Cristiano Ronaldo - Man Utd Player

I think most important thing he will bring is the ego and the power to win and not accepting mediocrity. That is not a negative as some people mention here, it is a negative for the snowflakes. We had Cantona and Roy Keane in our dressing room ffs.

His sheer drive and determination is probably unmatched in the sport.

Then we also have Bruno.

It's only a positive for the team that we have players like that.

Ronaldo makes the signing of Trippier more important I think. Having Trippier and Shaw crossing from the wings to Ronaldo would make our attack very potent from that area of the pitch.

It doesn’t matter if he’s 26 or 36. Just his name on the starting lineup will strike fear into other teams.

He might have slowed down somewhat physically, but the guy is a machine who will give it everything he’s got every game and has an aura about him which will rub off onto the other players.

I would also imagine the shirt sales will pay for the majority if not all of his wages, so all in all it’s a great piece of business to bring him back here and personally for me it will be nice seeing him back in a Manchester United shirt as he has been my favourite player since he signed for us as a teenager.

All in all I can’t fault this transfer one bit.

I think it's pretty obvious what his motivation is?

I'm not sure why we aren't able to comprehend that he's still emotionally invested in United. Him coming back to the club to see out his career around people that idolise him and the chance to see Sir Alex again is just meant to be. Him being the one to help bring trophies back and develop our younger players, just like we helped him develop all that time ago. It's a fairly tale and what football should be about.

Messi to PSG had nothing compared to this.

Love this! Messi to PSG is him basically leaving the club he loved the most to end his career somewhere else, away from his fans just because him and Barcelona couldn't agree on his wages (like seriously I would play for the club I love for free if I knew they were in a shite shape). Cristiano grew in Manchester, travelled and conquered other leagues and now is coming back home to his fans and family, I can imagine how electric OT will be, if only I was able to attend a game there this season! For me I see a lot of posters here saying that Real got his best years, true in numbers and accolades indeed, but for me, that skinny boy Ronaldo that we had which used to leave us speechless with his flair and dribbling and later on with his unique freekicks, his telepathy with Wazza... this is the most special version of Cristiano for me

Don't like seeing people go on about him being our only recent Balon D'or winner. I mean yes but we did win the fecking Treble in 1999 where 4 of our players could easily have won it. Michael Owen won the thing a couple of years after that and certainly was no better than our 99 players. Sometimes that award isn't everything and I don't like that award being used as some indication our 99 team was somehow lacking because none of them won it.

Just throwing it out there, but do we now have the best player in the premier league?

Id personally say we do.
The thing that irks me is that Real saw the best of Ronaldo. I hope something like that never happens again - our best players moving on and peaking at other clubs.
I get that, but the lad gave me some of the best years of football to watch growing up and that’s the way I’m going to look at it.

I think more than his influence on the pitch he could be a massive influence on the coaching staff bringing all his experience and the table. Ole and Carrick were his teammates so I reckon talks will be informal when discussing views on tactics and players. I would like to think it would help if Ronaldo was part of coaching and team discussions.

When will we see the first sign of his greatest skill, the arms thrown up in the air skill as Fred blasts a pass out to the corner flag?

Just dawned on me that we get this lad as part of the package. That's Rooney's lad and Ronaldo's lad playing in the reserve team, together...

Better goal to game ratio than his old man, not bad

lifestyle and genetics. In the case of these two people Lifestyle>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>genetics
It really is the perfect example of how looking after yourself makes a difference doesn't it?

At their peaks there wasn't much between them, but after 27 the difference is staggering.

I still can't believe it's happened, like so fecking fast too  Between the rumors and the official announcement, 24hours basically
Well the way I saw it yesterday, right up until Ole’s press conference he was linked with City, so what was that around midday?

Then we announced it on the United website at like 4:30pm?

What a feckin afternoon it was.:wenger::devil:

With the likes of Giggs, Zlatan, Ronaldo, Zanetti etc etc.. all playing well in their advanced 30s, there is no reason not to expect more and more from footballers.

One thing just came in my mind looking at the nostalgia videos posted.
Grealish definitely styled his hair on early career Ronaldo, didn't he?

Went to bed feeling annoyed he was going to City.

Wake up and see the banner on redcafe that we re-signed Ronaldo. I thought it was a troll until I clicked it and saw the tweet.

Never been this stunned and shocked by a transfer of ours. I never thought he'd come back.

Just imagine one of the strikers not passing to him when in a position to score? The eyes and hands will go into overdrive.

We would've won our last game with him in the team. We miss a lot of chances. He will increase our chances of winning games simple as that.

You also create a lot of chances because everyone is working hard for the team and pressing. He might get the goals but I'm afraid other areas in the team will suffer.

In the space of one window our team is full of absolute winners and leaders. Training levels have gone up and team mate expectations have aswell. I believe we will see an immediate impact

Having not watched him much recently, I thought we’d be getting purely a goal scorer but his dribbling and skills are still ridiculous. Can’t fecking wait.
He’s still a very good footballer. I’ve been watching some performance videos of last season and physically he’s still a total machine. My only worry is his link up. He drifts wide left a lot and tends to ignore the overlapping runs - and if he’s 30 odd yards out he rarely ever passes. We have some proper top talent in this side and it really can’t just be the Ronaldo show for us to win a PL at his age and with how competitive it is here. If he can become more of a team player instead of just chasing individual stats with his 6 long shots a game then he’ll make us quite the team. In fairness watching him at the Euros he did pass to teammates a lot and he acts like the leader which he’s never really done at Juve - if we can get that Ronaldo then he’ll be a great signing.

Yes because having Anthony Martial as our number 9 is so much better.

I haven't been following every match but I assume there is a reason Martial massively fell down the pecking order. Obviously Ronaldo is the much better choice if you have to choose between the two but I'm still skeptical about Ronaldo's impact. He will get the goals but I'm afraid Utd's way of playing will become very one-dimensional (give it to Ronaldo), similarly to what happened at Juve. Anyway, I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Thats what he has always been like though. He has always had the habit of playing the moment rather than for the team. Part of the package.

It happened the same transfer window. City and Juventus got the best years of Tevez.

I think he became more team-oriented his final 2 seasons at Real personally.

Juventus weren't great in the end also tbf. Their team declined a lot.

I think his link-up play will be better here.
