Cricket

The last great ashes series imo was the 05-06 one.

That's the best series of all time to be honest. Every series looks average compared to that.

I actually enjoyed the last ashes. It was great watching someone like Johnson running in and bowling like a maniac.

What do you think our team for the WC will be?

Guessing something like:

Dhawan
Rahane
Kohli
Rayudu
Raina
Dhoni
Patel (Better than Jadeja imo)
Ashwin
Umesh
Bhuvi
Ishant

After a couple of games, it will become obvious that Dhawan is shit and Sharma will replace him, who will also be shit.

It should be

Dhawan
Rohit
Kohli
Rahane
Raina
Dhoni
Jadeja
Ashwin
Umesh
Bhuvi
Aaron/Ishant

The only change could be that they bring in Akshar Patel in place of Jadeja, although I'd argue that Ashwin is the one who place should be in doubt as jadeja is a pretty good limited overs player.

Ashes is shit. It's the dullest team in international cricket vs the most dislikeable set of twats. There's no winning there.

I don't think you can drop Rayudu tbh, definitely not for people who are known failures outside of India. He's played himself into the starting XI.

Oh yeah, there is that:drool:

We probably would have beaten South Africa as well although they had an awesome team as well.

By domination, I meant on the level of Australia. If you look at that pakistani team we had talent everywhere, from the openers to a strong middle order, the lower order was extremely destructive and second best bowling attack in the world. Compared that to our current team and its a joke but the inconsistencies are still the same.

 I think Australia defeated Sri Lanka in 07 as well, three straight world cups wins against Asia's giants. Kinda weird coincidence.

That is weird.

Along with MJ's Bulls that Australian team has to be the most dominant in the history of sports. No one beat them. Even Barca got beat by Inter and Chelsea in the CL; and Jose overcame them in the league.

It's tough for Indian and Pakistani teams to have unchallenged domination because of all the extras that is generally involved with our sports, and our culture in general.

How on earth has been the quality of cricket been good?

The last two series have resulted in 3-0 and 5-0 to the home team with one-sided contests. Australia vs South Africa is usually the much better series in quality.

The last one was an aberration. Even there, I enjoyed watching Johnson's bowling in the last Ashes. The one before that was closer than the 3-0 suggested. Australia got unlucky with the rain in some and England got lucky in some matches.

I don't find it as boring as watching India get rolled over 4-0 when we tour away.

Predictions for our team against Australia in the first test:

I'm going with

Rahul
Vijay
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Raina(It'll be a disaster but Ravi Shastri is a big fan of him)/Jadeja
Saha
Bhuvi
Ashwin
Umesh
Ishant

Dhawan failed miserably in every away tour he's gone to(except NZ) so he doesn't deserve a place.

We'll still lose by three test margin unless Johnson gets injured, then we'll lose by two test.

Wait, Raina is in the test squad? wtf?

Yeah apparently it makes sense to put someone who is rubbish on short balls to put him in a squad against Australia in Australia.

Think Dhawan will definitely play, I would put Rohit at 6 . No idea who to pick between Jadeja & Ashwin because both will be shit.

Dhawan was dropped for the last two matches against England, so it's not a surety that he'll play. And yes I forgot about Rohit, he'll be in play before Raina.

If you were to strap a bat on Shane Watson front pad he would be unstoppable.

Such a twat of player though and he wont get dropped.

Allah is with Moeen Ali today! He has been excellent but also very lucky today. Ball hit the stumps but the bails didn't drop and a few catches dropped. Been great viewing from what I have seen. And as I write this, Ali smacks another 6!

And now he's out next ball. Shite! :(

Great knock though, out for 119!

Statement on Phillip Hughes from Australian Team Doctor Peter Brukner
November 27, 2014

It is my sad duty to inform you that a short time ago Phillip Hughes passed away.
He never regained consciousness following his injury on Tuesday.

He was not in pain before he passed and was surrounded by his family and close friends.

As a cricket community we mourn his loss and extend our deepest sympathies to Phillip’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.

Cricket Australia kindly asks that the privacy of the Hughes family, players and staff be respected

Gone far too soon :(

Tragic accident, tragic day for Cricket. The chances were so slim, poor fella.

Late to say this but awful news. Way too young, very sad. RIP.

Brilliant stuff from Brendon McCullum. 100 from 78 balls, a New Zealand test match record, get in son.

192 too, so close. With Taylor and Anderson both chipping in with 50 each, this has a brilliant innings. I was thinking yesterday maybe we should declare around 550, now I hope they keep blasting away until they're all out, the run rate is phenomenal.

How fecking thick are England's players?

3 players (although Root gets away with it) caught the ball after hitting a 6. Unbelievable really.

Kusal has to be the worst international opener I've seen for years and that's saying a lot considering that I follow Pakistan regularly. He does nothing but offer the fielders some free catching practice every time I see him.

Amla & de Villiers are just fantastic, another century apiece for them.

So effortless as well. Can't remember one false shot, besides that ball that clipped Amla's off stump.

Best two batsmen for me. Never seem to go out of form!! Kohli is up there but these two seat bit above at the moment.

Hard to believe De Villier's is only 30 years old. Been around for ages now.

Cook removed as captain. Morgan to take over.

Should've happened earlier, not the best preparation ahead of the World Cup.
