Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

At least google search the terms you're using incorrectly instead of doubling down by writing a wall of shite.
... You just wrote "no u."???? I'm being serious. You don't know what the straw man fallacy is. You wrote "you're saying Dan James is world class". That is literally using the straw man fallacy.

What you're doing now is called "ad hominem" for what it's worth so hopefully you've learned something new today.

If it wasn't for how barren the striker market is at the moment this would be a complete no brainer. There are very few replacement options but bringing Ronaldo back was a huge mistake and we will function as more of a team again once he's gone.

If we manage to get a high pressing forward in, I think we will be better off for it. Even if they are a fairly average goalscorer.

Thats what I meant by the press building on the "ronaldo wanting out" rumour. They basically spin a more imaginary fairy tale to make people buy into their stories. They do it all the time, especially the multiple "Ole has lost the dressing room" crisis stories starting from 18/19 till 21/22.

As for Todd Boehly, he is the owner but he is not the one who goes looking for a player. That is Chelsea's recruitment team and Tuchel's job. Boehly is the one that decides to approve the transfer bid, if there is any, since Maria has left now.
Ronaldo’s agent met Boehly and now he wants out. That’s not building on a story, that’s two things that Stevie Wonder would suggest were linked.

Asp find it hilarious that an owner will stop and listen to the recruitment team. You mean like Woodward did when we signed Ronaldo? He’s new and wants to make a statement, and to somebody who knows football a bit and not a lot, signing Ronaldo is a statement, because they’re often blinded to the fact that he’s likely to be a hindrance.

Ronnie playing 4D chess and forcing the glazers to spend more. ;)

Ronnie playing 4D chess saying it's about transfers when it's actually about CL football, but isn't sure at this point if a CL club will want him, so is pretending it's about transfers. Which means he can stay if he doesn't get a CL club to take him, as we're obviously going to sign some players, or go after we've signed players as he can still say we didn't do enough for his liking.

He can even play the hero card if he does end up staying, by saying we only spent the money we did because he'd threatened to go.

Honestly, CR7 was always a short term solution that looks increasingly untenable. If we are going to rebuild, let’s do it properly and yes it may be better to go through the pain of being without him and his goals. But ETH may find it easier to integrate his system without CR7’s lack of pressing. The timing could have been better but the club continues to shoot itself in the foot with the glacial transfer activity.

honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if ETH told him he wants a different striker to start and told Ronaldo he can leave. His side have now leaked he wants to leave instead to make it seem like its his decision.

Either way, we need another striker.

We better look for a replacement than leak all these stories about how he doesn't fit our style anyway. I'm getting a bit pissed off about our inactivity on the market now. It's all good buying the third LB or the sixth CB but if the only striker you have leaves that's the fecking priority.

We don’t really have a different striker though. I don’t think Rashford or Martial are viable options for a team trying to fight it’s way into top 4 of probably the best league in Europe.

We aren't going to make it into the top 4 next season. The current top 4 teams have all strengthened. We are patching up the holes and trying to figure out how to play the ETH way.

If we get in the top 4 next season, I would give ETH a lifetime contract. Pep couldn't have done a better job.

And based on the comment of Ronaldo trying to force the Glazers to open up their cheque book, make him the assistant DOF or vice CEO then. ;)

outsider perspective... your coach/owner/mgmt has made it clear to him the team is going another direction, but as a sign of ultimate respect to a top 2 alltime, they're giving him the "power" to twist the narrative in his favour.

Almost anywhere else, he's likely told he's not in the plans and the media would be reporting that as well.

Don Corleone relax….

I know it gets stressful but even if he leaves the market is poor for strikers. So don’t be expecting anything special. We are better off filling the rest of the gaps with his removed wages.

The owners are billionaires -- they will have massive egos. They will never allow a player/employee to make them look bad as a favour.

Ronaldo's agent might have met Boehly, but the boss still needs to let his staff know whether they want this player. Its similar to a business opportunity pitched to a CEO and he consults it with his team of directors. It was the same with Ronaldo coming here and to say that Woodward was the one that wanted Ronaldo to come here, is just something we read off the press but with no truth. The bigger problem is that the press dont even know how a club structure works. Its not the owner that makes the transfer decision but the football director, which is Murtough. Woodward just gives the go ahead after being informed by Murtough and ensuring that the finances are still sufficient.

As for building on the story, you are clearly not reading what I said. The press are making Ronaldo sound like the worst man on earth by saying he had run-ins with Rangnick etc right after the transfer rumour came out. Its in the same vein as Ole losing the dressing room 1000 times.

He doesn’t want to play europa league. Never has in his entire career unless I’m mistaken?

If he doesn’t want to be here.. let him go and I’m his biggest fan girl. We just can’t have him not in a good place. He’s way to big a character to keep around if he’s not happy. We need players that 100% want to be here and battle them all as ETH puts it

If he didn't want to be here he would have said it after last season ended.
Can't everyone see that our owners/club let him and all of us down?!

Where are the incoming transfers - close, interested, motivated ?!!

This boils down to :

Ambition
Standards

and he can see that our club has lost these a long time ago.

