I remember when he was back from 2006 world cup was heavily booed in England, then away match to Charlton it was I think that he hit one rocket of shot that hit the bar and the crowd went silent. They will boo him for first few games and then when Ronaldo gets down to business they will get quiet

If anyone would have told me we'll signed him back for what looks like the bargain of this summer i won't have believe, because at 36 he's still going to lit this Leauge up with fireworks of goals.

71cm is widely quoted but I never see a source. Even if it is a correct number it is likely to be standing vert which is a totally different metric.
The NBA combine is the best place to source real data on elite basketball players.
The average in 2021/22 season is 76.8 for standing vert and 93.4 for running vert.
Ronaldo is a good athlete, its a great header and the timing/execution are brilliant.
But athletically he is not comparable to these guys.

I’d understand the skepticism if it was the same deal as Juve payed but for the prices mentioned I really don’t see what’s so wrong about it. 15 million euros payed across 5 years, you just sold James for twice as much money. The wages are big but it’s only 2 years and it’s a significantly lower amount than at Juve. You also have to take into account that part of it will be payed back through merchandise sales and raising the profile of the club (bigger sponsorship deals, etc) so the wages shouldn’t be looked at as any other player’s. Plus it prevented him from going to a direct rival where he would have thrived…

What do you make of the transfer from a sporting perspective? Do you think Ronaldo made the right choice leaving Juve at this stage of his career to a more fast paced and physically demanding league with no guarantee that he’ll win anything? As a neutral, do you think he was better of going to city as he’ll have a greater chance of winning trophies.
From a sentimental point of view, the transfer is obviously great for United fans though.
At this money it's a no brainer. Only question is how does it affect on the pitch. With Ronaldo wanting to play every game and wanting to be the focus. While it's possible that Cavani might be a better no. 9....and has a better work rate?

Yeah, it's not a big risk if his wages are not insanely high. Transfer fee is nothing, paying 3 million per year for 5 years. It's all about wages.
This transfer has lifted everyone at the club already, the buzz this transfer generated was unreal. The way players talk, it's like meeting their hero or celebrity.
As a Ronaldo fan I just root for him to make his legacy as big as possible before he retires. From his perspective it would have been more likely to succeed (more goals, trophies and records) at City than at United but any success he has at United will mean a lot more than it would have otherwise. It's a huge risk to go to the Premier League at 36 years old but I still love that it happened.
