Cristiano Ronaldo - Much Ado About Al Nassr

As you pointed out at this stage nobody will ever change the others mind. The debate is pointless and the constant need to try to bash a player anytime anything positive is said is just sad to see and when I first joined the CAF it was never this bad.

Appreciate both players. I don’t go on Messi Miami thread and say he is having traffic cones because who cares ?!?

Ronaldo and Messi have nothing left to prove in this sport. They own every relevant record by quite a margin. Just enjoy them both because the chances of seeing anything like them two again is slim to none.

Tbf Ronaldo less than 12 months ago did the most unprofessional thing a top level footballer has ever done to his club whilst being employed by Man Utd. This is a Man Utd forum.

Acting surprised that some people aren't qeuing up alongside you to pat him on the back for his exploits in a farmers league is a bit disingenuous no?

Also please stop pretending that you aren't really saying "He's better than Messi" and knowing you'll get a response when you call him "The Goat" needlessly. I don't really care, I think Messi is better but find the endless debates weird but you know people still do care. And before you say it "They do it too in the inter Miami thread" is not a good argument.

It’s incredible how whenever this stupid topic is brought up and normally not by me, I get the “blame” for doing something that every body else is doing.

It goes Beyond irony and hypocrisy at this point.
Because you are the constant. Every single time. Right there in the middle of it. Over and over again. That you are not self aware of that is particularly hilarious.

Nonetheless, I've made my point and I know you will reply until the end of time so I will leave it there and wish you all the best.

There’s nothing controversial about your intent though. You post that crap on the previous page, get 2 responses and immediately throw in Messi’s name in two consecutive posts.

I mean, it’s obvious what you are doing so I find it pretty hypocritical to complain afterwards about the flood that ensued.
Ya man your right, I’m the one doing something.

You lot are something special I swear.

So your saying when someone makes a comment(s) to you on the CAF, I should not say anything, nor should I give my own opinion, nor should a debate and Discussion be had?

Instead I am too agree with everyone else and not comment or have a difference of opinion?

Is this the new state of the CAF in 2023? Good lord.

You got it man, no more thinking for yourself that’s a no no.

How good are his team team in comparison to the rest of the league now?

There ya go:
The GOAT scores again for Al Nassr in the semi final to lead them to their first ever Arab Champions Cup final.

4 goals in 5 games to start the season.

Despite how poor and underwhelming Al Nassr have been so far Ronaldo has been the difference maker. Also the top scorer of this competition now.

They will most likely face Al Hilal in the final and based on recent performances I think Al Hilal will win.
No disrespect but I always get a chuckle at this and the desperation of it.

Maybe for you.

He has been called the GOAT by many people for a majority of his career. As has Messi.

Pick your GOAT and move on. Same happened with Pele and Maradona. The four of them are the only players in history with enough to their game and accolades to be called it.

Based on many factors for me the GOAT is undoubtedly Ronaldo.

Shouldn't bother you one bit.

If I go to the Messi forum after a Miami game you have multiple people syaong "Goat" or online or wherever.

Why is it such a problem for Ronaldo?

Some of you lot are obsessed with hating on the guy for being the GOAT when he has every justification for it.

Go call Messi the goat in his forum, or sing his praises, that's totally fine and I respect it because he as well has the justification to receive that praise. Just read the thread or don't and move on. It's never that serious people.

The whole debate, after you posted that video.

Other posters were mainly commenting on the league and Ronaldo before you came with that tripe and hijacked the discussion.

Anyways the final is now official for this Saturday.

Al Nassr will play their first ever Arab champions cup final vs Al Hilal (they won 3-1) today.

Al Hilal already eliminated the Saudi champion Al Ittihad today So it will be interesting to see how al Nassr fair against one of their major rivals for the league title.

How good are his team team in comparison to the rest of the league now?
Al Hilal, Al Ittihad (you can swap them with Al Hilal) Al Nassr and Al Ahli , in this order have the best teams in the league right now. Al Nassr desperately need a defender.

Al ahli just signed Kessie and zielisnki for the midfield to go with their star studded attack.

Going to be a really fun 4 horse race for the title.

No need to mention Messi the GOAT in this thread, he has got his own thread for that.
This thread is for laughing at the plastic headed bellend playing in the Saudi league who less than a year ago told Piers Morgan that he wouldn`t play in the Saudi league because he had had offers from European teams, yeah right.

What an absolutely incredible straw man argument that you just made so easy for me to laugh at.

Just take a ever single quick second to READ what was said.

In Every single post I said that why is it a problem for ME to say something but others can say the same about THEIR favorite player on HIS forum thread.

All it takes is a little reading and comprehension as opposed to accusing or fishing for something that is not their when in reality this started because people got offended and their panties in a bunch over a comment made about a player on HIS thread.

Jesus Christ the extend you people go through to try to justify this garbage.

