I would love to see him go on to be a long-term success at the club, and whilst its pretty unanimous that his effort and commitment levels are already of the required standard at Old Trafford, his overall talent level is still in question. I think there's a strong case of "best of a bad bunch" at the moment and this is exacerbated by the fact that he probably wouldn't be getting much of a look in at half of the teams above us in the league.

One thing that will undoubtedly be positive about him is that it will go down as a great piece of business one way or the other. Either we get 5-8 years of an excellent wing player to enjoy at Old Trafford who in all likelihood will be fiercely loyal to us, or we at the very least double our money selling him on in a few years, hopefully because we have signed more "sure thing" players.

This guy was a great business, but I could bet my left ball and claim that neither he or the club would expect him to play so many minutes at this time of the season.
I still can't tell if this is saying that James has imposed and is evolving or if it's due to our current state.

Deep down you know it is this

He is a good player, but he should not be in the first team. We seriously need some top quality players in our front line, so one or two of Rashford, Martial and James have to be sacrificed for the greater good.

The front line cannot stay as it is.

Man Utd 3:1 Brighton
How can you not love him?

Thought he was very good today. His delivery, especially long from midway in the half is really good, and he can do it on the run.

Keeps it simple but his passing is sharp, his final ball is consistently good and he makes good decisions. May not have the tricks that make great youtube videos but there is substance to his game.

Massively surprised by how good he is.

His pace absolutely terrifies defenders and has a good end product too, shame we can never take advantage of the fouls he draws.

Didn't put a foot wrong today. Is not going to score a shitload of goals on the right side but the balls he puts in are very good.

I am so glad he is proving my low expectations to be incorrect. Still early days, but I like the lad and he is a genuine threat and thorn in the opposition's side. He doesn't just blindly smash balls in the box and he uses his pace to great effect.

A good two or three occasions where he was wide open and the best passing option, but ignored in favour of Rashford.

Another terrific performance.

His decision making excellent for a winger. Doesn’t play with his head down which I expected when we signed him. Harsh to choose between him and Fred for man of the match.

Starting to convince me we don't need a right winger now

Certainly the number 10 position is far more pressing

Absolute bargain. His crossing is top notch.

Few more goals and we’d be talking about a real top player. Brilliant performance.

His vision is very good.
Agreed. He's picked out Rashford with a long diagonal pass countless times this season which prevents the defense from collapsing towards him which ends up allowing him to have more space to dribble. He's not one of those pacy head down wingers. He actually understands the game, and if he can add more goals to his game, he will be unstoppable.

I love him. Rapid as feck, great crosser, great dribbler, just lacks the shooting and finishing ability to be a truly complete winger, but I'm sure that will come soon.

The way He runs near the end of the game for that Rashford's chance.

He just never stops running and always working hard. My favorite United player and I haven't had any since Rooney left.

Best United player on the pitch today by far. He was excellent once again. 1 vs 1 , passing, crossing, pressing, dribling, good IQ and vision too. I hope he'll still injury free because without him we will be so poor creating chances. A young Championship player in his 1st season to carry on Utited...OMG!

Unfortunate to come out of the game with no goals or assists.

Interesting

Absolutely love the little Vroom Vroom of ours! That little shimmy he sold to their Dunc to set up Rashford was bloody amazing.

Should have had an assist. It's so good to see him take players on and what's even better that he seems to have vision and the ability to cross. It's great to do a job in the right side as we were desperately short there.

He should have had at least one assist today. He makes really good runs and puts in some good crosses.

He probably should have scored from that cross, but I think it might have been offside, anyway. Otherwise, great performance.

He’s not just a head down and run type of guy which is fantastic. There’s been players just as fast with no end product, but this kid can actually cross and pass!

another great performance, so pleased with him. Not only offensively but his work off the ball is so good also. Their midfield/defence can never rest when he gets flying at them

James's decision making was spot on today, knew exactly when to dribble and pass - this might sound simple but it's something that Rashford needs to master quickly to improve our transition in attack