We cannot play ETH football to its best capabilities with a CR7 upfront. You’re concerned about the name. I don’t care about that. I would rather a better functioning team. We was a far better team with a pressing Tony Martial and Bruno scoring all the goals than we are with the two moaning murtles in CR7 and Bruno. He’s turned this all team into a circus like he did with Juventus.

Its not the name its the result. Ronaldo will score more than Rashford and Martial. He linked up play very well too. If we were signing Haaland or Nunez or something, fine but they've gone. We'd probably end up with Calvert-Lewin

The market is not good but players like Schick could be lured away and he was very good last season. Also feck knows why we didn't go hard on Nkunku before he extended. I feel our priorities would be all different when Ronaldo leaves. We needed a forward even before that as I don't trust Martial or Rashford to rediscover any kind of proper form again. But with Ronaldo probably leaving too it's a must. More so than probably any other position bar CM. If the Glazers are too cheap to invest in that position I hope we really start turning on them. Can't go into a season with Martial, Rahsford, Sancho and Elanga as our strike force. One or two injuries and we are fecked. Probably even without injuries...

If ETH can get the team playing how we all wish, then we won’t need a mega striker. City won the league without a proper 9. He managed to get haller to score a crap load of goals.

Obviously Ronaldo scored a lot for us last year but the whole team was aimed around him. If we can get a striker that helps us press, holds up the ball better and is in the right position to score, we will be fine.

It’s not like Ronaldo did anything crazy last year, only really the spurs goal was something special.

I see PRonaldo has worked on you then

He pulled exactly the same stunt this time last year at Juve. Last-minute request for a transfer when the club were planning for him as part of the team.
As much money as he is worth, at some point it cant be about the money but more for the greater good. His legacy at United will be fecked by this tantrum throwing.

Ever since his return, he's been in tantrum mode. Imagine if he stays and is in even bigger strops all season because he doesn't want to be here. I still remember him getting booed by the Stretford End in the 2008-09 season because of the tantrums he was throwing because he wanted to be in Madrid. This would be much worse so I'd rather he just left.

He probably will. The difference is with him, he can get you 20 goals but the rest struggle to get 10. Without him someone gets close to 20 goals (not as much as him) whilst more players score more than 10.

How many managers has he played under? A dozen at least. He probably sees managers as hinderance to his legacy records.

Which is why I reckon we will invest in the Right sided forward. I understand not trusted Rashford/Martial. But besides Kane and Haaland who in the league has better Strikers? Nunez literally had one good season.

Compared with our current ambition (Top4). I don’t see it being a problem.

I agree, I think it will be 3-4 years before we can realistically cement a top 4 place again - barring years when one of the usual top 4 is rotten by injuries or performs well below expectations. Arsenal are probably ahead of us in development as well.

We have 4, at a stretch 5 players for 3 positions up front. Even if Martial and Rashford by some miracle find their form again we need more bodies up front. Especially as Martial has been a sicknote for Sevilla. We need one or even two proper forwards I don't think that's even up for debate. Certainly more than the sixth freaking CB.

Admittedly, there were moments of individual brilliance from Ronaldo last year, However, when those moments of brilliance do not happen we become aimless. Ronaldo going could well be a moment to celebrate if the team blossoms as a collective than a bunch of expensively put-together individuals.

I see that you're still blind to what's going on at our club then.
Nope, quite aware that we signed a narcissistic scumbag to the extent I spent the majority of last season being attacked when I said I didn’t want him anywhere near the club. A player who’s spent his career blunting his teammates so that he can claim personal glory. A player who despite approaching 40 years old still throws petulant tantrums like mummy didn’t buy the sugary cereal he wanted.

It seems like you’re blind to the kind of person being talked about.

I'd try and get someone like Schick AND a right winger

Ronaldo is a better goalscorer than any other striker we have.

But even when adding his 18 league goals last season, our overall team goals (which is more important by far) dropped by 16.

So rather than focusing on us somehow trying to replace the 18 goals Ronaldo brought last season, think of it as us trying to claw back some of the 34 goals that went missing when Ronaldo arrived. He at the very least contributed to that and even if you want to believe he didn't, the team can still improve on whatever other factors in our play caused that defecit.

Given his goals didn't stop that defecit from occuring, the loss of those goals won't neccessarily prevent you from regaining them either. Or at least enough of them to be fine.

You forgot to say that Ronaldo (37 years old, playing in a shite team and scores 24 goals) along with De Gea carried us all season and we at least got into the EL.

Mourinho and Ronaldo saw what's going on at our club and i tend to take their word and not yours or others here.

Really hope he goes. I just don't like him as a professional. I am not bothered that he is great at scoring goals, I can't stand us having someone so ego obsessed and selfish. He goal ha hangs and tantrums EVERY game.
I am telling you now the reason he wants to go... Champions League... He is obsessed with adding to his all time CL stats and competing with Messi. This above ALL current club needs and any loyalty.

I would rather Elanga play up front the whole year and score less.

So please sell him, have a better atmosphere and feel like a new forward moving United.

The same players without Ronaldo finished second a year previous. Maybe he blunted our play? Like he did at Juventus? Like he did with Benzema at Madrid? Like he did with Rooney first time round?

If such selfless ( even I can’t commit to that as a bit) people as Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo say something then I guess it must be true
