That's completely fair, I just didn't want to be classed as "fanboi" or anything, I think he's motivated by personal accolades and not money.Your opinion. I disagree.

Agree with the reason, the money isn't the reason but I'm sure he feels aggrieved by it. I think there's a bit in of a lack of self awareness a with him though. No well run club who can challenge is actually going to bring him in at this point. We'd do well to move on and free up the wages. At his age he just doesn't do enough to make up for the stuff he doesn't do.Agree completely that it's bad timing and he is obviously a very self focused selfish person when it comes to his career, all players at the top are and have to be. I think it's disrespectful that he hasn't turned up to training and the excuse about family is not one I buy either, I support Man united and the manager but I don't believe this is sparked by a drop in wages, I think it's due to a lack of ambition in the transfer market and Ronaldo not thinking we will compete next year so now wants to move.

Glazers do the same thing every time, they are trying to turn us against Ronaldo, Ronnie has lots of faults but I don't think he's going to get upset about the extra bit of money as we can see from his career that is not what motivates him. They did the same thing with RR, Mourinho etc the minute they leave/ close to leaving then the media spin begins, Rashford speaking out now as well as the new face, it scares me that people seem to believe this too.
Frankly, just give him to these bagholder clubs for free, it will be better for United in the long runWe have to be bringing up the likes of Kante & Werner in conversations, would throw in James as top class RB but no chance they sell him.
Similarly if there was any truth in Barca stuff then the likes of Dembele & Aubameyang.
Bayern then obviously Gnabry is the one we should be trying to push for, forget Lewandowski because won't happen.

The team as a collective would replace him. We scored a lot more goals the season before he came.I'd back whatever the manager wants to do but if he goes, I worry where our goals come from and who would replace him right now, I don't see the next great striker etc in the market
He is burning bridges to force a move. Start fining him and get some leverage back. He doesn’t care about the money but for once the club cannot come across as weak. What? Ronaldo is asking to leave, out of the blue right at the start of pre season. Not 2 months ago when he could've and we could've planned better. The day before he's supposed to come for pre season, he says he wants to leave, and then doesn't come to training (whatever the case is). And is gone indefinitely. This is all about Ronaldo always looking out for himself. That's it

Similar trend at Juventus. That's true but we did have an obscene amount of penalties and played counter attacking football but that's a discussion for another thread anyway, hope you are right!
Similar trend at Juventus.

