*If ETH involved him and asked him to talk to Ronaldo - This is the worse scenario of the lot... he's just massively undermined himself.

The craziest, strongest person in a club should always be the manager.

If the manager is having to rely on outside resources it is telling.

Currently we don't know which option of the 4 above it is, but it doesn't matter. All 4 make the manager look weak.

No one wants him so I don’t really why what the meeting is about. Sure, he might want CL (so do we as fans!) but unless he buys himself out of his contract - which would be amazing - its time to knuckle down and stomach the EL Ronnie.

True, its a loose -loose for ETH anyway you look at it. How i wish he club never put this burden on ETH.

Omg! Does Ronaldo really think Bayern would want him? He'd have to take a 75% wage reduction to convince them and he'd not play in 75% of their matches. Bayern are a sensible club.

People belittling his personal circumstances without knowing the facts just a few months after he lost a child are utter cnuts. Especially those who sympathise with Pogba's injuries.

He had to be seen as the scariest, baddest, most feared but respected person in the locker room.

Pretty sure I recall him saying it in one of his many documentaries he got it from Sun Tzu - The Art of War.

How many players did SAF get rid off the minute a player undermined his personal position?

He wasn't delusional to think we'd get top 4, come on. We had finished 2nd and 3rd in each of the previous seasons. I predicted us to finish 4th that season, but I can tell you because I remember vividly that nearly everybody here was predicting us to finish either 2nd or 1st, and even outside of Utd fans nearly everybody was expecting us to finish within the top 3. I'd say he was delusional to think we could genuinely win the league which obviously seemed to be his main reason for joining, to be able to say he led Utd to their 1st league post-SAF which would undoubtedly have big accomplishment for his football legacy.
 
Think it's too risky letting him go to another PL team but I'd sell if a foreign team was interested.

You are reading far too much into it.

Sir Alex has helped Ronaldo through personal issues before and is the closest person at the club to Ronaldo. Ronaldo is fairly only just taking time to properly work through losing a child after returning to work nearly instantly when it happened. If Ten Hag thought it would be a good idea to have Sir Alex join them for a chat considering ETH barely knows him then it would just seem like a bit of a nice touch for me. Not everything is about "I MUST SHOW MY AUTHORITY!".
 
Ronaldo needs to stay...the man is a beast...even as a largely substitute this season, in this more organised and attacking side, he's banging in 20 goals

I do think SAF would go and see him anyway as there has been some kind if family issue as well to be fair and they are close. I also don’t buy SAF would have any influence now on a transfer, he can’t put United in the CL, he can’t make other clubs interested in paying/being interested.

Even if it is somehow related. ETH hasn’t got Ronaldo in mind long term either so he might literally be washing his hands of the player and the drama. He wants to coach the team and build for the future, if Ronaldo (and old player with 1 year left) wants a circus on the side let him be pampered by other people and not waste ETH’s time.

I'm not at all.

If SAF is there for any other reason other than a goodbye, its a mistake.

ETH needs to follow SAF's mentality, he has to be top dog in that locker room to those players.

I really don’t want him back now. I know it’ll leave us short up front but hopefully we can get someone in.

I can just see the trouble ahead with Ronaldo if he stays. Firstly, he’s going to create trouble if he’s not starting. It’ll invite constant media questions about him. It’ll add unnecessary pressure to ETH who has handled everything perfectly till now.

The biggest problem will be if Ronaldo does play, we can forget all the fluid football we’ve been seeing pre-season. Because Ronaldo can’t play like that. He just wants crosses and chances for him to tap in.

He needs to form relationships with his players.

Asking the closest person to him to be involved when it is a very sensitive time is sensible when you don't know him. It in no way undermines Ten Hag.

That was tragic. But let’s be honest, this has nothing to do with that.

Ronaldo and his agent have been quite active in a transfer move more than anything else. He’s not been on pre season tour due to him not wanting to stay. Utd have been happy with that arrangement too as they are open to letting him go.

Everyone that's suggesting Fergie is here to convince Ronaldo, there is no evidence that is the case.

The club do this sometimes, they wheel out Robson and Ferguson to watch the new manager in action do a brief interview for MUTV and then go home.

So there's that scenario.

Then there is the fact that any decision to be made with regards Ronaldo is not only a player transfer but has commercial ramifications. Maybe this requires a board meeting.

Exactly. Ferguson's meddling has become problematic but most United fans don't want to admit it.
