Its off Top, on, off, on, off...my muppet heart cant take any more.

Why does Nev and Round watching Portugal mean they were scouting Ronaldo? Simple journalists pandering to simple readers, so fecking tedious.

It is simple. Nev and Round were there to escort Ronaldo back to Manchester but disguised it as 'scouting'. They clearly didn't want a repeat of Paddy fiasco when Ronaldo was in Manchester couple of days ago for pre contract agreement. :wenger:

Maybe they were hoping to tempt Ronaldo back by showing him their legs in shorts. No longer must he see Mick Phelans legs on a daily basis, he'll get to look at the much younger legs of P.Nev and Round. I don't know, maybe that's what is swinging this, lads.

When do we see the picture of him being brought into his medical with a sheet covering him a la De Gea style?

Strootman has already moved clubs this summer.

Agh! I missed that one! Thanks.

There still must have been somebody else they were there to watch, there's no way that they were scouting Ronnie.

I suppose they could have just fancied watching a game and thought it may have been a more attractive prospect than England V Scotland.

Topic about ronaldo on the United Facebook page, it's on again!!

I can assure you the Facebook team would be the last ones informed of a transfer.

I can assure you the Facebook team know everything. Hell I think it could be operated by Woodward himself.

If I was CEO of United, I'd probably spend time messing about on our Facebook page when bored.

If Woodward is in charge of the Facebook account then I wouldn't mind betting the password is Fabregas.

I used to operate Microsofts Facebook page. You get told clear directives on what to post about and what not to mention with about a weekly frequency. I assume United would work similarly.

I used to operate moonpig.com's Facebook page. They used to instruct me to post about cards and shit. I never understood that. I mean, we were selling pigs that go to the moon FFS!

Its just good business. United would presumably have a marketing strategy applicable over various platforms.

Discussing him on a Facebook page is hardly conclusive evidence of Ronaldo's imminent arrival, but I think its a bit unusual to reference when he's playing for direct European rivals, however well he did at United. Plenty of time to fawn over his performances when he's retired.

I agree. Usually when these things were done there was a clear and direct idea of increasing revenue in mind - announce the Surface, announce price drops, announce new releases. The constant referencing of Ronaldo (he's been in about five posts from the Facebook team this summer) would suggest that there has been word sent out to mention him, for whatever reason. I just don't see the logic if there's not work being done to bring him back (and thus increase revenue from merchandise sales) - but then again, United aren't a business in the same way Microsoft are. It could just be a nostalgic interns Facebook update! :)

Perhaps. I'm perhaps a bit cynical but at a club the size of United, and with such commercial clout and probably a myriad of marketing experts trying to optimise the clubs brand and revenue I dont think anything is done by accident - especially increasing the profile of a player contracted to another club.

For example - if Rooney goes I very much expect there'll be no 10 year retrospective of his United career on the club website or wherever else.

The squad numbers are being confirmed today.

This is how we're unveiling his transfer, no press release, just list him as #7.

Yeah that's video on the Official Website is odd. And a little small time really. An "On this day 10 years ago" thing, cool. But a complete retrospective of his time here. Wait 'till he's not still in his prime at another prominent, rival club at least.

I suppose the name Ronaldo alone will generate enough web traffic to justify frequent enough references, thinking about it again.
