So let me get this right, criticise his performance today and you're an idiot. His poor performance is not on him but on Ole. Should have made a tactical foul on Salah but feck it what's the point.

Did you read what you posted? That is some ridiculous fanboy shite right there, you don't want to hold James accountable for anything.
Hauling down the last man and getting sent off isn’t a tactical foul

The state of this place.

Salah's goal was in the final seconds. The game over immediately from the kick off. The only way we are scoring from the Liverpool freekick outside the box is if it bounces off the wall and flew 50 yards to Martial for a 1 v 1 chance, and that is even if they decide to go for the shot. What's the point of doing a tactical foul, risk getting himself sent off and suspended for the next game? Our squad s already thin enough ffs

He started well this season but the wheels have come off somewhat. Should we really be surprised? Big step up from the championship.

He needs taking out of the team and we don't really have a great deal of choices. Greenwood is one but he's going to be playing instead of Rashford now so James will stay in team.

Squad is awful. No depth in about 4/5 positions.

Another forgettable performance. Was not in the game till the last 10 minutes.

Anonymous today. We’re just not using his pace in the right way. Put the ball in behind and get him to stretch his legs.

Criminal offence not laying that ball across the box For Martial. Really poor cross.

I don’t know how many times he did this but Liverpool sucked him in time and time again then just played the pass around him. I don’t know if Bissaka was supposed to have closed Robertson but whatever the plan was it wasn’t working.

Probably the right decision not to bring Salah down since it was pretty much the last kick of the game but I mean it’s Liverpool. Take that sucker out And take the red.

9 goals and assists isn't too shabby for a squad player at a top club. My big issue with him is his inability to dribble his man. As a wide player he really needs to learn this as he's mostly only effective when he can get a run on a player.

He's a kick and rush player who wouldn't be at this level without his pace. Technically he's miles off. His crossing is consistently horrific.

He isn't a squad player, he starts basically every game.

I wouldn't have a problem if he was a squad player.

Dan James' productivity, 3 goals and 6 assists in 1764 mins in the PL, is fine, especially for a relatively young player, who is in his first season in the PL. He remains on course for about 15 goals and assists this season. And that's without much of an understanding between him and the players he is attempting to supply. At times this season his team-mates have made almost no effort to get on the end of his crosses, as though scoring from 6 yards isn't their thing.

Compare his stats with those of elite creative players. In a full PL season over 3000 mins, Eriksen typically delivers around 20 goals and assists, Dele Alli similar numbers. Ozil at his peak for Arsenal similar rate though fewer mins so lower numbers. The currently in vogue James Maddison has 6 goals and 3 assists in 1871 mins in the PL. Last season he had 7 goals (including one pen) and 7 assists in 2877 mins. Maddison has scored 1 free-kick this season and 3 last season. Jack Grealish 7 goals and 5 assists in 1885 mins is performing better.

Felipe Anderson 9 goals and 4 assists in 3073 mins last season. 1 goals and 4 assists in 1378 mins this season in PL. Zaha 10 goals and 5 assists in 3046 mins last season (doesn't include penalties won). Nicolas Pepe 3 goals (including one pen) and 2 assists in 1259 mins in the PL this season. David Brooks last season 7 goals and 5 assists in 2317 mins. Ryan Fraser 7 goals and 14 assists in 3185 mins, in his other PL seasons his productivity rate was about 60% of that.

Eden Hazard 2014/5 14 goals (including 3 pens) and 9 assists in 3389 mins. 2015/6 4 goals and 3 assists in 2183 mins 2016/7 16 goals (including 2 pens) and 5 assists in 3050 mins. 2017/8 12 goals (including 2 pens) and 4 assists in 2451 mins. 2018/9 16 goals (including 4 pens) and 15 assists in 2935 mins.

The hard-working Willian has had 2 seasons in which his productivity rate is in line with 20 goals and assists had he played over 3000 mins, yet in other seasons 2 goals and 3 assists in 2439 mins, 5 goals and 6 assists in 2766 mins, 3 goals and 6 assists in 2123 mins. This season 4 goals (including one pen) and 4 assists in 1635 mins. Pedro has varied between an impressive 9 goals and 9 assists in 2178 mins to 4 goals and 2 assists in 1523 mins. In his first season in the PL he managed 7 goals and 2 assists in 2061 mins.

Alex Iwobi at Arsenal, 3 goals and 3 assists in 1471 mins in 2016/7. 3 goals and 5 assists in 1873 mins in 2017/8. 3 goals and 6 assists in 1974 mins during 2018/9.

Juan Mata at United: 9 goals (including one pen) and 4 assists in 2318 mins during 2014/5, 6 goals (including one pen) and 5 assists in 2907 mins in 2015/6, 6 goals and 3 assists in 1641 mins in 2016/7, 3 goals and 5 assists in 1942 mins in 2017/8, 3 goals and 2 assists in 1306 mins last season.

