Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

Maybe leave a trail of Ballon Dors leading out of Old Trafford, then Manchester, then finally the UK, then show him 24 hours worth of videos of himself scoring goals so he falls into a stupor, then trick him into signing a contract for some third rate Portuguese team.

Stranger things happened in market, especially in last days of window, in case you are new to transfer window.
I don’t see why it’s so outlandish as Bayern could yet still rethink if they see it isn’t working in their pre-seasons games without a number 9.

And this is the transfer window, things are constantly changing. Anyone who can’t see that hasn’t been paying attention.

At the end of the day, I don’t think the transfer will happen but it would be naive to completely rule it out. Nobody was expecting him to leave Juve last season after completing their entire pre-season but things changed drastically in the last days of the window.
 and not regarding the possibility of it happening.

If he dropped his wage demands to say £100k-150k a week, he'd surely have a number of clubs firmly interested. I'm finding his handling of this really odd.

I mean if Lingard can get paid 180-200k, I think they're many clubs that would take up his wage if he wanted them, but the issue is he's looking for the right club to make an interest, but unfortunately those clubs have other priorities.

United really ought to be pushing him to return to training, 2-3 weeks has been more than fair to deal with his "personal issue". If he refuses fine, no pay for breach of contract and no football!

It seems no body wants him. I reckon Atleti will backtrack as their own fans have started a petition online.

Rumours are CR's own circle are telling him to consider returning to us. Accept defeat gracefully, knuckle down, and we can all move on. Drag it out and when Brighton come to town, CR will get the loudest boo heard in years for one of our own.

Even though several players have come out and said that he is away for personal reasons or an ongoing family issue.

He lost a child only a few months ago and was back playing only a few days later. He also has a wife and other children who have to deal with that situation. And having been in a similar situation I can tell you, it's not something that you ever really get past. It's even more complicated when you already have children who don't really understand what's going on.

Has it been made clear what the family reasons are and who is involved?

Or are we just to believe he's making it all up just to force a move?

People are harsh. If you lose a kid then I don't care how "unprofessional" you act. Some things are more important than your career no matter who you are.

I just want him gone because I think we will be a better team without him.

Granted that's fair enough, but he's more than happy to post images flexing, but not one message for United of his intentions?

You can put the issue of not training on personal issues, but to show total ignorance and lack of respect to the fans, Ten Hag and the club itself is disrespectful.

He missed the Liverpool game the day after his kid died, trained the next day. Just saying.

You guys really really want him to move to Bayern for Ronaldo not for Bayern or Man Utd.
That’s a good question, if that was meant to be a question, not an assumption.

I am personally 50/50 on this. I have supported this club for over 30 years, and I am also a fan of Ronaldo for over 19 years too. It’s a long long time so it’s tough question for me.

I think for better of future of Man Utd, it’s better if we sell him soon and let ETH build his own team from scratch, and from younger players. New manager will need complete authority and having Ronaldo here may become a hindrance to him at some point. As for the best of Ronaldo career, it would definitely better for him to move on to Bayern too, as it would be easier for him to stat pad his record even further, and chance to win another CL before he retire.

However, in short term, it would be bad for our team to loss our top goalscorer without any reliable replacement. Also, it seems Bayern may not be interested in signing him as it’s against their own principle to sign those expensive and old retiring star players.

So, realistically I am inclined to prefer Ronaldo to stay another year with us. And after next summer, I prefer us to sign someone like Nkunku to replace him. I simply don’t trust Rashford/Martial can do their job consistently over the course of a season.

Atletico deal isn't going to be sealed within a week.

So is this guy going to really not turn up to pre season training for another week?

I can see the next phase of the PR spin start in the media soon -
"CR7 never wanted to leave, it was all his agent, people really close to him always knew that he would stay as he loves MUFC too much and he just needed time to deal with the family stuff"

A couple of the ronybois here are already parroting this narrative.