Ronaldo has a lot of accolades but he doesn’t have enough to his game to be called the greatest to ever do it.
Tbh when you open up a post with Cristiano the GOAT - it’s perfectly normal to expect a backslash.
Exactly. It invites the blowback he’s complaining about.

Highlights of the whole game for anyone interested. Al Nassr are going to have to play much better to beat Al Hilal.

They barley beat a club that have 0.001% of their budget with a dodgy penalty and he celebrates like he scored in a CL final.

Man just posted that his favorite player scored a goal, and you bunches came and bashed the player and the poster, and you have a gut to mention "his toxic fan base" in your sentence . You maybe are a very smart, successful, and respected football person who knows the true GOAT and football more, But if you think Ronaldo and his fans deserve all of your online hate/animosity because he disrespected the manager you trusted, man I have gotta tell you that it's toxic.

Not really. He never used to refer to him as the “GOAT” in the manner he’s doing now. As someone else noted, it’s basically his backhanded way of saying he’s better than the other player whom HE brought up (yes that’s right, it was him who brought Messi’s name into it) but without actually saying it. That’s why it makes me chuckle, because even though he’s pretending to be ignorant we all know what he’s doing when he does this “the GOAT scores again” routine.

I merely said it makes me chuckle, then when he challenged me and a couple of others I elaborated on why it makes me chuckle. That’s all. And again, it makes sense that there’s some general animosity toward the player anyway because it’s a United forum and he treated the club and fans terribly before he departed. Anyway I apologise to everyone for even remarking on it, I’ve been reading the forum long enough so I should have known better

That's really irrelevant and not the point of the thread. The thread is about Cristiano's journey in Middle East. That's how I read it and the discussion around it. The GOAT stuff you can take in another tread specifically used for comparison (think we already have one).

Anyways I'm out of it as I don't have much desire about feeding you with all the spam that takes place in the last couple of pages or so.

Sic transit gloria mundi, one day, sooner than we expect, there will be players shining brighter than even Leo or Cristiano.

Professional players, coaches (like everyone favorite on this forum....Sir Alex), pundits and many more.

But sure its only his "fans". Pure ignorance.

I swear this thread gets more replies out of Messi fans and Ronaldo haters then the Ronaldo fans.

Try to find my last post on a Messi thread, You lot are obsessed.
Name these professional players and pundits. Alex Ferguson doesn't count, how is he objective FFS?!?!

It is a stupid opinion in your opinion. I think it is a "stupid" (or better: ignorant) opinion to call him the greatest ever because it belittles other great players in the same way you think seiing him outside the top 10 belittles him. And the same way it irks in your finger tips to correct somebody if he voices this opinion, it irks in mine (and seemingly a lot of others) to correct you when you call him "GOAT". But it's all up to you, you can tell yourself that those are all just Messi fans and you're the only sane person in here or you can reconsider ;)

To conclude, for me he battles Cruyff, Beckenbauer and Di Stefano for top 5 and I don't find that outrageous as it us one hell of an achievement, especially as this means he's above players such as Best, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Platini, Zico, Puskas, etc. who were incredible in their own right.
I have huge respect on players you’ve mentioned. But objectively speaking, he had the same amount of Ballon D’ors wins+runners up (12 times) as the other 3 added together (Cruyff 4 times, Beckenbauer 5 times, Di Stefano 3 times). Based on that alone, even though you may not think he should be regarded the same as Pele, Messi and Maradona, he should still be a tier above those others instead of competing against them.

And at any other competitive sports, based on what he has achieved individually and collectively, there’s no way he wouldn’t be regarded as GOAT (alongside with the other 3). He is just like a Lebron in basketball or a Nadal in Tennis. Of course people could still prefer Jordan/Kobe or Djokovic/Federer and rightly so, but they all are about the same level of greatness in objective sense.

He is arguably the greatest ever player in CL, and also arguably the greatest ever goalscorer the world had ever seen. I am sure he had at least 2 huge grounds to be called the greatest to ever do it.

Pele, Messi, Gerd Muller etc. all have stronger cases to be called the greatest goal scorer ever. Their WC record alone kills your case for Ronaldo..

If you think about it Maradona, Pele, Messi all have commonalities: elite playmaking, goal scoring, dribbling, passing. Ronaldo is elite only in goal scoring therefore is no match. That's also why while no one questions the inclusion of Pele, Maradona and Messi as top 3 players, many strongly and negatively respond to the desperate attempts by Ronaldo fans to include him along these 3 because it looks funny and pathetic. Ronaldo simply lacks the qualities that these 3 have.

Let me tell you this, the great majority of the football world does not consider him a GOAT, it should be quite obvious after the WC but I still see desperate attempts to place him next to Pele, Maradona and Messi here. But, this is an improvement as we had Portuguese posters here in the past that would place him above Pele and Maradona..

but they all are about the same level of greatness in objective sense.

sorry to tell you, most football fans (even many Portuguese) will call this BS. and no, you are not objective my friend, easy to see from your nickname..

