Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

I get the style over individiaul argument.
No better example than RVN being replaced by the lesser, but better for the team Saha.

But we don't have anything like Saha on the books. Martial and Rashford's stock have never been lower.

Can we not look for one? Jonathan David is a player who that fits that profile.

Really? Who cares. If they perform i dont care if they think they are doing Manchester United a favour or are self centered celebrities. Footballers these days are celebrities, brands, social media influencers and whatever else there is. If they perform, dont cause problems in the team and the club has succes i dont see the problem. I do have a problem with bad players who think they are a superstar brand even when they are very limited players. Jesse JLingz Lingard comes to mind as an example for that category.

I dont think there are many players left who have the ''earn the shirt'' and ''bleed for the badge'' attitude towards Manchester United and also have the required quality to play for Manchester United. The ''United dna'' and ''gets the club'' mentality is why we have to endure watching someone like McT play every week...
So you are happy Pogba a record signing walk out for free, you like the Pogmentary?
You like that Ronaldo a player we were planning next season around choose to seek an exit at this point when the window plans are already well underway, what do you think we'll get for him in terms of fees, do you think it will be enough for a replacement, do you think he cares?.
We should make our own stars, that's what Liverpool did, that's what SAF use to do. This lot don't have any loyalty to the club.

We didn't improve with him at all.

That settles the debate for me in a no legend status. A self absorbed person with no leadership qualities. Just a fair weather player. We don't need that.

So he can feck off if he wants, just give us a fair amount of cash.

PD: Kai Rooney is better than your kid anyway

If he wants to go, then we should get rid. Last thing ten Hag will want is a player stinking up the place.
100% this. We just don’t seem to learn do we? The last thing the dressing room needs is even more toxic behaviour from unhappy players.

Is it possible that we're the ONLY club who can't conclude transfers???
Well is it??

We've signed literally more players than I can even remember in the last decade. Signing the right players is where we have gone wrong.

I agree in general but have a feeling that they aren't ready for the fallout from fans and implications of having someone like Ronaldo jumping ship.
The club are obviously going to push as hard as they can the narrative that he’s forced a move as it makes them look less bad. Then they’ll rejoice when he makes Chelsea significantly worse.

Two people demanding change and demanding standards - Ralf and Ronaldo, OUT. Surprise? Its nothing to do with signings. Its because of the give everyone a second chance bollocks. Ronaldo saw everyone downs tools and what has changed? Nothing. Sure get Malacia and De Jong. Heck get Antony in as well. But the cancer, the down toolers are still there. They will still be playing next season. The whole defeatist. Oh we cant change everything in one window and it takes time and its a rebuild is bollocks. Ralf new it and Ronaldo knows it. If we sacked two big time failures - say Maguire and Rashford and brought in anyone. Even ok but not great players. Say Antony and Martine. We still wouldnt win the league. We would be fighting for fourth. But Ronaldo would have respected that. It would be closer to the United he knew and loved and he would stay and fight. The United he came back to and still is now is broken, defeatist and full of down toolers and quitters. He cant say it in the press but Ronaldo knows it and he wants no part of it. I cant blame him.

Ah, I’m just messing really but I think there were a lot of us who didn’t put much stock in that second place finish. I always liked this tweet re the late goals etc.

Haha thats a nice tweet but was last season, and post Ronaldo signing, tbf.

Rashford/martial/sancho/elanga/bruno/V.DB would be the main contributers i would imagine.

Ronaldo leaving would make the budget considerably bigger aswell through a transfer fee and wages off the books.
Those two... :nono: :nono:

How many chances were they given before they pissed all over it time and time again? The last thing we need is to rely on down-toolers who have been known to sit in the shadows at the slightest bit of internal competition they face (Zlatan, Lukaku, Ronaldo).

No matter how crap he plays, he’s definitely going to the World Cup.

He won't play crap on purpose. Didn't when we refused his move to Real the first time round either. He sulked a bit more on the pitch but hey ho.

Might not be the worst thing. Maybe if he made his intentions clear earlier we’d have tried harder to sign Darwin, but either way forces us to start completely new under the new regime and sign a young striker who fits ETH style of play. No delaying what would needed resolving next year anyways.

What would you do? Let him feck off and hope for the best? I doubt we have the funds to get a striker as well this summer. Plus we did that once already and he still played well back in the days.

If however we can get a proper forward in (which I doubt) I'd have no problem letting him go.
Look at what happened with Cavani when we denied him an exit in January. There is no point in hanging onto unhappy players.

The last thing we need is Ronaldo pulling a Cavani and being unavailable through “injury” for 90% of the season.

Makes sense, so you borrow money to bring the spending forward?
That's one complication. Would depend on the payment structure the selling club demands.

For example. If they accepted £50m in 4 equal installments (£12.5m a year) + £250k a week wages (£12.5m) then the same £25m a year is going out of the door.

Yikes. Thought crossed my mind but seeing it written out puts a knot in my stomach. Hope it's not the case and just Ronaldo wanting to play CL football. Then again, this is coming a bit late in the window...

Who is young, available, fits the style and would survive the pressure of replacing Cristiano? The media pressure is going to be massive.

Was fun to see him back, but Ronaldo is so big I think it'd be better if he left.

Understand why he needs to leave... but where will he go though? I struggle to think of suitable place for him to go... won't go back to Spain (Real) as they are fully loaded, Bayern seems not interest at all, can't see him moving for another PL clubs (Chelsea), that only leaves Italy, France and Portugal.

For France there is only PSG, unless they are somehow selling Neymar, there is simply no place for him with Mbappe, Messi, Neymar up front.

Well for Italy, don't really think he will return to Juventus as they are still undergoing their own rebuilding process with not much hope of winning trophy soon, Inter just got Lukaku back for loan, Roma won't play in CL next season... so that only left with Milan, who has Zlatan but will be out injured for long.

Finally, there is no club in Portugal who could afford him, and he sure won't challenge for CL again if he moves back to his home club Sporting.

Doubt Ronaldo would do that

Absolute worst case scenario is Ronaldo has made this move having seen the De Jong transfer fall away.

Agreed. Writing was on the wall when it came out that Ronaldo was increasingly frustrated with our transfer activity.

As much as I hate to admit it, he is more ambitious than the club.

If he doesn’t want to be here he can go.
Very simple.
I don’t care how good he is (and I don’t think he’s all that now) anyone who isn’t 100% buying in should not be involved.
This is a new start. Get on board or jog on.

The slave comments will be out soon. Where's Sepp Blatter?

Ronaldo, £500,000 a week.

Pogba, £250,000.

Cavani, £200,000.

Lingard, Mata, Matic £100,000-150,000

All guesses but I doubt I'm far wrong. There should be plenty money there for another 4-5 signings if he does go. Getting them done is another thing.

Him leaving is the best thing for us.
First of all that's absolutely wild to suggest imo, considering the current striker market and lack of adequate replacements. And the even bigger issue is that we absolutely don't have the budget for it and something will have to be sacrificed.

But the far bigger problem here is that, basically, the only highly decorated player in our club (bar Varane) is coming out and telling us that this club is going nowhere and he doesn't want to be part of it. And most people's reaction is - "we don't need you anyway".

As long as it's not a Premier League club he can feck off
