CSKA open to Honda offers

He's had an EXTREMELY long injury, one that is meant to be a repeating one at that. He's an absolute wonderful player and I would take him here in a heartbeat. But what I'm hearing from Japanese fans is that he'll have a reoccurring injury problem much like Rio's.

He deserves to be at a bigger club in a better league. Hope it goes through. Wenger is a fool not to go after him. He's still pretty young, physical, great free kick, long distant shooter, can be the creative point or the striker, can play out wide... Everything Wenger needs. Better than Podolski in my opinion if both are fit.

We could do a lot worse than to sign Honda as our main midfield signing this summer...he's class and is out of contract in january so cska will probably be happy to sell...he's not bad at free kicks too

Isnt he a proper CAM like Kagawa? No use signing him now.

Well he plays anywhere in midfield and didn't do too badly playing alonside Kagawa in the Japan national team

If we are planning on using him on the wings, then no thank you. We already have average wingers. I would rather use Rooney on the wing than buy Honda and use him there.

Good, but not really good enough to play on the wing for us, absolutely not a proper midfielder, and worse than both Kagawa and Rooney at #10. So a resounding no, for me. It would be a waste of money.

He plays across the front 4 and not much deeper for Japan. He's more a striking attacking midfielder if you want to call him that. He's not really a playmaker.

Clearly you haven't seen the guy play that much... not much to add to what's already been said

In my opinion Honda is a better player than Kagawa at this point in time, and they would be competing for the same position.

He would be a great signing for a fair few clubs.

Whether he's a better player in general is up for debate, but he's not a better #10. Agree he'd be a great signing for most, though.

He looks good for Japan IMO because they lack a great striker... their striker I think generally is someone who runs the channels a lot which gives Honda the licence to be more central in the attack while also being able to drop in to CAM. Basically the Japan attack is built around Honda and is made to shine

Exactly. Honda's playing style doesn't really suit us. I can see him playing in Serie A though.

Why would you say that mate? I am curious not having a go.

When Honda plays for the NT he plays mainly as a roaming striker in advance of Shinji. (Usually from the right but interchanging with Maeda recently as a front three) Always pushing the lines and running channels but never with chalk on the boots style wing play. When Shinji plays for the NT he's like a left sided inside forward that dictates the tempo and controls the game with the runners around him.

I think Honda could play a strikers role in a league that isn't the EPL because mainly you need to be brutally powerful withstand a lot of the bricky challenges and in hacking in general.

Not to say Honda couldn't grow into that role but as a traditional winger in the sense that United uses I think both Kagawa and Honda aren't that type of player. Honda loves to get the ball in the channel and cut inside and drive to goal.

If the tables were flipped you'd say the same about kagawa.

Honda's a great player who'd walk straight into the starting XI of most top clubs, bar a few obvious ones.

But the only position in our team that he would have a claim on, is the AM position directly behind the striker. I therefore don't think we need him. If we're gonna sign a Japanese player right now, then we ought to go for Nagatomo imo.

Mostly just because Kagawa has yet to really establish himself at United. I daresay after this upcoming season Kagawa will have become the better of the two.

Fair enough. As far as the Japan NT goes they are both on par with each other and both look great. In general I just don't think United play the style that suits Kagawa 100% which is a bit of a shame.

I don't think so... he isn't gonna make the XI at Utd Real Barca Bayern so forth. And he wouldn't be guaratneed a spot at the likes of Spurs Arsenal and so on.

It really depends on what position the teams are lacking in, to be fair. He'd have a hard time finding place in the starting XI for Barca, Real and Bayern, but he wouldn't be completely doomed. For us he'd struggle because we have Kagawa and Rooney.

I don't think he'd have a hard time walking into the starting XI of most other clubs. There's obviously no clear answer to it, but I don't think the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Porto, PSG, Juventus, Chelsea, City and Dortmund would manage to keep Honda out of the starting XI. He might not have been the obvious first choice for some of them from the very beginning, but I do think he'd establish himself relatively quickly.

But this is all specualtion.

PSG have Pastore playing very well... no chance he would make it at Chelsea or City... Dortmund without Gotze now maybe... I don't know I think his performances for the national team are better than what he would suggest. Let's see if he actually gets a move to a top club and whether he can force his way in, like you said its all speculation. But my bet is that it will be tough for him.

In Chelsea he'd have to battle it out with Mata/Oscar. The former can play just as well as a winger. The latter hasn't proven enough to fall under the category "clearly better than Honda". It's pretty much the same story in City, since Silva can play as a winger.

Keep in mind that I'm not saying that he'd glide into the starting XI of these top clubs with ease. He'd have tough competition. My guess is just that he'd be able to edge it, most of the time.

Fair enough you're entitled to your opinion, you've probably seen more of Honda than me, that I don't doubt at all.

He is a good player I just don't think he is a great one.

I think Oscar is clearly better than Honda and the gap will only increase, by miles. He's a good player but almost all of the top clubs already have much better options and thats probably why he hasnt been bought already.

In Spain he'd only get in the team regularly at Atletico and down. In England Spurs and Arsenal.

Think he could work very well for Arsenal. Would also help them Commercially too.