He has a choice but the choice to drop him is also faced with a lot of potential 'repercussions'That's very interesting, surely that has to be a choice of the manager to play to Ronaldo as well?
I've never blamed Ronaldo for wanting out. I just disagreed with the opinion of all players do not love their clubs. Some does some does not. You should follow the conversation. As good as those guys were, they’re not on Ronaldo’s level and don’t share his personal ambition to be seen as the best player of all time. That is his driving force behind all this. Personal glory. He’s not gonna get any of that remaining here for the last few years of his contract. He may never even play CL again if he stays as there’s no guarantee we’ll qualify for it next season.
Also, Del Piero and particularly Buffon were relatively young back then compared to Ronaldo now. So probably saw they had some time to get Juve back to the top. Ronaldo has no time.
No doubtI disagree a little bit tbh. I've been wondering this morning if his not being in the CL also affect any marketing deals and endorsements he has.
Similar trend at Juventus.
Surely it could actually be about the timing of it all and also then not showing up for pre season? Whether you believe he’s good enough or not is a totally different point. He’s thrown preseason prep (& not to mention planned signings/budgets) into absolute chaos with this selfish stunt.I find it very confusing that those saying he isn’t even that good anymore are the ones that are angriest. Surely, if he wasn’t that important or at that level anymore, this wouldn’t have caused the storm it has. It should surely just be like letting another player go.
There are many reasons for those stats and Ronaldo certainly isn’t the singular cause of it.
What about Madrid who had scored the least amount of goals in a decade immediately after he left in the following 2 seasons after his departure? Will we conveniently leave this out?
Or Juve even scoring less after his departure?
You didn't say it but it does sound like you are implying that Ronaldo caused Mason, Rashford and Martial's downfall. Since lots of goals came from them and they stopped scoring for various reasons. The team as a collective would replace him. We scored a lot more goals the season before he came.
They most probably did.You didn't say it but it does sound like you are implying that Ronaldo caused Mason, Rashford and Martial's downfall. Since lots of goals came from them and they stopped scoring for various reasons.
Except Zidane isn't taking over PSG.I'm guessing now Zidane will take over at PSG and Ronaldo will be his first signing
They've already appointed GaltierI'm guessing now Zidane will take over at PSG and Ronaldo will be his first signing
Something doesn't add up, especially after he gave interviews stating he was looking forward to working with Ten Hag and winning trophies.Surely something we can all agree on, whether you'd prefer Ronaldo to stay or go, is that his timing has been ridiculous? He could have easily communicated all this much earlier to the club and then we could've at least made CF a priority in the transfer window.
Instead he waits until 2 days before he's due back for pre season, and then doesn't turn up when he's supposed to aswell. I'm sorry but even if your pro Ronaldo surely you have to see how shit a thing that is to do when trying to prepare for a new season with a new manager.
It was just completely unnecessary.
Yeh I think the second part here is definitely a factor, Ronaldo still thinks he can start every game even though he just can't, and I'd say he didn't take kindly to being told that by EtH.Something doesn't add up, especially after he gave interviews stating he was looking forward to working with Ten Hag and winning trophies.
My guess, he either hoped a club would move for him earlier in the window and has now had to force the issue for the second summer in a row or Ten Hag has told him he is not in his plans as a regular starter.
I think it could well be this. Would make sense then why he's not in training (if you don't believe the 'official reason'.Something doesn't add up, especially after he gave interviews stating he was looking forward to working with Ten Hag and winning trophies.

All I’m saying is I doubt people would care as much if it was another squad player. Clearly the guy is very central to our plans for next season.Surely it could actually be about the timing of it all and also then not showing up for pre season? That’s a possibility, but I personally just think it was just lip service and his intention was always to leave the second we didn’t qualify for CL football.Something doesn't add up, especially after he gave interviews stating he was looking forward to working with Ten Hag and winning trophies.

Perfectly said. The Caf is so duplicitous
95% of fans were delighted when he arrived here.
Ole fecked up the transition from counter attacking to the high press / 4-3-3. Was sacked, and rightly so.
The board / Arnold hired a mediocre director of football from the Russian league as the manager. He proceeded to put together the worst coaching staff ever assembled at Man United. Poor pre match prep, awful training sessions, dressing room mayhem, an openly critical manager and abysmal tactics.
Ten Hag hired in, we continue to bumble through transfers, trying to pry a once promising talent from Barca, depth at LB, depth at CB without addressing DM and RB (IMHO our greatest needs, and don’t tell me Frenkie is a DM, he’s not).
He lost a child.
The guy is 37 years old, he has a very compelling argument as the GOAT, he wants to extend his records in the CL, and he probably has 2 years of top football left. You bring a player like this in, there is a responsibility by the club to assemble a squad and coaching staff that can legitimately challenge for trophies. We’ve failed miserably.
You could argue that this was his worst season as a footballer ever. Ronaldo is certainly a record chaser, he can be a complete ass, he’s arrogant and self centered. But he has given this club great moments of joy over the years. If he wants to leave to further his legacy, I have no problem with that.
Whether you rate him as good or bad he is clearly (by a long way) the most high-profile player on the team. Does that even have to be said? All I’m saying is I doubt people would care as much if it was another squad player. Clearly the guy is very central to our plans for next season.
Would be hard not toStill hope he stays to be honest.
There we so few joyful moments last year, and probably the Leeds battering aside, every other moment of joy was Ronaldo related.
However, if we can manage to improve overall if he does go, then of course that has to be the better option.
Would be hard not to
I have full confidence in ETH personally, although this Ronaldo circus is really not at all what he needs as he's settling into the role. You say that, but there's always a way down!
