I disagreed with the thread but there is a weird conflict on the caf nowadays that anyone who is slightly skeptical about things is treated as a moaner. Ole's reign absolutely tore this fan base apart with unreasonable arguments on both sides. Hopefully EtH can unite us

Yup as an outsider I try and stay out of it for fear of catching shrapnel
but there's been plenty of examples in the last year or so. There was a German poster called @Hansi Fick (sorry for the tag mate but I'm giving you props) who said he didn't think RR was the Uber coach he was being made out to be and that United fans who were expecting the second coming of Klopp may be in for a surprise and he took a lot of flack and was called a WUM etc.Its really just society in general, it seems like the access to so much information has been counter productive because instead of confronting our preconceived biases with evidence which is freely / widely available we search for information which help us fight against the other side of any debate.

Which is why its a god awful idea to hire a manager who trades mainly on sentiment rather than competence. Its nepotism at its finest and coupled with some fans insane desire to be seen as "top reds" a lot of people put up with it for a long time. Either that or our fanbase is full of idiots who genuinely couldn't see that Ole was clueless and lurching from game to game with very little in the way of improvement or promise.
Ronaldo is taking the piss out of us now. I am not buying the family reasons thing to this extent.

It was embarrassing enough we had to wheel him out to bring Ronaldo back in the first place, I sure hope he’s not getting involved again to try and keep him…

Can't believe anyone is buying this. I'd fully expect him to show up immediately at his next club if a move happens in the coming days. Guy finishes the season, plays international football, goes on vacation but has family reasons just when it's time to show up for pre-season.
I hope he leaves too but it doesn't look like it'll happen. I can see him come back next month with a "I'm staying for you Sir Alex" quote when he finds no takers and then bitch and whinge when he's not an automatic starter.

Disagree. He scored a lot of goals last season and would, I'm sure, do the same again next. Whether or not he's what we need now is up for grabs (i agree it's best to part ways) but to call last season's top scorer a huge miss is odd.
If a move goes through, you'll see some of them even talk about how Ronaldo had no clue about any of this while he tended to his personal issue and his agent sold him to the highest bidder in the meantime. It started under Mourinho tbf, the civil war of sorts within the fanbase was brought upon during his tenure especially when he went AWOL ahead of his final season. Im not saying I agree with what he is doing, or that he has the profile to be part of that build for the future, but this just isn’t true.
AC Milan are building for the future with an exciting young team and a 41 year old striker. It’s more than possible. They just won the league.
The question is, if Ronaldo is prepared to look past himself for the benefit of the team. If he isn’t, then he needs to go.
There is no reason why he couldn’t be part of something special though, particularly with his ability. His attitude is everything, and perhaps he doesn’t have that in him.

That and the fact that no one wants him. This cannot be allowed to drag on. If he can't find a club by end of this month, he can't leave. He's had a month + now.

A buyout would be £20-25m.
That's not going to happen.
And it would be Mendes negotiating and not Ronaldo.
I expect Mendes to be involved if its talks with Murtough and Co.

Ronaldo > Manchester United if he’s just got carte blanche to do as he pleases. You’d really hope family issues are what’s stopping the club from putting its foot down. That, or we’re praying he finds a club, contrary to ten Hag’s niceties in the media.

Cristiano Ronaldo is travelling back to England for talks with Manchester United over his future, The Athletic understands.
Ronaldo is yet to work under new manager Erik ten Hag as he missed United’s pre-season tour to Thailand and Australia, citing family reasons.
The 37-year-old is expected in Manchester on Monday and will hold discussions with United, having informed them of his wish to leave this summer if a suitable offer arrives.
United's stance remains that Ronaldo is not for sale and he will be an important part of their squad in the 2022-23 campaign.
It is unclear at this stage if he will train with United on Tuesday, but he is expected to have face-to-face dialogue with Ten Hag in the coming days.
His return is believed to be viewed by the Old Trafford club as a positive sign.
Sources around the matter suggest it is increasingly likely that Ronaldo remains at United, but there is still a lack of clarity about the situation.
United's players were given Monday off after flying back from Australia, but will report back for training on Tuesday ahead of their final two games of pre-season.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly met with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes to discuss the situation and the idea of the forward moving to Stamford Bridge. The west London side have since ruled out a move for Ronaldo.
Ten Hag was asked on several occasions if he could provide an update on Ronaldo's future during United's pre-season tour but he stressed the situation had not changed and that he was not for sale.
Ronaldo has 12 months remaining on the contract he signed when he rejoined United from Juventus last summer. There is also an option for a further year which Ten Hag believes could be exercised.
Ten Hag, speaking in Melbourne on July 18, said: “I am well informed, he also has also an option (of another year).
“Yes (he could stay beyond this season), but to be honest, of course, I have signed here for three years, but in football it’s short-term as well. We have to win from the start. So I don’t look that far ahead.
“I have a strategy, it’s a process, it takes time but in the end, we have to make sure from the outset there is a winning team.”
Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions last season, finishing as United's top scorer, but was unable to help them qualify for the Champions League.
A lack of Champions League football this coming season, and the determination to fight for trophies, is thought to be part of the reasoning behind his desire to leave.
The forward wants United to be competitive at the highest level and is said to be keen for them to match his ambition by strengthening the squad.
United have made two signings so far this summer with Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen joining the club. Lisandro Martinez has also agreed to move to Old Trafford from Ajax.
Ten Hag's side open the new Premier League season at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on August 7.

By accounts, the family issue is genuine. Obviously bad timing with the fact his agent is looking for moves but he needs integrating into the group so would expect him to be in training. Ten Hag has consistently said he's a big part of his plans, there's no reason for him to be lying.
Come on Mendes, work your dark magic and get the guy a new club already jesus. How are Wolves' Portuguese quota looking this year I wonder? Room for one more surely.
I think the Sevilla defeat and the "Football heritage" thing was a big moment in the fan base but I think most fans were relived to see him go; although they/we also disliked a fair few of the players. The Ole in vs Ole out was next level insanity/civil war though and we're all seeing the effects of it still.
Thank feck. Ronnie staying is important to ETH's plans and it would allow us to move for a winger rather than a CF.
As usual the club would rather keep a 37 year old who doesn't want to be here, who doesn't suit the new manager's way of playing, rather than fork out money for a new forward. The Glazers will always look for reasons not to spend money and in other news water is wet.

I agree. We still have the option of Martial up front and Antony would be ideal to give us depth in attack. Surely AM starts the season up top anyway given Ronaldo hasnt trained with the team yet
