again could be bs) that his manager is trying to land him at Tottenham.
