Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

And now we are regretting not moving for Darwin Nunez when we had the chance.
And it is because of that egomaniac. If he was honest and said this when season ended, we would go all in for Nunez. But he waited till now.

A swap with Lewandowski would be a straight upgrade for us. Both parties should be happy with that.

eh? we wanted Nunez but he turned us down. This hasn't just appeared over night.

He was by far our major problem

Bs. Holy shit. Non of our forwards last year bar him performed. Our midfield was non existant. Not to mention our defense. But yeah Ronaldo was the major problem. The irrational hate some of you have on him is not healthy lads.

How is it hard to understand. We scored more goals and looked a far better team BEFORE we signed Ronaldo. We literally finished second + ahead of Liverpool without him. That's the logic.

It's pretty obvious he's been sulking his way through the season. Half our team looked utterly demoralised the entire campaign. The problem in so far as I see it is that if Ronaldo comes in and tells you you're shit, how the hell can you even argue with him? And as a manager, telling basically the best player in world history (or second at least) how to play is an impossible job. I love Ronaldo and everything that came with him but I 'get it' insofar as he makes a team worse sometimes, he did the same at Juve.
He’s not the sole reason we turned to absolute shit though is he ffs.

I've had a cup of tea to let this stew, and for this to happen only now really does seem like promises were broken with regards to new signings. My guess is the lack of a striker signing to-date and Ronnie's camp twisting the club's arm to ensure that we spend a new striker. Either way, it's a win-win for fans and Ronaldo.
Funny how leaks of us looking at that young Brazilian striker broke around the same time.

Or I could be reading too much into things.

Come on, we turned to utter shite even before Ronaldo signed. Did you just forget the depressing end to Ole's penultimate season?

How is it EXACTLY that we signed him, Sancho and Varane and turned to absolute shit?

Ask Ole. But the reason is hardly one of the only players actually performing decently.

Also can we stop the notion that we suddenly turned shit? We were crap before too but often saved by some moments of magic. Nothing sustainable. Anyone with half a brain could see these results last year coming from miles away.

Was probably expecting Haaland or Nunez and got Malacia.

If we get rid of Ronnie, Sancho and Varane then we will finish second again or something. Like fecking actual hell. Swear some people just check the FT scores on SSN and nothing else.

It's the best thing for United. Ronaldo's style of play is too limited for this level now. You're guaranteed goals because he's an intelligent player but United need more than that.

Well none of us know the whole story so it’s daft for so many to be losing their shit.
For all we know ETH has told him he won’t play, will barely play, or will have to accept alot of time on the bench.
Or, he’s told him he’ll be first choice every week and Ronaldo wants to leave anyway.
No-one knows, so I’m pretty calm about the whole thing. I’ve been confused about us being in for Eriksen, but it makes more sense to be now bringing in another attacking player.

Maybe Bruno as a false 9?

definitely reading too much into it.

He got subbed in 1 game and literally threw a fit. You think he wanted us to sign a striker to bench him completely?

The guy is just selfish and doesn't want to play in the europa league, it's ruining his image. OK bye felicia.

Why would Bayern accept that? Getting Ronaldo in the place of Lewandowski is a huge downgrade for Bayern.
Because Ronaldo is a huge world star, would still score 30+ goals in a Bayern side and Lewandowski wants out. It's not difficult to figure out.

Bye. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Cue the media now to start claiming Ronaldo is a massive loss and should never leave the club...after saying the total opposite all season

This will be good practice for ETH to get use to the circus around everything at United.

Hope the club aren't serious about forcing him to stay.

Bye, thanks for nothing. You were especially shit vs Liverpool and City. Selfish prick.

The one man we had in a team full of entitled pu$$ies and we chased him away. We will NEVER win anything whilst owned by our grifting, carnival barker owners.

The thing is with all this hype around Nunez, we signed our own young star attacker last season, Sancho is better and a bigger talent than Nunez and we will see Sancho as a much better player than he shown at the club so far, with a competent tactical coach like ETH.

