Cristiano Ronaldo - Much Ado About Al Nassr

Xavi at 35 moved to Al Sadd
Iniesta at 34 played for Vissel Kobe.

Messi will probably play in Miami soon.

I'm not sure they moved there following their football passion.

Agree, but I could think of so many worse things than seeing out your career in the wonderland that is Japan.

I think USA was always off the table for him for the sexual harassment allegations or something?

He respects likes of Jordan Peterson, goes his narcissistic ways and lives in a bubble of people only telling him about his greatness - a golden cage in Saudi Arabia and being surrounded by worshippers sounds like something tailor made for him.

I would have thought that the LA, NY or Miami would have been perfect for him. Surely the allegations wouldn't exclude him from being able to move to the US?

He wasn't formally charged, was he?

Yeh. My friends that went to Japan only had good things to say about that country. Definitely it's on my bucket list.

So many said "you guys would take that kind of money". Well if I was Ronaldo and not me, I wouldnt. The money that I have, without counting in those from sponsorships are enough to fund multiple generations, at worst it is enough for current family living a luxurious life. What I would do is to stay until my contract is finished at United, plays whenever asked and helps the younger players. And go back to Sporting without asking ridiculous wages. Just think of it as a thanks for both clubs. Then I will forever be known as a decent human being and everybody wants to do business with me, which in itself can generate money in the future, long after I retire as a football player.

The important thing you're forgetting, is that if you were Ronaldo, you'd also be a cnut

You would have to change your personality to become a grade A cnut though for you to emulate him. He took the money because he wanted to be known as the highest paid footballer ever. Until messi inevitably go to middle east in the next few years and got offered double ronaldo's money

Will the fact that Ronaldo and Georgina aren’t married not be an issue if they are to move to Saudi? Can’t imagine the KSA giving an exception even to him.

Are all the fan boys now watching Saudi football? Is that how it works? I don't get it. Who in their right mind will watch this sht just because a 38 year old washed up Ronaldo is there. Teenage girls? Who are these people? Who are the Saudis looking to attract or what are they trying to gain by getting Ronaldo. Doesnt anyone here give a sht? Why?

Considering the money involved those transfer announcement photos are so low key and cheap. Lazy iPhone snaps.

It adds to the whole weird and hazy feel of the story overall.

I feel disorientated having seen his downfall happen so quickly, god knows how he feels.

Not once in my life did I meet a teenage girl who cared about Ronaldo.

If you’re mega wealthy and have influence you can do what you like in those countries. That’s the double standards of these highly oppressed Muslim countries. I’m sure the King of Saudi Arabia is drinking alcohol and sleeping with any woman he wants. Even at the Qatar World Cup they were allowing the expensive boxes to drink Champagne etc.

One thing a lot of people still don't understand is how quickly rich people burn through cash.

  As Jose said, I'd be a cnut but an intelligent cnut.
This guy has :
1. Ruined relationship with United (incl Sir Alex indirectly)
2. Ruined relationship with his fans (incl United fans)
3. Ruined relationship with Jorge Mendes
4. Consulted with Jordan Peterson and Piers Morgan became his mate
5. 1 to 4 contributed to no big clubs wanting him because he's too much of a risk

All in the space of several months. Now that's a daft cnut.

Not once in my life did I meet a teenage girl who cared about Ronaldo.
I've met a grown woman, one of the smartest persons i know, physical chemistry doctorate and all, who only half jokingly said she'd leave her husband without a second thought for him

He's not going to live an average by getting paid half of his salary that he earned at United.
You forget he himself is a brand. Salary is not the only thing he relies on.
And surely he has multiple investments and/or businesses to keep those money growing.

6. Messi won the World Cup..

Pele "sold out" to New York Cosmos at 35 y.o.
Beckenbauer to New York Cosmos at 32.
Cruyff to LA Aztec at 31.

Just saying.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with chasing a last big contract when you can no longer hack it in the big leagues. It’s just funny seeing Ronaldo do this after so recently insisting that a manager who didn’t think he could hack it in the big leagues was disrespecting him.

My point is 500m will make a lot of difference to Ronaldo. Remember it's virtually tax free. He is not rich enough to not consider it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with him taking a huge pay day on his last contract, at 38 he's earned it.

The problem is he belittled United and the manager to justify the move, that interview with Piers Morgan was an absolute cringe fest in retrospect.

Of all the depths to sink to, this right here is as low as it gets.

He has been a proper disruptive bellend from not showing up for preseason, sulking when not playing/being substituted, refusing to go on as a sub, disappearing for the last few matches then the Morgan interview where he disrespects the club, Ten Hag, his ex team mates and makes out that he has higher feckin standards and wants champions league cos he is a winner and all that shit. He did all he could to disrupt Ten Hags start at the club but thankfully our new manager is a top man and has dealt with all the bullshit and if anything it has made him stronger and everyone is behind him . It could easily have swung the other way though as there were plenty in the media backing the bellend. I hope his plastic face melts in the Saudi sun.

It's go big or go home for him. At United, it's neither here nor there.

Tbf, the "go home" part is still the "go big" dream for most of footballers/athletes. That's definitely not what he wanted, but it's still damn good option.

I'm wondering if in his mind he's planning to rediscover his old scoring levels before doing a Zlatan and coming back to Europe. Does the Saudi off-season make short loan moves to Europe possible for him?

I don't think CR7 has the same self-awareness as Zlatan. The latter is accepting a squad role in Milan. Last year, he started barely every other game before his injury, and even less after coming back from it. However, he kept his head calm and helped them the best he can to finally win an unlikely League title.

Why couldn't he have just knuckled down and played to Ten Hag's system for the rest of season?

He could have helped the team he supposedly loves have as good a season as possible, left on a high and maybe even play himself into the thoughts of a champions league team.

Money is obviously more important to him than sporting integrity. Such a sad and stupid end to his time in European football. I just can't get my head around the mentality.
