Cricket

That's how I feel, and he can't retire
Not with Dravid gone, and Laxman likely to be soon as well

They have managed the transition badly if you ask me
I think they needn't be pushed out. The players concerned are most sensible and BCCI could easily have discussed their transition plans, if not directly but through players such as kumble (who are part of the players association). Its logical right now for the older players to skip ODI's first and then to pace the Test phase. Ofcourse, to accomplish this, there must be players capable to take on the mantle atleast for Tests. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes. Hope there is a transition plan.

Congratulations to Tendulkar. It's fitting he reached the landmark in a big match against world class opposition like Bangladesh.

His cautiousness from 70 onwards probably cost India the game

Every century counts. And Bangladesh did beat us just fyi.

Though I agree that his slow rate once he was nearing his century probably cost us the match. We really should have gotten around 310-320

tbf mate. It was a slowish pitch and with all due respect to Bangladesh, we should've defended 289.

Congratulations to the great man, very much well deserved.

Although part of me is definitely saddened it has come partly due to the fact that it was a damp squib but also I was hoping he would never get it and it would go down as one of cricket's great imperfections up there with Bradman's average. Nonetheless that would be a very selfish view and as mentioned he is such a great player that it is well deserved.

So the big match today. Dumpstar has already written his post about how his father has been telling him of match fixing from 1923 etc etc just in case if Pakistan loses.

Pakistan is playing well, the bookies didn't fix the first 16 overs.

So no match fixing in first innings.

Tendulkar not getting a milestone completely manufactured by the media would not have gone down as one of the great cricketing imperfections.:lol:

He himself said, even after getting the 99th century in Nagpur, no one asked him a single question about it...but as the months have rolled on, the hype has increased around it.

Just seen the score. Must be a dead flat pitch or India bowling has fallen off a cliff to allow an average batting side like Pakistan to get 329. The more intriguing part of this game is India batsmen vs Pakistan bowlers.

Tendlya has played a few beautiful shots so far.
Might be past his best, but on form, he's still a joy to watch.

Another century for kohli. So its going to be India vs pakistan final.

Our game ruined by match fixing.

Incredible by Kohli. What a fecking player.

So a rather easy win for India. Clearly fixed :wenger:

Riaz went for 50 in 4 overs

If bangladesh beat sri lanka who will go through?

It won't happen...but Bangladesh.

Both India and Bangladesh would be on 8 points, but Bangladesh through on Head to head comparison.

Don't fret - No way do Bangladesh beat India and Sri Lanka in a week :lol::lol:

Terrible pitch for cricket. Coupled with a ridiculously fast outfield.

Also a special mention to the shameless tele marketing done by the commentators on every available occasion.

They almost beat pakistan.

the daikin marketing thing, was ridiculous. been some time since i have watched cricket, is this now the normal thing?

Nope! Its a Neo Sports/Asia Cup special. They even had the nerve to interview the VP of the sponsor while the game was going on.

You probably will since you should have beaten Pak as well

I think it would have done because even though it was manufactured by the media as you say, it became such a talking point within the game. Thus if he went out with just 99 it would have been a major story.

When is the last time Pakistan has beaten India in a tournament?

Another flat Indian sub continent pitch.

Cr*p pitch. Afridi still couldn't score on it. :) How he gets in before Hammad Azam and even our wicket keeper is ridiculous now. Heck even Umar Gul is more dangerous with a bat in his hand.

'Bookie' killed in Lahore after India-Pak match

An alleged bookmaker was shot dead by unidentified gunmen here after India defeated Pakistan in an Asia Cup cricket match in Bangladesh, police said on Monday.

Muhammad Shaukat alias Lambha, 55, was killed in his house near Sandah Road in Lahore shortly after the India-Pakistan
match on Sunday, they said.

Shaukat's relatives, who lived on the ground floor of the same house, alerted police after hearing gunshots.

Police claimed that they had found a book containing names, telephone numbers and cash, which suggested that Shaukat was a bookie.

It could not immediately be ascertained if the killing was in any way linked to Sunday's match.

At least six empty shells were found beside the body, which was sent for an autopsy, police said.

I always thought that he was in your team as a bowler. Oh and you are right, always amusing to see commentators hype him to BOOM BOOM Afridi, before he invariably gets out early.

Lankans are purposely playing bad because of that vote in the UN.

Bangladesh win!

Pak-Bangladesh final.

Flip me sideways, Bangladesh knock out both world cup finalists. India I can understand as they've had some huge knackering tours but Sri Lanka???

I just wish I could whoop with joy for the underdog but cricket has changed (in my mind anyway) and moments like this raise eyebrows rather than clenched fists.

Bangladesh has been good this tournament. Deserved to win all 3 of their matches. Will lose to Pak in the final though

Congrats Bangladesh! You have made the final on merit and deserve to be there.

Will the bookies fix the final or not?

They would have if it had been an India Pakistan final. Unsure now. If Bangladesh carry this form, we may have a fixed match.

Stay tuned.
