Nah it’s just old man shouting about the previous generation, which has gone on in all aspects of life for hundreds of years. Saw a tweet a while ago that had 100 years of examples 15 years apart of people calling the generation younger than them lazy.
The exact same things were said about players when Ronaldo was a teenager. Haaland and Mbappé are also set for life but they keep pushing. Greats will be greats regardless.

I think all players who have competed at a reasonably high level empathize with Ronaldo. He’s coming to the end of his career and he’s fighting to stay on the field. Definitely some “grumpy old man” vibes. He feels compelled to burn down the house as he’s closing the door. But, under no circumstances should he be applauded for the way he has disrespected Ten Hag.
On the other hand, I am quite convinced that we are well behind Real Madrid, PSG, City, Bayern, Juventus, Chelsea, Liverpool and hell, probably Dortmund in sport science, qualities of the facility, diet and cafeteria, training, off field support, pre-game tactical analysis,etc..
This hurts us in recruitment, and it hurts us on the pitch. Ed and the Glazers ran United like an asset. You figure out the bare minimum you need to invest to stay semi competitive while maximizing revenue and milking the profits.

It's the infrastructures around young people. Monetisation, globalization, music and social media paint the picture of instant gratification. There's a generation of young people who are growing up without any correlation to the word process.

That's a bit of a stretch isn't it? Youngsters are interested in David Beckham's followers so it means they want to be famous more than play football? How exactly does taking an interest in a successful man's material assets prove they want to be famous more than play football, exactly? Are they not allowed to have those interest's?
I guess the only slight problem with that is Michael Jordan was speaking about the younger generation when Ronaldo was the younger generation. Every generation thinks the next generation didn’t have to work as hard as they did.

I’m not too old but old enough to remember the fuss about Winston Bogarde being paid £50k a week to sit on the bench at Chelsea to sit on the bench in the years before Ronaldo even turned pro. It was all ‘modern game is ruined’, ‘where’s the motivation’ back then too.
Relative to other clubs of course. I don’t expect United to have Reed Richards on their payroll.
How I wish Ronaldo would go to Roma. That would be box office on it's own with Jose and a geriatric Ronaldo.

Ole signed his own “sack warrant” then, assuming that’s all true. There were reports that Ole was prioritising a CM, which is, of course, what we needed. If that went out the window to get Ronaldo then he must be as clueless as people say.

This is just my opinion.
Phelan was assistant to Solskjaer and someone who was said to be advising Solskjaer in his role. Both Solskjaer and Phelan were spotted several times at various different stadiums scouting players.
And if we listen to Phelan, it becomes pretty clear he didn't pay much attention to the technological or data side of the club, and he put that down to clubs having too much money in the present day. He would also go on to say that, he didn't focus on improving player weaknesses but rather only focused on player strengths. And he was advising Solskjaer as his assistant and it's no surprise that we ended up signing Phelan's former player Harry Maguire, who Phelan himself gave a full debut to at Hull before making him his captain at the same club. And a year before we signed Maguire, it was reported by Daniel Taylor in his Guardian column about how the United head scouts had vetoed the Maguire signing because they felt he wasn't a improvement on the players they already had at the club.
So to answer your question, I'd say yes, Phelan probably did influence Solskjaer when it came to signing Ronaldo, because Phelan was more than happy to turn a blind eye to Ronaldo's weakness ( off the ball) and instead only focused on his strength if we're to go off what he said in the above paragraph.
Phelan like many of the pundits we see in the game today either on TV or Radio, is wedded to a approach from a bygone era. And they believe that because they were successful in that bygone era, football is still the same without accepting that changes have occurred.
There's a big difference between being a successful footballer and someone who is a successful teacher in a coaching capacity in the present day. And in the present day, we see failed teachers line up the Sky and BT studios, whilst the successful teachers go about implementing a strategy in a coaching capacity at the highest level in the present day.

Ronaldo seems confused about why people would dare to criticise him but how can pundits and fans look at his performances and poor conduct this season and not criticise it?
Piers keeps going on about the goals he scored last season so Ten Hag shouldn't bench him but Ten Hag is rightfully picking the team based on form, even Casemiro didn't walk straight into the team because Mctominay was playing well, he didn't start crying about disrespect he earned the starting spot by working hard and performing better

I read the transcript for Part 1. So far, not really that bad. I want to see why he thinks EtH has not respected him. All I can see on the field is Ronaldo being a liability when the team plays football. If he is disrespected because EtH does not play to Ronaldo's strengths, he should ask himself if Sir Alex would bend over backwards to place 1 player above the entire team.
Ronaldo talking about money and entitlement when he basically wants to take his United contract to his next club. He can't even sacrifice money for the CL football he's crying about. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just to force a settlement.

I agree. He actually seems to care about the club and its future. It doesn't mean that I agree with him giving this interview, but it is not as bad as people made of it in recent days.

I must have missed the part where he has burying pretty much everyone at the club… sure he has talk shite about the manager (unforgivable) and some unnamed young players lacking motivation to work hard (which is true to be fair), but so far that’s about it. Maybe there will be more to come in part 2?
