anyway...

Messi can beat a man in the air. SAF was talking about the height of the jump. Rafael beat Carroll in the air. Anyone can lose an aerial challenge. In this case however Evra never stood a chance at winning it.

He's really just bigging up one of the few areas where Ronaldo is better than Messi. All part of his plan to make him want to come back again. SAF knows what he's doing.

Erm, of course Messi couldn't do that, he's like 5 feet talk. God forbid Cal ever sees these words from Fergie.

As for another player who would have scored that, many have short memories. Having watched the Premier league, I am certain that if if one player had been totally unmarked and left to score a header like that, it would have been Tim Cahill, easily.

He looked like he was gonna cry after scoring that goal.

He's a legend at this club, as confirmed by our supporters who sing his name almost every game. Class act. Love him to bits.

I know he's currently the enemy, and in no way do I want him to have a good match at OT for obvious reasons, but for me it's impossible to not love the guy (no homo).
I know it's highly unlikely, but if someway somehow he were to come back to OT I'd be esthatic as feck.

He did the same when he scored against Sporting for us. People are looking too much into it.

He probably meant during the game thread where instead of being disappointed and questioning the marking people were wanking over the header

Not much wrong with that. It was a great header and very little Evra could do about it. Are we going to question Sir Alex Ferguson for 'wanking' over the header? Too many people here very bitter about Ronaldo leaving.

I respect the fact that he didn't celebrate and his comments after the game, but he's never going to be a legend in my eyes.

Nope the legends are the Busby Babes and the players who loved/loves MUFC and could not dream of leaving the greatest club on the Earth. Ronaldo is a cracking player though

Evra or any of the rest could have put a challenge on him. I just find it crazy that people were desperate to rave about it, you almost got the impression some were happy he had equalized.

As for Sir Alex, any other player and I bet he wouldn't have been so complimentary, it's his boy afterall.

Alex Ferguson said when he saw it again that Evra didn't have a chance. Maybe he wanted Ronaldo to score as well. If the boss can be complimentary about an ex player then why can't the fans. You're being silly if you think Utd fans were happy that we conceded.

Even if Evra jumped next to Ronaldo, I doubt he would of had it. Possibly put more pressure on Ronaldo, but I still think it would have been a goal. It was a very good pass, and an even better header.

Because some of the fans these days are spoilt and arrogant.

fans cant comment because they are spoilt and arrogant even if they hold the same views as fergie? lol.

Good post ac.

Evra had no chance, Ronaldo was up way to early for him, if Evra had jumped at the same time he'd have been back on the floor before the ball even reached Ronaldo's head.

George Best and Law left us too.

Btw, who was it that called him a poacher? Might have been fcbarca. Ridiculous claim really. He's a brilliant footballer. It was scary to see how bad he was making rafael look, a player who had probably been out most consistent defender this season. And he consistently picks up the ball in wide areas a lot as well.

Di Maria and Ozil actually outplayed him. Ridiculous finish but he wasn't that good at all. Was firmly in Phil Jones pocket in the second half.

What did I miss regarding Di Maria's performance? I thought he was average.

I wouldn't want to rubbish his performance knowing we have to face him again in 3 weeks. If he knocks us out at OT, what difference does it make if someone overshadowed him in the game at their place? At the end of the day, big players make the difference and he got their goal. It could be a big goal for them.

He was nullified in the second half because we played deep, eliminating space for him to operate. We also improved our stet piece defending.

Most teams have trouble breaking down teams that sit deep. Look at Barcelona this season against Celtic, and Barcelona/Munich vs Chelsea last season.

Someone sent me this topical link, a Real Madrid fan response to Ronaldo's goal:

There are a whole bunch of variants kicking around under http://statigr.am/tag/aircr7

So he played not that good? Hmmm, interesting. It's not what the Spanish press thought, they thought that Benzema and then Higuain were toothless and that Ronaldo had given them a chance of survival, by keeping the attack going and giving our defence some work to do. Mind you, they also think that Madrid would have won by a couple of goals if DdG hadn't done such a good job.

It is true though that Ozil survived 90 minutes which is a worrying sign and Di Maria continues to look like he may be getting his form back for games where his motivation is high enough. As long as they've got that quality they're dangerous as a team, but Ronaldo is still the most dangerous of the lot.

How about being closer to your family and your culture?

I have no issue with the reasons why Ronaldo left the club...he didn't want to play for us any more.

Simple as that.

He was brilliant in his last two seasons with us and was a cracking player helping us to a lot of success.

I was merely pointing out that comparing Best and Law to Ronaldo was a poor analogy.

George was disillusioned with the whole game and suffering with alcoholism...while Law wanted to stay but Docherty gave him a free transfer.

Not exactly the same as moving for more glory or money is it?

George Best wanted to leave because he wanted to be allowed to party all night and skip training, and be given special treatment compared to his lesser gifted team mates. He was told no, so he left.

I think it's fine for top footballers to move clubs for the good of their career and personal ambitions.

Defending Ronaldos reasons for leaving is fine but leave out the condescending tone when you're talking about George Best. They both had different reasons but Georges wasn't as simple or as sensationalist as you're trying to make it sound.

Both absolutely amazing players that we are all proud to be able to say played for Manchester United. Let's leave it at that

Has Ronaldo ever been asked straight up whether he would re-join United?!

If he did leave Madrid in his early 30's (which I believe is when his contract ends) I would like to think he'd come back for a year or two.

is not his contract up in 2014 or 2015?

not that far away. He has said never rule out anything.

honestly I don't know. he may follow Jose here though ;)

And neville said he picks out the weakest link. Blimey.

I love Ronaldo but I seriously doubt he will ever come back. :( That said, I don't know where else he could go. He doesn't seem like the type of player who'd go to Russia, Arabia or the United States.

And I doubt he'd dare to go to Barca.
