It's been reported all week that Mendes has been pushing for a move there. Even earlier the news was of them wanting to renew to be allowed to go on loan this season to Atletico.
They've been named as the only realistic suitor for more than a week now after the Chelsea and Bayern links fizzled out.
It is a positive update for Sir Ronaldo, not believing bullshit is only for any negative news.

There's a reason that it's the only link he actually denied publicly so far as that would effectively mark the end of his career at the very highest level in Europe.
Sporting aren't going anywhere and they would likely even take him back if he was 45 years old. He feels like he has a couple more seasons left at a high level though so I can't see him making that move no matter how much he wants to play CL football.
Going back to Portugal while his rival Messi is challenging for another CL at one of the best clubs would be far too much for his ego to handle
