Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

Goldbridge is at a level of pessimism that even I who is as cynical as they come find annoying. However this is different. Rio's statement came like a thin veiled threat. Take care of the media or else...

Rio is so far up Cristiano ass that he'll need gps to come out.

Used to have massive respect for Rio, but nowdays he only serves as Cristiano mouthpiece in media, pathetic really.

yeah he's just his mate but at least it's not me who thinks the same. didn't even read the full post of his. It's not very good from Rio.

Imagine Del Piero and Nedved when they stayed with Juventus in league 2 and compare them with the money/personal success-grabbing you know who..

Goldbridge is the same. I can't really understand these guys. Sure Ronaldo leaving is a blow as there's still a very decent (though not WC) player there who is capable of scoring goals aka something we lack. However he's also a 37 year old player on a half million pounds a week who can't run, who causes scenes whenever he's sent to the bench and doesn't want to be here. I have no issues of him leaving as long as he's adequately replaced.

We survived when Ronaldo left in his prime. We'll do the same now that he's a poor man RVN

Ronaldo is like a child sometimes. Back in 2009 he became the highest paid player in the world and was of course very happy about it. A couple of years later, Barcelona renewed Messi and his new contract was better than Ronaldo's. He couldn't take it and said he was sad at Real Madrid. Until Florentino Pérez gave him a new contract and he was ahead of Messi again. He only cares about being the center of attention. It was a terrible idea to sign him. You could have gotten Vlahovic a year ago.

A Barcelona fan writing up some Messi fiction. What's new

His whole sad speech wasn’t about money. It was that he felt Real Madrid didn’t campaign or support him in the pursuit for the BDOR while Messi was winning 4 in a row.
I remember what happened vividly back then.
You sure about it mate? I remember a new deal was anounced and I never heard him mention any saddness.
Also, Real Madrid has quite an impressive propaganda machine. All national media in Spain clearly supports Real Madrid. Any great player at Real Madrid is always considered better than a player of similar skill at Barcelona or Atlético.

We look like mugs briefing he is expected to join before the very likely scenario that he refuses to join us.

I’m sure because I remember other players like Arbeloa coming to back him publicly around then too.

And actually during Pep’s era, Barca were seen much more favourably in Spain than Real Madrid. Pep’s Barca vs Mourinho’s Madrid was like good vs. evil. Messi vs. Ronaldo was like the Hero vs. The villain.

Also, Ronaldo was due a contract renewal in 2013 anyway. He had one year left on the 5 year deal he signed in 2009 so him getting a contract that year had nothing to do with Messi.

Have you ever heard about this so called big club who keeps buying players only to then refuse to pay them their full salary?

He's gone on strike to force a move.

14 years after comparing himself to a slave.

We've come full circle.

Swap him for Kante, personally think that we can find a striker other than Werner. Why not bring up his name in the conversation if they genuinely want Ronaldo.

You tend to think that the reliable Chelsea & Utd journos would be reporting something if it was a possibility but nothing at all.

I'm surely Boehly would love that swap since he seems to be a huge proponent of swap deals.

Doubt that happens.

I don't think we'd sell him to Chelsea, but Boehly heavily insisting on Ronaldo might be the only way a UCL club is in for him.

They've been quite public in saying they don't want him...

Probably the best option at this point, for the player and for United.

He hasn't bothered to turn up to work, which is pretty much unforgivable in my view. He's also not turning up for the tour. He's done. Moving him on to a club we don't directly compete with is better than keeping him around while he sulks and inevitably becomes a disruptive influence.

Pretty sure he will stink out anywhere he ends up now. Not a patch on the player he once was from a neutral point of view but he still still believes he is.

If he ends up at Chelsea he will be willing Jorginho to miss his first penalty as I’m sure he was with Fernandez so he could take over the duties. The actual difference with Chelsea though is that Tuchel is popular and still has credit in the bank from the Champions League win and I think he could drop Ronaldo and his hissy fits wouldn’t have no bearing on Tuchel’s tenure.

Utd need a hard reset and getting rid of Pogba, Lingard and Ronaldo is just the ticket really. Maybe no Champions League finish this season but a few years of signing great youngsters and not the ‘billboard’ signings is what you probably need.

Being paid millions and refusing to turn up to training or go on preseason tour. The modern footballer!

If he’s not found a buyer by the time our tour gets to Australia, and refuses to join then, we should tear up his contract as he’s in breach.
