SA win an entertaining game. Good effort from Pakistan, we got closer than I expected.

AB and Amla were superb. Afridi's innings was enjoyable. Riaz battled at the end but we'd lost too many wickets early on.
 
Is the current SA team better than the one in the 99 World Cup? That was the last time I liked watching them, and since then it was all hype no results, at least in the big competitions. But this one really has in it to win the next World Cup. Incredibly balanced throughout with loads of quality.

I've been thinking that for the last 2-3 competitions (T20 & ODI) and they've failed each time. The Champions Trophy will be a good indicator on whether this side has the mentality to finally win a competition.
 
I don't think they're very good.

Team composition is suspect. And AB De Villiers is prone to making spastic judgments for the sake of being different.

Yeah the jury is still out on them, but they have the platform to take it to the next level imo. The 99 one is still my favourite out of the two though, that was a fantastic ODI team. Brilliant openers, middle order composed of stable run getters, amazing hard hitting finishers down the order, some quality all rounders and a scary pace battery.

I believe that this SA team is not on the same level with the all rounders - Kallis is getting old and no one is near Pollock or Klusener, but I quite like this pace attack. And the top order is brilliant.
 
Shillingford is awesome.

I think he's the 3rd best off spinnen in the game.
 


Such a shame he got himself banned later on in the year, was absolutely brilliant at that time. The first test in multan is still one of my favorites.
 
So any comments about the Hafeez dismissal?

I thought he was out according to the new rules.

I don't understand the PCB. Why is Fartface back in the side, but Umar Akmal is not? Umar can actually win us games and putting him in the middle order will actually add some explosiveness to break up the lethargy of Younis, Misbah and Malik.

At least Irfan's having a good tour.

Good from Farhat and Misbah, but one of them should have batted all the way. Steyn was superb.

Series goes to the deciding 5th game.
 
Apparently the ECB have asked Somerset to play Jos Butler as wicket keeper this season to help his development, guess this is one for England fans on here but do you think England should be getting involved with request like this with the players county team? Reason I ask is Craig Kieswetter often plays for England as wicketkeeper in limited overs cricket and I'm sure he wants to continue to fight for that position but this is surely going to be difficult as I think he is the Somerset wicketkeeper.
 
I still can't understand why Prior doesn't get picked. One of the best wicket keeper batsman in the world.
 
Because he's not any good at ODIs. Averages 22 or sometihng.

I think our fielding was worse, if we had taken the chances would have been a tighter match. Why the feck were we batting first anyways?
 
SA take the series. A good contest between the 2 sides. AB is brilliant.

Irfan has impressed me, will be interesting how he does in the Champions Trophy. I hope we bring U. Akmal and Gul back into the side for that competition.
 
Jesse Ryder apparently beaten up outside a Bar in NZ. Got a skull fracture and is very serious. :( :(

Hope he pulls through. 4 people beat him up apparently according to one report.

Vinay Kumar could have done better in the super over, and Steyn was again class in that final over. And GAYLE :drool: I wish i had his power.

Australia's side for the upcoming Ashes series doesn't fill me with confidence, but I have to say I am extremely pleased to see Chris Rogers has been picked in the tour squad.

He is an ridiculously humble and down to earth person. And he has been in great form for both Victoria and his county side for many years now, he has proven himself on English wickets.
