Cristiano Ronaldo

Cant think of a better no.9 than C.Ronaldo currently. And we in dire need for one no.9

Would you swap De Gea for Ronaldo?
Yes. As much as I love Dave, I love Ronaldo more especially after he has become a monstrous no.9, I am telling you Ronaldo will still be playing into his 36,37s. He has looked after himself tremendously, he's a super athlete like Ibrahimovic and will play into his mid to late 30s. He turned 32 in Feb and still producing stupid numbers, If and a big If we were offered to bring him home for 3/4 more years we should bite. It's Ronaldo for Christ sake.

Why on earth would Ronaldo come back????
He has everything he wants right now, all aspects of his life.

Not a chance, DDG is irreplaceable, which is why i would be shocked if Utd sold him, especially if he isn't trying to force a move through. I find it highly entertaining watching Real scamper about trying to find a keeper who is nearly as good as ours. We are Utd and we do not need to sell our best players to anyone, including Real.

Shit club never deserved him. Bloody ridiculous how fans can actually boo him it's very odd.
It's not odd at all. Fans boo players all the time in these parts, it's just cultural. I'm sure the borderline perfect Mourinho's or Villas Boas' Porto teams were booed sometimes in more boring or crappy games. It's a way of telling "you're not playig well right now", it means nothing. Is there a law of fanhood implying a game has to be a constant stream of applause?

Ronaldo was always precious in regards to that. Against Benfica he gave them the finger, against Porto he refused to reply to the questions in the flash interview and just repeated ad nauseum how happy he was to have knocked Porto out of the competition. What a way to allienate three quarters of the football supporters in your own country. Took him years of more mature behaviour and being consistently good for Porto and Benfica fans starting to appreciate him.

No other player reacts like that. He's a bit Trumpish in how is ego gets easily stinged.

Breaking Rooney's goal record must be tempting for him. Being the all time goalscorer at both Real and United would be a great achievement. There's no way he moves now though, maybe in 3 or 4 years.

As for the whistling, Real Madrid fans have whistled everybody. Zidane, R9, Raul, Casillas, Hierro, etc.. they still chant his name and show him love every game. It's just a cultural thing, he says he doesn't like it but he knows it will keep happening.

Strange how Rooney is put down constantly by some on this forum after giving practically his whole career to us while Ronaldo is still some sort of god when he ran to Madrid the first time they fluttered their eye lashes at him. Don't want him back.

Who are you talking about here?

The idea is you don't boo your own players but support them even through the tough times. Even when Ronaldo has been booed it's not even like he's been playing abysmal or anything and even when he has had an off game he's still produced that decisive moment. It's quite frankly ridiculous IMO.

Weather, family, culture. Cant see him giving that up to return to Utd.

Well, I'm talking about Ronaldo, and how he always had a terrible relationship with the booing (which fortunately for him never negatively affected his performance, quite the contrary), when other players just go through it as a natural thing. It's quite common for players associated with one of the big clubs in Portugal to be booed when playing against the rivals. Only Ronaldo (and a few other rare examples like Quaresma) reacts poorly to it, the part you bolded are just two notorious examples which made him unpopular among many local fans for a long time until those actions went forgotten.

The idea you mention might be true in England, but it sure isn't in our football culture. I've seen legendary Porto players being booed by a single poor decision mid-game, its pretty normal here, and quite frankly it means nothing.

Would be good to see him retire at Madrid. Coming back here which won't happen would tarnish his career at this stage. It's good to know we had one of the best ever players as part of our history.

He was booed albeit a very short period, perhaps 2-3 months after England was knocked out because Rooney was red carded for pushing him and his wink to the bench. Most likely United English fans are the one responsible.

If Rooney had left when he was still good, he would be just as revered. He is now shite.

That was mostly opposition team fans not United fans.

What you quoted from that 2nd link, how is that even related to a possible transfer? It is the same old shit people have been doing since the day he left, taking a comment that has nothing to do with him coming back to United and trying to say it does.

But I guess it would not be summer without his name cropping up again. I mean, it was not even a few months after he left us that the first talk of him coming back started up. Even after he dies there will be those who insist he is about to rise out of his grave, Zombie like, to lead United's attack again.

Ronaldo is like that girl who keeps calling her ex and saying how her current boyfriend is not treating her right, but continues to live with him because he has more to offer than you do.

The one that's so sexy even if there is the slighest meagre chance of any further action you put up with their whining and act caring and interested? Then her new boyfriend pays her a tiny bit of attention again and she drops you like a stone while jumping back on him? Yeah I know the one.

Guy's going to retire in LA, there's no coming back to rainy England for him, and I really wouldn't want him!

Would you want your childhood sweetheart to come back to you after she left at 24 saying she wanted to try something new, only to come back in her mid 30's after her stint in the "adult entertainment"?

:smirk: You think that low of Real Madrid huh

Two good moments against 2 teams I don't like at all with benfica and their Liverpool mentality in first place.

Yes!!!!!! She would be richer with a nice set of legs

Thought something had happened to see this being bumped.

Anyway:

Still would be better than some attacking displays under LVG.

More like red light district. Or seedy back street, take your pick depending on how much you dislike Real Madrid.

He's put down for good reason, as he was fairly disappointing in his last five years here, but yeah....he stayed on and collected enormous wages. Turns out Fergie was right in wanting to get rid back then.

That goal epitomizes the thing he's best at. Won't lie, that was a brilliant one, haven't seen many like these from him in recent times.
? He scored two or three belters like this with his left in the last month of la liga.

To be fair to him the club gave him that contract and enormous wages. He declined rapidly which may or may not have been down to his lifestyle. I would imagine the medical staff etc were monitoring that and he would of been pulled up on it if he was living that unhealthily. I think his decline was more down to the number of competitive matches he played and genetics. You can hardly blame him for still collecting his Wages on a legal contract. That would be the clubs fault and moyes for giving him such a long contract when he was obviously on the decline. I'm no Rooney fan boy, far from it, in fact I think we should never have given him that ridiculous contract extension but like I said thats down to the club. Saying all that I respect all he did for the club as our highest ever goal scorer.

Ronaldo left us in his prime saying he has achieved everything he can here. He then goes to madrid and achieves much more but evidently not finished achieving for them yet. He then flirts with us and uses us when he wants a new contract or feels real aren't treating him in the god like status he deserves. I have nothing against Ronaldo and have great memories of his time here and still enjoy watching him now. What I don't understand as my original post is the Rooney hate and Ronaldo love.

If Ronaldo leads Real to a third consecutive CL trophey, he'll be considered equal to Messi, maybe even greater. Messi should have won more while he played with Xavi and Iniesta in their peak.

I don't know why there is always the desire to conflate the two things? Totally different players, totally different situations.

What else should he have won?

I already think he is greater than Messi.
He has conquered arguably the top 2 leagues, winning everything with 2 different teams.
He bested Messi's Barcelona several times.
Reigning Ballondor and will probably win the next one, too.
He also won a National trophy (Messi has not done this).
