Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

If he wants to go, leave him go. We need to just move on and get on with rebuild of the squad. His wages will cover 2 players. But then the fecking Glazers need there pin up.? Who the feck is that going to be FDJ.?

I'd love him to stay but if he wants out just hurry up and find a new club.

I suppose the club's biggest worry is the prestige and the shirt sales of losing Pogba, and now Ronaldo more than team players. Social media has an unhealthy pull on young teenagers and kids. They were wanting to go and watch games at Old Trafford just to watch Ronaldo. Not United.

Greenwood!... yeah OK back in the real world the options I can see would be

Iccardi
Oshimen
Martinez

All would be a risk and an expensive risk so I guess we keep ronaldo for a season who will probably still score a lot (and sulk)

Then we reassess next summer when the Greenwood situation will be totally clear and garnacho has had a season to develop and who knows ten Hag might even get rashford or martial performing through the middle

If we had to go for one player though this summer I'd say oshimen as he looks more suited to the pl

You forgot to say that Ronaldo (37 years old, playing in a shite team and scores 24 goals) along with De Gea carried us all season and we at least got into the EL.

Mourinho and Ronaldo saw what's going on at our club and i tend to take their word and not yours or others here.

Mourinho and Ronaldo, the two biggest self-serving pricks in football today.

The same players without Ronaldo finished second a year previous. Maybe he blunted our play? Like he did at Juventus? Like he did with Benzema at Madrid? Like he did with Rooney first time round?

If such selfless ( even I can’t commit to that as a bit) people as Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo say something then I guess it must be true

He blunted our play and scored 24 goals in this team?

''Like he did at Juventus??'' : ---- juventus spent the next season after he left not knowing if they would make CL and had no good goalscorers!!

Ronaldo is sad!
He wants a strong statement on the market. Aka a little raise. He's not going anywhere.

I'd rather watch United playing with kids than massage these massive egos hijacking the club.

Yes, i could agree with that but they still are born winners (Mourinho still won EL with Roma) and that's what matters most.

I despair of some of our fanbase wanting him to captain the side. I'd hate to be on a sinking ship with him being the captain.

Honestly where can he go?

Real Madrid would be mad to take him as benzema is a far better option as their striker, Bayern have just signed mane as Lewandowski replacement and suits nagelsman tactics a whole lot better than a static ronaldo and they still have Lewandowski in their books, psg aka mbappe ain't going to bow down to ronaldo demanding the team play to serve him on the pitch.

Napoli maybe but can they really afford his wages? The other Italian champions league side ain't going to touch him. I can't imagine xavi or simeone would not entertain him for several big reasons the main one being the financial constraints. Everything points to just chelsea as being able to afford his wages, offer champions league football and desperate enough to make do with a short term striker solution.

I would not surprise me if united stupidly bow down to ronaldo and his sleazy agent and allow him to spend his last year of his contract on loan at another club and helping out the club loaning him by still paying for half his wages

Same Jose that went Spurs got sacked and watched Conte do what he couldn’t.

If what Romano said is true, then he doesn't want to 100% leave but have us on standby and depending on his whims. We can't have a situation where he asks to leave in the end of August because he found a club willing to sign him... Either we put him up for sale now or he shuts up and plays.

Not to mention that no CL contender team will be remotely interested in him (maybe PSG if they haven't learned their lesson).

If this is a ploy to get the Glazers to spend more cash, I don't think it is going to work. If he really wants to leave, good riddance.

You aren't wrong, but at the same time those 'fans' will only be here for as long as Ronaldo is. He was staying maybe 1 more year at best IMO.

The club will survive without Ronaldo, and somebody else will step up out of his shadow. Maybe a year or 2 without any 'disneyland' distractions will be good for us.

The circus that Pogba/Ronaldo bring isn't a great spotlight when the side are struggling.

Either sell him in the next 2 weeks or tell him he’s staying and that’s that.

I think he will have lined up a club already to have come out with such a strong statement. It won't do his ego much good if there are no takers over the summer.

* I have not seen any direct quotes from him or his agent.

Trying to think of a team that would genuinely be competitive for a champions league that doesn’t already have good front lines. It’s still probably a pretty large invesment for a 37yr old on around 375k a week. PSG distanced themselves already, Madrid have Benzema, Bayern Are probably his best option if they want and could afford him. Go win an easy league, probably score bucket loads with the state of the defending in the Bundesliga. However I just can’t see them going for it.

I think he’ll end up staying. Mainly Becuase there won’t be a buyer for him.

I may be in the minority but I believe that signing Ronaldo was a big mistake and letting him leave will prove to be a net positive for the club even without a direct replacement. I say that for 2 reasons:
1. Football has largely moved on from the days of relying exclusively on a point man up top to get the goals. Granted there are still some great 9s banging in goals for their teams (Benzema Lewandowski, Haaland), many teams survive and thrive easily without having the big number 9 up top. Take a look at the Premier League, how many of the best players and indeed top scorers are still number 9s? Salah, Son, KDB, Mane (yeah I know he's gone now), Jota. None of them are 9s. City literally won two titles and dominated the league without a true 9. Yeah I know they went out and got Haaland now but point still stands. Playing without a true 9 can easily be done and we have players with a strong eye for goal in the team (Rashford, Bruno). What needs to improve is the build up play and chance creation. The goals will flow after that.

2. Ronaldo's arrival messed up the form of so many players because of his tactical inflexibility and his subpar link up play abilities. Rashford, Bruno, Martial, Greenwood, Cavani all suffered massive drop offs in form because of his arrival. They were much better before Ronaldo joined and I back them to rediscover that form (Minus Greenwood and Cavani obviously) with greater tactical flexibility and unpredictability in attack going forward. We just need to get the chance creation and build up play part right.

Don't think he would be interested at all but is Martinez any good leading the line

It’s Chelsea.

That's genuinely the thing isn't it? who can afford him and who has the space? it's surely only a handful of clubs at best.

If he wants to go to Chelsea for a year just to play in the CL then fair fecks to him, but he will prove he has zero care for the club.

Did anyone actually believe he does? Honestly?

Chelsea reporters are saying Tuchel doesn’t want him. Bayern to replace Lewandowski seems plausible.
