Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 tournament Sept 2007 in South Africa

137 for 9 (20.0 overs)

I still see them bowling out Zimbabwe for less...

10th over: Zim 74-4

Will be close if they can keep their wickets for a little longer.

EDIT - RAIN STOPS PLAY !

The disappointing thing about this upset is that it will take the shine off our win against the West Indies tomorrow.

Great match and shows why T20 will be here to stay.

The results not exactly a great thing for England though
Cheap thrills.
You already have the same thing in 50 overs match. Plus batsman have to actually apply themselves a bit there.

Watched my first Twenty20 of the cup today, saw Scotland go out to bat. Looked good for about 8 overs, then it all collapsed. You wondered if some dodgy betting was going on. But then again Pakistan went on to win, so you'd have to assume any upset would have been a legitimate sporting one!

The free hit thing is a really absurd concept. What next? If a batsman hits and misses, he has to face the next ball without a bat?

Pietersen just hit three left handed shots for a 6,4,4.

I don't know what to say.

Pietersen then got too cocky and got out. He had no need to play those shots, he's good enough to score those runs right handed, AND not give his wicket away.

I just saw that, did it with ease, taking the piss...

They were getting into a little bit of trouble until he came in, he steadied the ship and got his half-century. England should go onto win now I reckon.

As I write, he's out...

Eng 151-4 in the 14th over...

Flintoff in!

I fecking knew it, no one can discuss our win without mentioning Zimbabwe.

Same thing happened when the bloody Irish beat Pakistan.

Bangladesh knocked out WI - through to the second round in a group that could well contain PAK/Sri Lanka/Aus.

Obviously that will all depend on how Zimbabwe perform as well... :smirk:

I stopped watching the England match got bored but their seems to have been the traditional collapse since...

England's innings finished 188-9

That'll be enough for England, great innings from the Saffy.

Anyone else watching on Sky, what are we making of these female commentator? She sounds ok, not a voice that grates, seems to know her stuff though I questioned it when she started telling me Flintoff was the 'English hero' who always comes up with the goods. Evidently not seen him for a couple of years with the bat then, Hussain corrected her. The problem is though, she doesn't shut up. It's a wall of sound. The best commentators learn that well used periods of pause and silence can be an effective weapon

Isn't that just girls in general...

Edit - Yeah that should be enough for England should win comfortably in the end, unless a player or 2 makes a big stand like Pietersen of course.

5th over: Eng 47-0

I may just go and watch this, it could end up being tight.

She's a lot better than David Lloyd, Botham, Gower et al on Sky usually. Far less annoying. Good disply by England this, although they are getting sloppy towards the end of the innings - they always do this when the game is wrapped up.

I think England has a good chance of winning this shite. It will come down to between them and SA for me.

I'd like to see how Sri Lanka perform in this cup, they have a good mix of decent bowlers & batters.

20-20 was a necessary addition to the game. The English counties were struggling to break even. 20-20 has brought much needed cash to the counties and introduced more children to the game. That extra money will be used to bring through the next generation of Test stars. A sensible, necessary move IMO.

They should have just stuck with it being used in English domestic scene.
