More likely because we know deep down he has the same mindset as you do. He is not even close to being our 'greatest' player as that's an insult to Colossus figures such as Don Alfredo Di Stefano, Raul Gonzalez or Sergio Ramos. Footballers who, aside from the enormous quality they offer on the pitch, also play for the shirt and honour it.

Our greatest player is not someone who used us as platform to achieve his individual goals and then spit in our faces, and we know what those are. He would have never been put on the same pedestal with the most dominant attacking player of all time if not for the exposure he got as a Madrid player.
All likes and Raul was a decent striker with a few good seasons. Whether Madrid liked it or not he is the greatest Madrid player. One can argue Di Stefano but one could easily Argue Ronaldo as well.

What is it with all the people coming out of the woodwork calling him finished or overrated for the 4th year in a row again? He wasn't even that bad.
This Forum in a nutshell.

Ronaldo without the greatest midfield in the world and Ramos and Marcelo looks mediocre

Imagine if Madrid (who just thumped Atletico 3-1) go further than Juventus in CL

Why's that crazy? They only faced Ajax (and beat them in the first leg by the skin of their teeth).

His goading of Atleti fans reminded of Mourinho’s three finger “Respek” press conference.

Insecure Portuguezers

Because they hate that the greatest player to wear the white jersey of Madrid is not Spanish. His record their will probably never be broken. That club is so fake very 2 faced.

Di Stefano played for Spain though.

Just browsed through the posts. Some terrible posts on here, even from supposed Real Madrid fans. Crikey.

Goes to show Ronaldo needs Madrid much more than the opposite. Madrid won 7 champions league with Raul, Mijatovic, they would have won with Kroos, Marcelo and Modric regardless.

Yeah juat look at how Madrid smashing the spanisg league and cruising through the CL without him... Oh wait

Up until yesterday everybody said Juve was favorites to win the CL, now they lost a tough away game and Ronaldo is a mediocare player past his prime and Juve are a average team... People have no opinion what so ever, everything is based on the last game with absolutley no hindsight.

Im not a Ronaldo fan and don't think hes in the top 3 in the world today, but hes putting on an amazing season for a 34 year old, and a great season for any player to be proud of. Obviously it will be a dissappointment from Juve if they are eliminated, but it's auxh a tough competition to win it really doesnt make Ronaldo any less good if he doesnt win it this year, just like it wouldnt make him the best player in the world if he does

To be fair, that's precisely the reasoning that many follow in their arguments in his favour - that team success means he's the best. So if he does win the CL this season he will be hailed by them as the best on that basis. So it's no surprise that should he go out there will be others that will hit back on that logic. It's the age of the Balon d'Or and individual team success after all.

He looked sharp and was quality whenever he had the ball. His all round game was on point and had very few moments of average football yet he didn't even look close to making a goal contribution.

Beginning of the end as Top Elite player?

On the basis of that game? He was nowhere near that bad(or even bad) to make claims like this. He had good moments.

Though his 40 goal per season streak might be in jeopardy this year.

Ha, they were doing just as bad in the liga with Ronaldo. The Champions League is yet to be seen where they finish.

What an ego

He is really a sore and bad loser, can't blame anyone for disliking such a self-entitled and arrogant cnut. Its not like Real Madrid played well and lost. Besides the 2 goals, Atletico Madrid was denied a clear penalty and a proper goal disallowed. Should have won 4-0. Ronaldo is so bitter and small-time here. He knows his time at Juve is a failure.

They deserved to win but the clip was very clearly outside the box so no penalty. Don’t know how you could’ve seen those replays and still think it’s a penalty. Also, the shove on Chiellini for Morata’s goal is debatable. The referee didn’t seem to think for too long before ruling it out after checking VAR himself.

fecking hell, obsession is pathetic.

Can we honestly feck new members off from commenting in the mains like the old days.

Some of the Full members are no better either, to be honest. I really can't fathom how they got the Full member status in the first place. All these lot do is post unintelligent one liners like "jajaja, Ronaldo/ Messi is shit" or "This".

