That’s lot of assumptions there. The fact you're getting all bent out of shape over it while pulling up the race card, shows you know that poster is right to judge where you're allegiances lie with
Interesting theory about Beckham, given he was pre-social media really mushrooming. Maybe Giggs would've been the forerunner if he'd changed clubs. I remember seeing multi-storey sized adverts with him in Kuala Lumpur years ago. Beckham took it to another level with the pop star wife.Theres going to be a lot of differenting opinions, but in my personal view the veil between player fans and club fans started to shift when David Beckham went to Real Madrid. The worlds most popular player (at the time) being sold in one of the most prolific transfers at the time. Then it mostly trickled for a few years until Facebook/Twitter and Instagram became a "fact of life" application rather than an optional tool some people use now and then. I think Maradona in this example had mostly an entire nation of absolutely devoted fans, but definitely a lot fewer in Europe, where club is and was king.
I think players now having a great deal more power over their careers than used to be the case 2 decades ago might also be a contributing factor.
A charismatic rockstar like Maradona in the modern game would probably be insanely beloved and insanely cancelled and banned from the game. For all his genious he would have made young Mario Balotelli look like Juan Mata with a +10 hugs stat.
A fun sidefact: Maradona actually has a fan made church that exists to this date - The Iglesia Maradoniana
- The ball is never soiled.
- Love football above all else.
- Declare unconditional love for Diego and the beauty of football.
- Defend the Argentine shirt.
- Spread the news of Diego's miracles throughout the universe.
- Honour the temples where he played and his sacred shirts.
- Don't proclaim Diego as a member of any single team.
- Preach and spread the principles of the Church of Maradona.
- Make "Diego" your middle name
- Name your first son "Diego"
150-200.000 registered members actually.Interesting theory about Beckham, given he was pre-social media really mushrooming. Maybe Giggs would've been the forerunner if he'd changed clubs. Not sure if the church of Maradona got many members beyond the founding three!
Oh jesus really? It's a username on a forum ffs. If someone turned around to me and said Sepultura are shit I'm not going to get all bent out of shape, and definitely wouldn't bring race in to my fecking argument. Get a grip ffs.

Hardcore fanboys judging by the exchange I've been having with a certain poster further up the page....36 people voted for the last option??
Are they hard core fanboys, or just taking a p**s?
My daughter will never forgive me. Sorry EricNever, ever worship celebrities to the point you name your children after them.
That’s lot of assumptions there.
But really, I don’t really care, just arguing for argument sake. In fact, I’ve already made my point from my very first post, don’t want to drag on this forever.
Ah, so sad, he can spend the night with their wives, they will be fine with him, will blame their wives.Hardcore fanboys judging by the exchange I've been having with a certain poster further up the page....
You gave your daughter name Eric??My daughter will never forgive me. Sorry Eric
You don’t have to resort to name calling right away. It’s sign of lacking self confidence. In fact I haven’t said anything controversial.
WowYou don’t see anything wrong judging people by their names? What next? Nothing wrong judging people by their color as well?
Why is it lacking in self confidence to observe that your user name contains the name of two famous footballers? You don’t have to resort to name calling right away. It’s sign of lacking self confidence. In fact I haven’t said anything controversial.
That’s exactly why I said it’s full of assumptions. No assumptions you literally compared a poster bringing up your username to judge where you're loyalties lie to judging a person's skin color.
You calling this clown a united legend and comparing his disgusting antics to George Best who was a troubled alcoholic and never publicly called out the club and manager.
My daughter will never forgive me. Sorry Eric
That’s just it though; in the SAF era it sort of was. It just happened to be that “mom & pop” was the incomparable SAF.
Are you so naive on how companies work? Its not a mom & pop convenient store which is how you are suggesting it should operate.
There are structures and hierarchies which is inevitable for a company that's worth several billion dollars and has an annual turnover in the 500m range.

From Piers's clips.

I wouldn’t let him near the youth. He’d try to spin it into some PR opportunity, posting team shots with the youth after rondos. If there are no takers and mutual termination of the contract without paying up the rest of the wages isn't an option then maybe that's what might happen. If it's a mutual end with no payment that's the best case.
The worst case scenario for me is if the club gives in and pays the rest of his deal just to get rid of him. I think that's weak and it harms the club's image. Let him rot in the reserves and let him train with the youth team. I think it happened to Becks at Madrid, Schweinstiger at United so there are precedents with big name players. It'd be a hell of a statement to make.

Surely Ronaldo has his next club confirmed? No way someone would release an interview like that without a plan. I wouldn’t be surprised if he returns to his spiritual home: Sporting
Wright is consistently one of the most reasonable and level-headed pundits on the telly
He didn't in the summer when he was making an ass of himself, so wouldn't be surprised if he didn't now either.Surely Ronaldo has his next club confirmed? No way someone would release an interview like that without a plan. I wouldn’t be surprised if he returns to his spiritual home: Sporting
I'm surprised only 52% think he's a massive bellend, that was clearly evident 13 years ago.36 people voted for the last option??

That poster described Ronaldo
as a "religion" to him. It's more extreme than being a hardcore fanboy; quite frankly, that's a little creepy.
Whereas Ronaldo to me, he is more of “religion” or even a “cult” thing to me, rather than just a hobby, hence I am comfortable to admit myself as a Ronaldo fanboy,
That poll
Also, why are votes not public? I need to know who the looneys or trolls are who picked the last one

My original post you are referring to has nothing to do with Ronaldo though, it’s about Maradona. So I am not sure what should I reply here. Maybe you have mistaken me as someone else. You have, and no one called you any names.
Ronaldo goes on TV (not an after match interview) but on TV and says he does not respect the manager and disrespects the whole club. I think this is worse than anything someone else may have done. Also the guys been contraversial all along especially at Madrid too.

Well as explained already I am just arguing for argument sake here. Not sure anyone will get upset about that. But I guess it’s hard to tell from internet.ha ha, I get upset too when people judge that I must enjoy a bit of Harry Potter. Wtf
Well I suspect he is a fanboy of me. He likes to follow all my jokes in few years back. Only recently I have found out he even kept a collection of my old jokes and spread it around like gospel.