How do you know he hasn't been in touch with the club and signalled his intentions? We all know the players don't post their own social media stuff, I don't care for any of that shit.

Personally I don't really care if he leaves, he's in a position where he either eats some humble pie, comes back and has to work to get in the team. Or he just comes out, says he wants to leave, loses whatever respect he has left from Utd fans and takes a pay cut to go somewhere else.

But people making light of his family issues or personal reasons are totally wrong, they don't know his situation. They have probably never even come close to making a child, never mind losing one.

If we are meant to be going in a different direction and wiling to change how this club is run, there should be no coming back for Ronaldo. Push him out of the door, or tell him to go play in the reserves, or even better offer him 100k a week to be a back up :)

As satisfying as it would to see him being used as a back up sub and to start away to the likes of FC Zorya in the Europa it really wont do Utd any good with the inevitable circus.

He's due to report for training tomorrow, as far as we know, and I think he will

If he doesn't I am convinced he'll never play for United ever again

Any United fans booing Ronaldo need to have their shirts burned while wearing them

And fanboys will say; "See, he loves us. Our captain, our legend"

Any United fan who will wear his shirt should replace club's badge on shirt with this cnut's head. Because anyone who is supporting this prick who shits on this club (again!) is Ronaldo's fan first and then United's.

There was a thread created last season when we signed Ronaldo, when I read the opening post I remember thinking the poster had presented well thought out arguments as to why Ronaldo would ultimately be a bad signing. As expected, he got a shit tone of abuse (some of it was venturing towards bullying territory) from the rest of the cafe and the thread was subsequently closed.

I'm not able to find it, does anyone have a link to it please? I'd love to read the opening post again and see which one of this predictions turned out to be correct, I suspect most if not all of them.

"It was just the media linking him to all those clubs to get clicks, he was never going anywhere. You are all idiots for falling for it. It's a conspiracy led by Maguire / Rashfords friends in the media to paint Ronaldo in a bad light because he demands so much from his team mates and they have no bottle"

I tend to agree with this take. There might have been some hedging on his part but after seeing this with so many players on so many teams over so many years...I'm a bit surprised so many people here fell for it...Just never made any sense and second ETH came out forcefully it was over for me.

No problem, for a lad who apparently has everything blamed on him to an unprecedented amount it's funny how even the slightest amount of criticism creates an enormous backlash.

We did this already.

The thing about this sort of thing, though, is that even if the OP makes sense in hindsight - it was still a basically clickbaity thread at the time. By which I mean: the concerns raised in the OP had been mentioned plenty already in several other threads (many people did share his skepticism to various degrees), so creating a new and conspicuous one five minutes after Ronaldo arrived (when people were generally excited, if only for the buzz itself) wasn't necessary: it was bound to generate dozens of "stop moaning" comments - even from people who weren't super confident about the signing as such. And...it did, unsurprisingly.

I guess what I'm saying is that a thread like that isn't a good barometer of how people actually felt about Ronaldo's return.

I don't know about that

In the folktale "The Emperor's New Clothes" the townsfolk (who didn't want to appear to look stupid or uneducated) the townsfolk didn't call out the fact that the king was bollok naked because the weavers had told in the court that only the wise men could see the cloth that they weave.

Everyone in the streets and the windows said, "Oh, how fine are the Emperor's new clothes! Don't they fit him to perfection? And see his long train!" Nobody would confess that he couldn't see anything, for that would prove him either unfit for his position, or a fool. No costume the Emperor had worn before was ever such a complete success.

"But he hasn't got anything on," a little child said.

"Did you ever hear such innocent prattle?" said its father. And one person whispered to another what the child had said, "He hasn't anything on. A child says he hasn't anything on."

"But he hasn't got anything on!" the whole town cried out at last.

Now in hindsight what the kid cried out in hindsight (even if he was right) was a little bit clickbaity at the time and could have generated some backlash but I'd still say he was correct to say what he felt even though it went against the grain
