We must be careful not to project our assumptions into reality here. By all account Greenwood took to Cavani really listened to his ideas. This was corroborated by Ole and Mach going fans who watch Cavani give him pointers all game long.
Ronaldo's problem with Greenwood was mostly because he didn't have the deference to him that a section of our team did. I think same could be said of Rashford and Martial too who don't seem to he enamored by him. Contrast that to how Bruno, Dalot and Anthony relate with him and you can see why Ronaldo will have problems with Greenwood especially as the Englishman had a tendency to also be selfish thereby starving Ronaldo of chances in game.

I actually don't think the timing is that bad for Utd. If he'd done this a few months ago, it would have been far worse having this cloud over us every week. By the time Utd actually play again, the worst on this will have blown over.

This just means the entire build up to their World Cup will be about this, maybe he wants that, but I can't see how it's really a good thing for them. On top of that there was already unrest from Portuguese fans during the last international break about his level of performance not being good enough anymore. That will only get worse if he doesn't perform at the World Cup, and based off his performances this season, there's no reason to expect him to perform well.
