CWG Delhi 2010

Just came back from the India-England hockey match, WHAT A MATCH!

Amazing atmosphere, we did tremendously well after being 3-1 down, tell you what I've been to many cricket matches in India but the Atmosphere today defeated all of the previous one hands down.

Even though I always do love watching England go out in heart breaking style, that penalty stroke was pretty illegal, just saying. ;)

Best game I’ve seen for awhile.

Those who watched? Was the judging as biased as they made it out to be? On NDTV, they were implying not just his match, but that the officials were biased towards the English in the boxing as a whole...but then on Sky last night, they were saying, No English Boxer had made it to even a Bronze medal fight.

Amir Khan's brother is in the Bronze medal match in his weight class, and was talking shit about England for not thinking he was good enough...hehe.

thats not what i saw, with the british vs indian fighter, cant remember their names, but the british fighter had several clear hits which weren't counted. He was the guy everyone was booing when he got his medal today. From watching the BBC coverage they suggest that the officiating was not up to standard. But i suppose each country believes the refereeing is bias towards the other side.
 
This Tom Daley fella is pretty decent isn't he?

Incredible match, absolutely loved it. India thoroughly deserved the win and played some wonderful hockey, England just looked for and converted penalty corners which is a tactic I really hate. Would have been a travesty had we lost in the penalty shootout with all the chances we missed.

Should be a great final tomorrow, hope we win but Australia are undoubtedly favourites.

today the whole crowd was cheering the irish whilst booing the english boxer. place went ecstatic when the irish boxer won :D
 
Finished with 101 medals. Not bad. Now to transform such performances to the Olympics as well.

When is the closing ceremony?

Well, went off quite well in the end...no major hiccups DURING the games. Many many sneezes before it. Just hope noone forgets the scams the OC was involved in. I have a feeling they won't be allowed to this time.

Delhi looked fantastic this past fortnight. Was an infectious buzz around the city...now, back to status quo.

Couldn't believe my eyes when I went there a week ago, it was fantastic and very very clean.
 
I think it time we remember the past. Samersh Jung won 5 gold medals at the CWG 2006. He didn't get a bronze medal at the olympics two years later. Its no knock on the feats of many a person whose got gold in this edition of the CWG, but we as a country shouldn't burden the talent we have with unnecessary expectation. Give me an improvement from the 2008 olympics where we won 1 gold and 1 bronze and i'll be happy that we're going in a proper direction.
 
There will be an improvement no doubt. But for a nation of 1 billion people, improvement from a single fecking gold and bronze was the bare minimum expected.

Fact is, there is no sporting culture in this country and unless this buzz is retained and some proper steps are taken by the media and government to promote other sports these 3rd world games will forever be the only events we will excel in.

To be fair, that was the first individual gold EVER if i remember correctly. Deora has announced something to the tune of 9 crores for the people who've won gold, now this is the kind of over reaction that i'm never a fan of. Even if the Indian Cricket team wins the Fecking world cup i don't want the government to reward them with crores and crores of rupees. Use the bloody money to improve the infrastructure. Use the money to pay these athletes properly. From what i hear, they are getting next to nothing when compared to cricketers and Sania fecking Mirza. Then again who is?.

Its not the quantity, but the quality. We were never blessed with the greatest endurance nor the build for the greatest speed. But 1 gold + 1 bronze is a fecking disgrace. 5 would be an expectation though somehow i feel thats expecting a bit too much.

I beg to differ. If given the right facilites and training we will excel there too.

How many Usain Bolt's are around the world ? In India there are all types of people. Have you seen the fecking huge haryavis ?