I didn't forget and obviously Ole shoulders 99% of the blame, it's why he got sacked. But I always thought at the time that signing a player like Ronaldo is what's killed Ole because the -expectations- changed at Old Trafford. People were seriously talking about us being favourites for the league title. Now as you say, anyone who watched us at the end of the season knows that we were in no way shape or form ready to challenge for the title, but this was a squad that genuinely mounted a title challenge. I'm sure we were top of the league in December or something ridiculous at one point as well. So how is it that signing what seem to be quality players like Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho could destroy us the way it did - it made us set up differently. We couldn't sit and counter teams at Old Trafford anymore, we had to try to control games. And Ole played that 4-2-4 which was an absolute DISASTER when we had the lazy players and lack of running we had with Matic-Pogba-Ronaldo jogging around.

Gutted for it to end like this but it did seem his presence made the dressing room worse. I think a similar thing happened in his last year at Juve where they were languishing out the CL spot for much of the season. A lot of players are just not on his level and take it the wrong way.

I think it might be a good thing though, we really have to walk before we can run and we're a long way off. We're always trying to get back too quickly with big signings. It will be another slog to try and get top 4 with City Pool and Spurs looking to be locked and Chelsea more than likely bounce back after the Russia fallout.

De Jong is perhaps one of those players that is probably out of reach, we'll see. Would be great to see his quality in midfield but there's glaring problems elsewhere for such a class player to come right now.

Lewa most likely wouldn't come either as we're not genuine top 4 material.

I only wanted him last summer so City couldn’t have him and I could laugh at the bluenose who sat opposite me at work, who was getting all excited about signing him.

I never really felt he respected the club when he was here first time or whilst he was playing away. He signed because we were a successful club and stayed to play for Sir Alex who I think became a father figure for him. Great footballer, but doesn’t have the club at his heart really and not a club legend for me.

However, we need his goals for next season, and I have confidence he’s professional enough that he’d put in the effort and performances if we refused a transfer. So, fine he can go, but we need a genuine 20 goal a season replacement. Not a “mum says we have a striker at home: Martial”.

If we can’t get one, we need to make him stay.

I don’t think not bringing in a striker is what’s done it (he’s a vain fecker who’d probably prefer better service to competition) but moreover not brining in anyone at all, and mostly looking at young Erdervise players whilst our not particulalry glamorous matinee signing drags on and on…. It’s a cnuts move if he knew he was gonna leave and waited until now. No one would’ve blamed him if he’d said bye at the end of the season, but waiting until it’s still early enough to spook our targets but late enough to make it hard to find a replacement (especially after several previous leaks about him becoming impatient with progress) does look like he’s pulled the rip chord when he thinks the ship is sinking.

He wants CL, sure, but I reckon he’d stay if he felt we had a chance of competing for the league - however daft that sounded at any point! - or winning some cups…. The further this window goes on, the more it looks like we’re settling for another frustrating scrap.

It might be best for the long term, but it’s shitty timing in the short term… I know everyone likes to pretend the long game is all that matters, but the short is just as important. We wouldn’t be in half the shit we are if we’d taken our last managerial appointment or the January window more seriously. We fecked the short term then, and it’s costing our long game now.

Also, we have literally no strikers. Both the rapists have fecked us.

Are people angry at Ronaldo? Really? I wish him luck wherever he goes.

Sure but then we signed even MORE players capable of utter magic, or so it looked. Look at the expectations after we signed Ronaldo vs before we signed him. People talked about us being title contenders. I didn't personally believe it, but be honest: did you think that signing those players (inc Ronaldo) gave us MORE of a chance of winning the title, or less?

He did that to himself
We snatched the shift of his back and gave it to ronaldo.

Cavani didn't say anything and played it cool but with the advantage of hindsight it would be reasonable to say that it left a bitter taste in his mouth.

I mean that he was looking for some major investment and got a Feyenoord left back.
