Haha that was amazing. He actually gave their CBs something to think about for the first time all game.
Yep it's amazing what a willing runner is able to do who times their runs properly.

Reminds me under Moyes when januzaj came into the team and it seemed like everything was upto him to carry our attack

He's so exciting to watch. He's gonna get into that zone where he's double marked
Which is fine as long as we have players around him to then make use of the free space...
Which is the issue

You can tell, just by watching him, he'll be a far superior player to Januzaj. Adnan had solid potential but I think the timing of his emergence, coinciding with United's decline meant we hyped him up far beyond what was seen on the pitch.

James - Martial - Sancho front three would have such potential in my mind

Man Utd 1:1 Rochdale
Injected some urgency when he came on but is clearly better on the left.

Chicharito would have loved this kid. Actually any striker worth their salt would love this kid. You would score tap inns all day long from his low crosses.

he did the one thing ive been wanting for so long, got to the byline and pulled it back. You always see City score loads of tap ins from that just by working the ball into that position.

He is better on the left purely because all our attacks are down that side. Each time he has played on the right he has delivered at least one excellent cross but our static forwards don't take risks.

Deserved scoring winning penalty. Seems like he's always contributing something that makes United supporters bit happier.

Weirdest part was how when he came on it almost felt like we were bringing on a long-standing senior player to help us rescue the game.

The only United player, aside from Greenwood, Wan and maybe a few others that’s actually worthy of the shirt at the moment.

Yes. We seem to have something different in our attack once he got on the field. He's instantly our most important player in attack.

He's one of those rare players you feel confident enough that nothing much will phase him. He will get out onto the pitch and give out as much enthusiasm and effort as possible.
A player who seems to both accept that sport is entertainment and yet at the same time a job,a profession. And like most professions its your love of it that should,in theory, make you want to progress/develop even more.

Whether he'll be a consistent member of the first team 11 is up for debate but i'm confident enough he'll be an integral member of a ,hopefully, successful squad.

Just gets on with it, tries to score and direct.

This really is James in a nutshell. He knows his job and he just gets on with it.

Got to say, I love him. He's just infectious. On and off the pitch he's just a bright person.

Looking like the best signing we've made in a long long time.

If he gets injured, we actually have no hope. And I must add, it's absolutely bizarre that this is the case!

Thanks Giggsy and Ole for finding us this diamond, and for less than it cost to get rid of Mourinho!

Yep. A very likeable person and a good player on top of it. Would it be fair to say he is by far our best wide attacking player? Who would have thought this about a 21 yo coming from the Championship. Along with Maguire and Bissaka our buys under Ole have been great; hope that continues next summer and in 2 years we might actually have a good squad to compete.

Agreed. He's a player that makes me excited when he gets the ball. One of the few this season to do that actually. It doesn't always come off but I enjoy watching him getting the ball.

I will say for someone coming straight from the Championship, and doesn't have that many professional appearances his attacking positioning is excellent. He knows where to be to maximise his strengths.

You know what else is amazing though; here is a 21 yo coming from the Championship to Man Utd under huge pressure and he plays with complete confidence. Not only that, but he had a major trauma in his family. This guy is a beast in terms of his will power and ability to concentrate. Talk about the mental qualities to be a Man Utd player...he is definitely one.

Exactly. It seems like nothing phases him. You see other players and they'll lose the ball and drop their heads for a few minutes. He just gets on with it. Works hard going backwards and tries again. Great mentality. We need more players like that rather than ones that shirk their responsibility and stand behind opposition players when we have the ball.

He seems like the only player in our squad who is actually trained to play football. It seems like he is the only one who understands that in order to win a game, score goals and create chances you are supposed to run, move into space, make some runs, etc. Even without mentioning his other actual useful skills with the ball.

Ole should probably use his videos to show the others how they should play.

Still has a lot of work to put in before he is a quality player. He is still massively raw, yet seems to be the only player we have that is a threat to anyone, which says it all really.

Every time I watch this boy he has a hunger for the game you rarely find but not only that he has the technique to accompany it.

He looks frightened already, imagine what he’d be like with a functioning team feeding him the ball higher up the pitch in even more dangerous positions.

What a talent he seems. Hopefully will continue to prosper.

Might have been an idea to have kept Lukaku if we had this guy feeding him. He is our only spark going forward.

It’s a sign of how much we’ve fallen that we’re having to rely on a raw young winger from the Championship. His been a breathe of fresh air but we shouldn’t have to be relying on him like we are.

Watching Lingard frightened to do something and just look for him is embarrassing.

I was fuming that nobody even tried to run at near post in the first half. The crosses looked poor because of that. We don't have a striker as simple as that.

Decent squad-player.

This. I think people are being way over top with his performances. He’s a breath of fresh air with the work rate and the amount he’s will to run with the ball, but I’m not sure if that’s just because we haven’t actually had a winger for so long.

He’s clearly got a good finish in his locker, but he looks really short of actual skill to beat a man, rather than using pace. Teams will and have started to figure that out.

I’m not criticising him, as he’s raw and learning, but he’ll need to add a lot to his game to start long term.

I really like James. He doesn’t play football like a fanny like your Jesse Lingard’s of the world. Instead of pretending to ‘look’ like a footballer, he actually just tries to be one.

As good as McTominay’s strike was, the only reason we even got there in the first place was down to James and James alone.

Agreed. Plays with the right attitude as well.

He should be a squad option but we are utterly reliant on him going forward.

From talk of how he wasn't going to be near the team and was nowhere near the level, to him being by far the only positive light in the attacking positions!

Pepe who? This boy is special. It's sad our attackers bar him and greenwood are woeful.

He showed last season he was really talented, im glad he's taken to the first team so quickly.