Yes, average. They had an easy run to the final two years ago and then struggled to make it past Spurs in the next. They have a lot of aging players and their Pogba replacement, Pjanic, was bang average tonight.
A lot of teams will struggle to brush Spurs aside in this competition, in fairness. I'm not even one of Juve's biggest admirers (as you've said - their mdifield compared to the Pogba - Vidal - Pirlo, with Marchisio there as well, have regressed) but fact is, they have been constantly challenging for the UCL over the last 4-5 years. No matter how easy we deem their fixtures to have been, or not to have been.

And on top of it, they just added what many in this thread consider TBPITW.

they're a good team but they're just not amongst Europe's elite.
If Juventus aren't part of Europes elite, who is? I guess it'd only be Barca & Madrid, judging by your standards because I think only those 2, and at a shout maybe Bayern and Atletico have performed similarly or better than Juve in Europe over the past 5 years?

Spend, or squad worth or whatever metrics you want to use are all a bit irrelevant. Achievement and results are what matters, surely?

What's the story between him and Real? I haven't kept track really, splitting up wasn't exactly nice?

I'm curious, was Ronaldo's the only departure from that CL 3 times in a row team?

Yep. This time they won't turn this one around.

Judging by the state of this thread he's destined to either score three in the second leg or win the CL next season

He wasn't particularly good today but not that bad either. Still think he upped his game at Juve again even if his numbers went down (feels wrong to say 'down' as he's still I believe the second or third best scorer in Europe). He hasn't been the player to carry a team's attack on his back for quite a while so I don't get why people suddenly expect him to do that. In front of the goal he's still lethal and in all honesty, he's contributing more than he did for Real in the past 3 years.

I'm thoroughly in the Messi camp but if you defend him because he can't do it alone you also have to defend Cristiano now. Anything else are double standards..

Yes this thread is a timebomb really.

Honestly I wasn't surprised with what happened really. Maybe expected a bit more from Juve as a team, and honestly worse than Ronaldo or Dybala or whatever I think its not the first time Allegri makes some questionable choices for this type of game.

Probably will cost him the job at the end of the season. Even if that midfield is not good enough to win this competition imo.

If he goes back to the Bernabeu with Juve, what kind of welcome would he receive?

Not surprised they lost to Atletico, I asked few Juve fans on this forum about their chances in CL this year with Ronaldo and they were pessimistic due to Allegris’ tactics and lack of quality in midfield.

Ronaldo is going to take the criticism if they crumble in CL, it’s inevitable once you move to a one-horse league and only big matches are few knockouts in the CL. If you can’t get them over the line, criticism will come even though it maybe not entirely down to him.

Completely agree but this thread has been a shit-slinging contest between two camps who wait for either to put in a poor performance or get knocked out so they can continue with the agenda. If Barca crash out to Lyon, the same criticism would be thrown at Messi instead. Never ending circle of this thread.

Yup. Not easy to demand respect when some of his more extreme supporters do the same. And I suspect Messi will score a few vs Lyon.

For everyone asking what's the story behind Ronaldo leaving Real, no fan on the internet knows it, but we do know two things:

1. When tax evasion issue happened he was pissed at the club for not supporting him the way Barca supported Messi (which was the same as when Liverpool supported Suarez). The club told him that if he's guilty they can't support him for not paying his taxes. What kind if message would that send?

2. He wanted the club to compensate him for the fine he had to pay and the club told him that he needs to handle that with his management because the club has nothong to do with how he sets up his business (that's when Mendes came out in public and started attacking the club).

The rest is history. We won CL and his first reaction after the game was to steal all of the attention from the club and the team by saying he's not happy and he might leave. That obviously didn't go well with the fans and the club management.

My personal opinion is that he pushed too hard to get tax fine compensated by the club and at one point Perez had enough and told him to find a club willing to pay 100 mil €, pack up his shit and leave.

Got to laugh at people coming here to gloat because Ronaldo's team didn't win, in a game where he was their best player... this Messi vs Ronaldo rivalry really is pathetic for some people. I haven't watched him much this season but I thought he looked very quick, amazing at 34 years old.

Absolutely. Pathetic doesn't do it justice. It all takes away from a typically solid performance from Atleti as well.
