I'd retire if I were him. He has enough money, and he's gonna hate playing outside the top level. He seems to be having a hard time dealing with this as it is, spending a couple of years not enjoying what you do wouldn't be good for him. Or at least he could go to the US, not the same money but he'd enjoy living there with all the attention he'd get as a celebrity, and the MLS is a decent competition.
Less declined, more evolved. He's still arguably the best player in the world, just now in a slightly different role.

I remember players like Hagi, Drogba and Sneijder in Galatasaray, Roberto Carlos in Fenerbahce, Cissé in Panathinaikos or Rivaldo in Olympiacos. I imagine it would be comfortable living, great weather, great food, he would be adored like a God in Turkey or Greece and he would have a chance to play UCL football.

Would be sad news if true. IMO he should try his hardest to keep his CL record, especially after he has make such a scene to burn the bridge with us. Although it might be a challenge for him to find a decent CL club now.
I don’t know why there are still people keep suggesting that. Both the criminal court and civil court has long dismissed the case, with no option of appeal. How could the accuser possibly do anything in future against the law of court?

He could play for a lot of CL clubs but the greedy cnut wants paid like he's still in his prime.

I think it's more to do with the fact that he wouldn't be a guaranteed stater for a Champions League team, and he can't handle being a bench player.
Either way, if he is done in the top 5 leagues, then Messi is 1 goal away in total career goals for top 5 clubs.

He is guarantee income of 40-50m a year anyway from his sponsorships/brand products/Instagram posts alone, money shouldn’t be the main factor. With over 500m followings in social media, he is guarantee tens of millions of free money every year.
However, if he also loss his all time records to Messi, he will loss his special spot in football history, which I think would do too much damage to his legacy, than to just earning 100-200m more over next 3 years.

His personality is as big a problem as his playing ability. If he was a player that would be content on the bench and not kick up a fuss, he might actually have one or two takers in Europe. That said, I'm not sure how many greats would move to a club at the end of their career playing a bit part role.
