Cricket

Who's this Shuvo guy, haven't seen his name in Bangladeshi team as yet.

Terrific figures today, 14 runs and 3 Wickets in 10 overs

He's a young bloke who's been causing havoc in our dismal first class competition since he was a teenager. One of the more highly rated players to come through our system - he was one of two chosen to come on scholarship to the Australian academy.

I personally think he's a bit crap from previous glimpses but I gather from this performance that I was wrong.

Shuvo is 'ok' those figures tell a story of a NZ side who simply have not been able to play left arm spin.

We have a trio of them...Razzak, Shakib, Shuvo. Almost all the wickets in the 2 matches have gone to spinners.

MR, he isn't obviously crap, but he is also nothing like those figures suggested, decent young player, who can also hit a bit.

Another day another win then.

Garfield Sobers was the black Shakib Al Hasan.

Any series that Shakib Al Hasan is not involved in is frankly not worth playing to be honest.

They favour players who did well in England during a particular year to an extent that makes the award itself almost meaningless, but never mind that all of that, we'll claim it.

What's the qualifying period for this award. I'm sure there were people with better aggregates against better opposition than tamim(cough cough tendulkar cough). But all said and done tamim, in my regard, is a quality talent.

I think the award is a nothing award...it's Wisden Cricketer the maganize, not Wisden the Almanac.

But better opposition, this wasn't one day cricket, he didn't score runs against Zimbabwe and Scotland

Bangladesh played 7 tests, and he got 3 centuries against India(1) and England(2).

The award is based on marks given out by reporters...Sehwag and Swann were 2 and 3 in the list, Tendulkar was not in with a shout. The most important factor is, good players in bad teams have more of a chance to shine and collect marks.

An established side will have multiple players taking marks away from each other in each test, but Bangladesh only have 2 players, Tamim and Shakib(won it last year), so if Bangladesh do anything of note, it will be because of either of these two, resulting in a greater chance of them winning.

Results, and just as I said, Sachin, Sehwag and Zaheer taking marks away from each other.

Bangladesh beat NZ again, and win the series 4-0(5 match series)

1st ever whitewash of a full strength test side!

Shakib Al Hasan doing it all, leading wicket taker, leading run getter and captain.

Have NZ been really shit or Bangladesh really good? Either way, nice to see Bangladesh get some wins against the bigger boys. Young team with some talented players and they impressed me with their attitude against England. Hope they carry this through to the WC and cause some shocks like they did the last time...

Bangladesh bowling and fielding has been lights out, the batting has done just enough.

Both teams have struggled batting, but NZ have been absolutely hopeless, 1st 2 matches, it was the left arm spinners killing them, and the last couple of matches, the pace bowlers have beaten back too.

Great win for Bangladesh. I'd fancy Zimbabwe to take them, though.. seen a bit of this Zimbabwe team, they look quite impressive for a side that hasn't played much cricket against proper opposition.

They're a good ODI side Zimbabwe. They've got a number of talented ODI batsmen as well as some very miserly slow bowlers.

I'd be annoyed if we dropped more than one game against them at home though.

Great century from Abdul Razzaq levels the ODI series with South Africa. Pak winning by 1 wicket.

Meanwhile, Butt & Aamer remain suspended after their ICC appeals were rejected. Asif didn't bother to appeal, that might be a hint the allegations are true, or he just doesn't give a feck about his reputation.

Pointless test series.

Jeetan Patel's the worst spinner I've seen come to India.

I honestly think Hauritz is 3 times the bowler this guy is.. that's how shit Patel is.

why? is it because of the world cup?

I would rather have arranged a test series abroad rather an home series against Kiwis(no disrespect).

Plus the scheduling of this series means that we'll get very less time for resting and preparing for our trip to South Africa. No doubt our team will get beaten there, and the blame will be on players by media etc, but really the real culprits would be our board for this idiotic scheduling.

Dravid's been very, very slow. Good thing is he hasn't struggled.

Finally got into some form in the last half hour of the post lunch session. Was classical Dravid, really good to see.

Poor NZ...mentally shot after getting blanked by Bangladesh, now having to play an Indian side that just blanked Australia...

This was always going to be a case of Lambs being led to the slaughter.

Great series between Pakistan and SA.. class finish to the 4th ODI.

Really was a great match...matches have been really weird, every match Pakistan looks out of it, and then a frantic chase at the end.

Can only look at everything with a suspicious eye, though. Well done, Pakistan, for completely ruining all their matches.

Typical India collapse. 3-3 with Sehwag and Dravid both gone. Good job

Sachin is still there...but I'm still nervous.

Dhoni's the biggest flat track bully we have. Nice guy, brilliant captain, but I've never seen stats flatter anyone this much.

I'm not nervous even now, though. Laxman's there..

Sachin is still there...but I'm still nervous.

Sachin got out approximately 2 minutes after this post.

I'm now not going to say anything on this match until it's done and dusted.

Hmmm...If India draw a couple of those and even lose 1, I think their current status as No.1 will be vindicated.

For the moment..I just don't see them as the best Test nation, though that is only my opinion, but if they were to get a couple of positive results from those 3 tours, I think they would be rightly No.1 and no one would seek to discredit their achievement.

Shocking collapse again.

It's been happening far too often. A couple of times vs Australia, in the first innings and today. Indian collapses are becoming far too regular.