Of course, we need Dan James to improve. We definitely need him to be on the same wave-length as our other attackers, so that the runs being made match the type of cross delivered. Too often his final ball is poor, as was the case in the Liverpool match. His shooting looked great after his 3rd goal scored in the Southampton away game but since then hasn't looked at all convincing.

While I don't have a problem with Dan James being a regular starter in the PL, he should not be playing Europa League and domestic Cup games on top of that.

He his good as a squad player but he’s having to start every game because of lack of squad depth, obviously he’s got a lot of room for improvement, he started of the season well but is starting to drain. Next season if we buy sancho then james will be good to come on later in matches when opposition defences are tired.

The ones saying he's not good enough are probably same ones that were saying he's gonna be a worldie when he looked to have hit the ground running at the start of the season with goals and assists. Now that he's having a dip in form, which is reasonable given that he's never played at this level and is young with all the pressure that comes with playing for United, they all want his head.

We can't realistically expect James to banging in and setting up goals for fun especially with the team he has around him - it's not fair on him. I'm sure ideally Ole would have preferred to bed him in and protect him a bit more bit through no fault of his own, he's found himself starting week-in, week-out and expected to perform.

Take Salah down ffs.

If we were drawing 0-0 sure. We were already losing, and it was last kick off the game. Him missing three games with players already out would be even worse.

I reckon weve exposed James too much this season and relying on him too much to be a difference.

Saying that, he should have played Martial in at least once in the opening period of yesterdays game.

Still the player with most assists for United in PL this season (6). He hasn´t been great for a while and was poor against Liverpool, but it´s not so rare to have a dip in form some period during a season, and suddenly he´ll pick it up again. But that period should be over now, it´s been long enough. Maybe a shift over to the left will do him well.

He is a decent player but I do not really see any promise. He is lacking technically and is just generally limited. If he cannot use his pace, he seems to be nullified easily.

He is certainly not a player for the first team, and I am starting to question whether he even has enough for the bench.

He will certainly need to be replaced in the first team if we ever want to challenge for the title again.

People who are saying he only has pace and nothing else, so what? We signed him for his pace. He HAS IT, so to argue that hed be bad without it is pointless because he does have it.

It's his time to shine on the left. If he plays as a wide striker alongside Martial and Greenwood, I think he'll show a lot more than he was as a touchline-hugging winger on the right.

Hopefully he can get back to his early season form, he's a good player so I back him to do it.

Exactly. There have been loads of players who had decent/good careers just because of their pace. Those players might not have been world class players but had their uses for their clubs.

Eventually those players were replaced by players who were better because they offered more than just pace. I hope the same will be the case with James. Replaced because better players offer more or not replaced because he developed and is offering more than just pace. As long he is usefull and helps reaching goals like winning big trophies, even if it is only because of his pace, he is good enough.

Jesus, I can't believe the amount of people writing him off on here already.

It's his first season in the PL and he's playing in a team that has generally struggled for the last 5 years. He's got a few goals and what...like 6 assists? All whilst playing in what isn't his supposed best position. He's doing fine. Definite room for improvement, but fine.

He's probably not going to win the Ballon D'or anytime soon, but he's shown he could potentially develop into a good player for us.

Man Utd 0:2 Burnley
The lad has no end product whatsoever. Very disappointed with him.

He's been wank for a while. If we actually had a proper team we'd be able to bench him for a while and have him earn his place.

Not a chance of that now.

Championship player playing for a top Premier league club, kid must be pinching himself every day to check if he's dreaming.

Awful football, City buy Bernardo Silva, Mahrez and Liverpool buy Salah and Mane...

We buy a championship winger and expect him to be first choice.

Piss poor and is likely to cause more talented players to leave the club.

He isnt 'blocking' a more talented player from playing though... There just isnt any better player to play at his position. Lingard blocks Gomes from playing but in James his case there just isnt some talented young player who could play instead of James.

Needs a loan back to the Championship or maybe a top league 1 club! Got no business being anywhere near a starter for us at this stage of his career

3 goals and 6 assists says otherwise. He should only be a squad option though, not playing every game. It is an indictment of the club that we have played him as much as we have this year and it is an indictment of the coaching that he is not developing. I still think he can be a very good player for us in the longer term but he needs a break and he needs better coaching.

The last goal he scored was on Aug 31th. He has now gone 5 fecking straight months without a single goal scored and we're still counting. A stat I never imagined I'll see for anyone bar Lingard.

I don't know what his instructions were but he looked lost in the first half, drifting inside into traffic, giving the ball away cheaply too often. Good header from Wan-Bissaka's deep cross that required the keeper to make a save. One decent shot wide in the 2nd half. The few crosses he produced all seemed to get cut-out by the Burnley defenders.