He has something like 30 more goals than Messi in maybe 150 odd more games so not so sure about that.

I find the people who debate Ronaldo funny. It's just not close for me. The only thing is goalscoring and Messi for me is better at that too if you look at goals to game ratio.

Messi literally pisses all over him in everything else.

I find it astonishing that some people consider Cristiano Ronaldo a better player than guys like Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Di Stéfano, Platini and Zico. Each to their own, I guess.

Some of them still does that  What got this entire thing started was one of his try hards calling him THE GOAT aka greater than Maradona, Pele and Messi. That desperation and delusion

Regarding best goalscorer I did mention “arguably” the greatest goalscorer ever, and I don’t agree Pele, Muller, Messi has a stronger case there, they are all about the same level, with Ronaldo slightly edge it for me. We can go on lengthy discussions on there but are you going to do it here?

Let me tell you this, you don’t represent great majority of the football world.

And sorry to tell you this, you are not objective if you think you can speak for most football fans there.

Well I never say Ronaldo is necessarily better goalscorer than Messi, it’s all matter of “arguably” and you are entitled to your own opinion.

It's not me, bro. Even in a forum like this, are you aware it is you and the other guy, two Portuguese defending Ronaldo to death while most others from all types of nationalities are making fun of it, do you think this is a coincidence? You surely must be aware this was more or less the case even before the WC. The funny thing is these desperate attempts make Ronaldo look even more pathetic in the eyes of neutral fans, like a kid begging to be accepted into a group where he does not really belong..

There's no objective GOAT case for Ronaldo and at the moment he is more like a meme source for most football fans.. even his closest fans like Rio would not call him that now.

You seriously think the world don't rate Ronaldo right at the top of the pile?
I know youte trying to spank the Ronaldo obsessives but you sound like one of the anti Ronaldo gang who are just as bad.

I find it astonishing that some people consider Cristiano Ronaldo a better player than guys like Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Di Stéfano, Platini and Zico. Each to their own, I guess.

I'd imagine most football fans, pundits experts etc would rate him higher than most of those to be honest hence all time lists always having Ronaldo right near the top.

If you think about it Maradona, Pele, Messi all have commonalities: elite playmaking, goal scoring, dribbling, passing. Ronaldo is elite only in goal scoring therefore is no match.
This is what it all comes down to, for me. I wouldn't care if Ronaldo had won a WC and Messi hadn't, it's just quite obvious to to who's better from watching them both play

The last paragraph apart, I think this is a reasonable take. However, I don't think it is a matter of the sport, to me it is just clear from watching those four that one falls short a bit. Placing him there would be as placing another basketball player alongside James and Jordan because he's got more rings than them.

Sport just isn't as simple as 'most achievements = greatest', especially not in a team sport in which even individual awards are decided on titles won by teams.

Not sure why @SportingCP96 is getting hate for referring to CR7 as the GOAT. There are currently 4 viable options of which Ronaldo is 1 of them...
No. There are three. No player who has never scored a goal or registered an assist in the knockout rounds of the World Cup after playing in 5 tournaments can possibly be the greatest player of all time.

Just out of interest, why does this debate always feel so much more impassioned than others?

If I was to say I thought Ferdinand was better than John Terry to someone who disagreed for example there would probably be a pretty calm discussion about it.

With Ronaldo and Messi it always feels really heightened and people make extremely bold claims and it often becomes a bit snippy.

Is it because they were both so good that people care about them more than others do about their favourite players?

Genuienly curious.

They barley beat a club that have 0.001% of their budget with a dodgy penalty and he celebrates like he scored in a CL final.

Yep, I find it hilarious that all this started because of a penalty goal in that tournament. Very few in the region actually care about it. It has rarely been taken seriously and has always been considered a 2nd rate friendly cup without much interest from the fans. It's a bit surreal seeing anyone making a big deal out of the goals Ronaldo is scoring there right now.

This "debate" on who's better arose at the same time as tribalism on the internet as a whole, and some people seemingly can't let what they associated with their teenage personality ten years ago slip away.

It’s weird how people can say this when people say Ronaldo is overrated but when I say Messi would be different at a different league then people come up to me to take me on & show that my opinion is wrong & not just an opinion.

6 goals in Ligue 1 in a season
I hope you know messi is much more than a goal scorer. It's like asking how many goals bernado silva or KDB scored in a season. We have become so used to his brilliance that despite assisting so much and being the creative force in all his teams, he still scores so much. This is the very reason a lot of people call messi the GOAT. How many players can feature in even 3 of these categories?- top 3 goal scorers, top 3 assisters, top 3 dribblers, top 3 playmakers in the history of football.
